This worked perfectly for my '03 camry 2.4L (barely fits, btw - very tight fit next to oil pan). 420 CEL never came back on and my cat is hollowed out completely. Glad I went this route.
wished you would have showed the graphing after repair. always before and after is showing a result, i tried them a couple times on a couple 06 and 07 vehs and light would still come on.the idea is to keep those o2s at a steady 600 to700 mv no switching when graphing they still switched but not as bad but enough to throw a code. could u show them after ur repair in graph mode would be nice.
The big fix I was looking for! I bought a Chinese catalytic converter and the oxygen sensor is a little bit too sensitive and the extension is just the thing to attenuate the signal getting to the computer
I learned from this video that the extender needs to be on the down stream oxygen sensor not the upstream sensor. I’ve already bought a couple of different styles of spacer just in case. I spent between $5.00 and $8.00 each. I got them online from one of the last places you’d expect to find them.
@@danielfiore8865 I haven’t had an opportunity to try one yet. But I will let you know when I do. I have tried Cataclean with disappointing results. I’m going to try it again though to see if the results last beyond 80 miles.
@@danielfiore8865 they won't flag you. What's the point of them flagging you? What are they gonna do if you have to many "flags" they gonna take your car? They have zero authority to do any of that. There is no such thing as flagging
@@Mr.Thermistor7228 they report the results to the state and the exact word they use was "tampered". I love the skepticism my guy. Question everything. But I'm telling ya...it happened to me. The state of CA fines negligent shops $300K for passing modified cats. They send decoys into smog shops all the time. Welcome to reality. Or shrug it off
@@Mr.Thermistor7228 they won't pass you. They'll mandate your inspection to state ref. If you want tags...youll get an inspection there next. You lack knowledge my friend.
These work on early OBD2 systems. I can't remember what year, but the later systems where programmed to detect the operation of the downstream sensor, during warmup. Long story short. They work on early systems but ,not on the newer ones.
So I’m guessing since none of these videos say anything about it, this doesn’t affect how the car runs? I don’t care about codes or emissions, but my car now runs a little shitty since long tubes and cat delete! And yes it does need a dyno tune, just wondering if this would help for now!?
@@conradmaceo This does not affect how it runs, but keep in mind if you have a bad O2 sensor you will need to replace that since that will cause performance issues
We had emissions in my county for a few years but now they just do safety inspections. Even for our safety inspections they do visual checks for the stock cat and if you have an aftermarket cat they go to the scan tool to make sure the sensor is reporting correctly. This is just for safety so they more strict on the emissions side. That o2 sensor extender is a dead giveaway that you're trying to bypass the system. When I had to do emissions they would print out a report on how efficient my cat was, they would actually stick a sensor in the exhaust and the state decided if it would pass or fail. That emissions readiness is a good tool to have in the torque app, most states allow you to have one of those systems not ready. Usually you can get the system to ready up with a short drive with your gas tank between 1/4 and 3/4. If you try it on a full tank most of the time it takes a lot longer or the evap doesn't ready up.
did mine as a test to Audi TT for almost 2 weeks but it seems the downstream sensor(2) is also part of the important thing, I mean a fake reading is not good for both sensors, and lastly it will trigger the limit parameter and yes, the engine light will be ON , but Maybe it can help if you have issue with Catalitic, but My Cat is great still !
The downstream sensor has nothing to do with how the engine runs. It does not have any effects on air/fuel ratio or anything. All it is doing is detecting if the catalytic converter is making a change in the exhaust coming out of it. Nothing to do with any process of the running engine
@@Mr.Thermistor7228 yup most it will say the same there is nothing to do than post cat check but i guess its not in my Audi, I was monitoring the value both and anothers for almost a week, running leaner lastly the light turned on again and again , Now i got a new sensor and the car is running better than before, Great !
@@Mr.Thermistor7228 they actually do more than cat efficiency. but if u watch them from cold start to warm and cruise before install and after install while graphing is the key to get a comparison. if they stay steady around 700 mv aprx .not switching is what the pcm is looking at. so he never showed that after what he done. Always numbers is data before and after repair.but try it on some 08 up and see what ur results are and see if the car never sets a code. thats a real test. i get what ur saying but the pcm is programed different now cany fool it as easy
Great video and well explain. I have the same thing error code as p0430 on my Sienna. I bought one today. Is this to put inthe back of the cat converter to the backend of the uxhaust? Thks
I’ve got a 2010 Jeep Patriot which has the same engine set up as your Caliber. I’m going to try CataClean first and I have the extender with the filter (mini Cat). It was $11.00 and was shipped from China. I’ll let you know if it works.
@@MH_BeamNG Unfortunately not. But I only ran one bottle. I’ll give it one more try and run 2 bottles. One right after the other as soon as I can afford it. I was able to buy an aftermarket manifold catalytic converter on eBay for $64.00 and will eventually try that too.
Hi. There is no catalyst converter on my car. I am in the Caribbean so I am told it's quite fine. However the check engine light is on and there is a P0420 code when scanned. Will this work for my Nissan 2011 Tida? Thanks.
Phillip, thanks for responding. I am not sure if the o2 sensors are there. I would have to get someone to check. However, if they are not there what else could cause the P0420 code?
@@Terry9921 it’s the downstream O2 sensor, the one after the catalytic converter. It’s telling your ECU that the catalytic converter is not working properly
The O2 sensors meassure how much O2 there is in the exhaust. The information from the upstream one(s) feed back to the ECU that regulates the Air Fuel mixture accordingly. The sensor downstream of the catalyst converter should read less O2 than the upsteam sensor and the extention gives the sensor less access to the O2 in the exhaust due to reduced pressure on the sensor when using the extention.
you are correct but you have to try it on 08 up with a faulty convertor. the pcm is programed differently now. i have tried it numerous times and has not worked for me. your theory is correct and usually u see on graphing it stays around 700mv which is rich,it should never mimic up stream. but the pcm program i guess its smarter now.
@@PhillipsVision ah got it. thank you! last question: any issue/problems installing these with a catted dp as opposed to catless? want to go with a high flow 200 cell sport cats to get most of the benefits of catless without the smell. but it will still prob end up throwing a CEL and was hoping to avoid that with an O2 spacer. thanks in advance!
I know about these and I know they sell them but I’m pretty sure these are illegal to use nationwide and the fines are pretty hefty for having them on your car so I would be careful with these in use, I’m not even sure how they didn’t catch this inspection stations are trained to look for these and any other illegal exhaust modifications. Look not trying to argue with you your explanation was great but any consumer or I’ve seen some shops do this should be aware that the fine is a big one for using these.
@@Eye-it-azz I live in South Africa but I have travelled in Africa so I mean the continent. I have not come across a country in Africa that requires annual emissions tests. What country are you from that has these annual emissions tests?
If the state really cared about emissions they would limit commercial air flights, commercial cow farms and greedy factory emissions these count for the majority of co2 otherwise thanks for the video
So remember, these won’t fix your cats. If your cats are clogged you will need to change them ( some cars have more than one) so keep an eye on your mpgs and how dark the exhaust comes out. Also smelly smog is a dead giveaway
