Hello girls and guys who also have hooded and downturned eyes! Here is a Do's and Don'ts on how to avoid some very common "mistakes" that we all have done at some point in our lives with our eyemakeup. Ofcourse not everyone wants to make their eyes look more almond shaped and upturned and that is totally fine, but for those who feel like their eyemakeup makes them look too sad or tired and need some tips and tricks on how to avoid this kind of look, here are some tips for you. :)

It took a long way before i realize that i have hooded eyes. No wonder thick eyeliner and eyeshadow on lids are no no for me. Thanks for sharing. Really help

13loodyangel It has taken a very long time to figure it out myself too. What works and what doesn't for my eyeshape. When I was younger I thought there was something wrong with my eyeshape and that they were not pretty but now I like my eyes very much and think that there are so many beautiful ways to do makeup on hooded and downturned eyes. ☺ Thank you for your feedback!

Yep, it does make a big difference, the further up and out you blend the darker eyeshadow the bigger the eyes look. :)

Exactly, the hooded eye looked more authentic. The normal eye has very "usual" look. I really liked the don't 🙂 I have hooded eyes also and I like them 💜

@@kimvperez No, you can see it in the curve/arch of her eyebrow. Just look at the thumbnail, it's very obvious. Not to mention misleading!

That annoyed me as well. She also is purposely squinting the don’t eye at the end of the video. You can’t even get a good look at the comparison.

Thank you!!! I see that in every do n don’t hooded eye tutorial! They raise the eyebrow on the do side but not on the don’t - soooo misleading! And other tutorials they always seem to pick their less hooded side for the do side and more hooded for the don’t side. I’d like to find a tutorial that makes my hooded eyes look good without having to raise my eyebrows all the time! At this point tho I figure if I’m ever gonna see one I’m gonna have to do it myself! 🤣🤣

look, I bet all the tricks work to make your eyes look less hooded and lifted but on the the Do eye you obviously raised your eyebrow to make it look lifted and all. Idk

Well, yeah. But regardless, the don't side just drags her eye down and makes her eyelid less visible. Yes, she raised her eyebrow too much on the do side, but either way, her lid is more visible on that side and her eye looks lifted.

exactly, like this thread makes me wonder if these people actually have downturned or hooded eyes because no matter what we can't ACTUALLY make our eyes less hooded. It's about creating an illusion and avoiding common things that beauty gurus with upturned or a lot of visiblee lid space may do that can actually enhanced what we don't want to bring attention to. she's also showing it so the technique is more visible@@RowanBuchananroabie

gramps I thought too 😂😂 but tbh it is true! Your eye-area looks smaller when you have straight eyebrows. If you have a little "curve" it looks more awaken (idk if this is english xD)

Hahahahahahaha!!! Yep! If u watch all hooded eye dos and donts or any hooded eye tutorial at all - they raise their eyebrows! Which I get they want us to see the look but their video is supposed to b for hooded eyes so we shouldn’t have to do that! Or how about when u see hooded eye videos and they don’t actually have hooded eyes 🤦‍♀️ they’re like I kno u guys say I don’t have hooded eyes but it’s just cuz I raise my eyebrows. They then drop them and it’s barely hooded if at all!

One of the few videos that properly addresses downturned eyes! I also line the bottom waterline to help lift the eyes (it visually shrinks the droop). I have large eyes so it doesn't make my eyes look small). Great detail and advice. Thank you. :)

A lot of the makeup for hooded eyes tutorials are a little too complicated for me, but these were really simple tips that I think I can remember without even having to refer to the video again! Thanks a bunch. Also! Even though I am guilty of half of the "don'ts", there's one that I swear by still, and that's moderate (not terribly heavy) mascara on the lower lashes. The trick for me is to only apply it on the center-most of the bottom lashes, never the lashes towards the lower corner. It opens up the eye without dragging droopy corners further down.

I also have hooded, down turned eyes, and they are quite tricky. This was extremely helpful! I also appreciate that you went through each do and don't quickly, but the close-ups still let me see clearly what you were talking about. Other RU-vidrs would have taken 20 minutes to give the same number of tips you gave in 4! Thank you!

Nice! I actually have hooded eyes but my eyes are also small. So I'm seeing that to lift the eye, focus a lot on the outward corner and in the crease. If I want my eyes to look BIGGER as well, what other tips do I need to do?
