Do Schools Discriminate Against Boys? 

I remember when I was on a school trip we got two buses. The girls got a bus with soft seats and curtains, their bus was fully capable. We got a rapey minivan that was like a wifebeater white colour, some of us couldn't stand up so we would have to be hunched. I was 5'8 and the van sounded like it was about to engulf 15 11-12 year olds in a car bomb. Litter was all over the bus and the seats were torn.

I remember how one of my male classmates almost got kicked out of the school because he pushed a girl that was punching him... If the roles were reversed, he would've definitely gotten kicked out and the girl would be praised for standing up for herself.

Literally once had a substitute who gave all the girls candy and then scolded the boys for calling him out

I remember me and a friend sitting next to each other in econ. One day we had a test, and both he and I got 100 on it. The teacher said we were cheating, made us sit in opposite corners of the room, and retake the test but now with new questions and answers. We both got perfect scores again, go figure. But never did she question the three girls who sat with each other and ALWAYS got the same grades on classwork, homework, and tests. Maybe she didn't care because they got B's and C's, but regardless it's stupid and seems discriminatory.

This one time, these girls were trash-talking about a friend of mine, and he overheard it, he replied back to them, the girls started throwing abuses, he complained to the teacher, teacher said "Ignore them, they will not stop, even if I intervene." Next time this happened my friend also threw abuses at the girls, the girls complained, and the teacher MADE A WHOLE LECTURE ABOUT IT IN CLASS, and then we and some more witnesses said that the girls abused first, and the teacher said YOU SHOULD'VE TOLD ME THEN! I WAS LIKE WTF! This happened in 7th grade

Had a teacher once who found the F word on a sticky note once in class. She called all the boys down after class and we had no idea what was going on. All of us said we didn’t write it, and she wouldn’t believe us. When we said it could’ve been one of the girls, she said “It wasn’t a girl a girl wouldn’t write that.” Turns out it was Courtney. I usually don’t agree with any gender profiling in any way, discrimination or not. But this time it was actually discrimination.

Even when I was like 8 years old as a little girl, I could tell something was off on how the guys in my class were being treated. Even when our pe teacher let the girls leave early and said "ladies first" I was uncomfortable. Last year in my geometry class, we came back from lunch and a guy in my class asked if our teacher had a good lunch break. She stared yelling at him for "wasting class time" even though most of us weren't sat down yet. Idk if this was gender influenced (because trust me she was a huge bitch to everyone) but I still got so mad and almost started yelling at her for acting like that. Idc if some boys act more "misbehaved" than some girls, equality means just that, everyone being treated equally.

When my friend was in sixth grade he couldn’t take engineering. The teachers had made the class girls only because, “There aren’t enough female engineers in the world.” He got to take it the next year, but that’s bull crap.

In our school we are only allowed 2 people in the toilets at a time. Once, three boys went into the boys toilet, and ALL the boys had to miss recess. At the same time, there were around 8 girls in the girls toilet (I know this because they frantically mess around and accidentally keep the door open.) Guess what? *The girls didn't get told off, but the boys did.*

Boys are absolutely having it harder. I remember in middle school whenever boys were even slightly loud teachers yelled at us. And when girls literally screamed, teachers just politely asked them to be quieter.

Teacher: "I told you girls, if a man harrases you sexually, you must tell someone" A boy: "What if a woman will harrase a man sexually?" Teacher: Impossible

So here is short story: Once our teacher was calling out students in front of map. A Girl got asked to find Egypt. She came to the map and start looking somewhere in China. Two or three boys started laughing. Teacher write to their parents and the girl got bonus points for some reason. The funny thing is, the next boy got points down becouse it “took him too long”, and he was looking like directly at the name of it but couldn’t find it.

me and a male friend (I’m a girl) wanted to see if our teacher was biased, so when a test came we put the exact same answers. Guess who got the better score? me. We asked the teacher why he got a lower score and how I got a higher one. We showed her our test answers and she accused him of changing his answer after the scores were given.

yes... yes they do. once a computer got broken and once our class was questioned about it the teacher said "girls you can go" and we sat there for about 20 minutes before the teacher started yelling at us because "we wouldn't admit it" and guess what? It turned out to be one of the girls who broke it.

It certainly feels like schools are for the girls. The girl’s bathrooms are usually better, they usually are the first to do everything, and there was one time our teacher only let girls sharpen pencils in 4th grade because boys were too “rowdy”.

When I was in fourth grade, there was this one girl in my class, and she never got to school on time, often she missed by 10 minutes, often she even missed whole classes, but all there was said, was"try to be on time tomorrow" then in fifth grade, my bus had stopped going in my school time so I missed first classes by five minutes every day, after three days my teacher told me, that if I was late to one more class she would contact my parents, and she didn't even listen to what I had to say.

pupils with the worst grades in my school were boys. Boys were given detentions alot. Boys would get told off by teachers and Boys would argue with teachers. Not surprising really I guess. I went to an all Boys school.

Back in school, my grades were never affected by my sex, as I tried hard and as a result always got A's or B's. But although my grades were not affected, I feel we had a sexist teacher. She seemed to always have something against me and my friends. Now, I'm not saying I was a role model of a student, but the way she treated us felt more like hate than being a teacher. But I felt as if the teacher was unnecessarily harsh on us. When we talked she would yell at us and tell us to sit from out friends, but when a girl talked she would simply give her a warning. I remember one specific instance when we were all playing downball. The girls were getting out because they weren't quite as good as us, and seemed to think we were being bias (we weren't). They reported to the teacher and sure enough she came running to their aid and telling us to be more inclusive or we would be PERMANTLY banned from playing downball. If we were ever to complain about not being included, or being told we were bad, she would simply tell us to "Suck it up". Although my grades never differed due to this women, I feel like she had a strong hatred against the boys, even if she was able to be distinct about it. Not sure if this issue is common, but it made that year the worst of my school years.

A group of girls were doing tiktok dances in my class extremely loud, the teacher didn't care. When I asked for a pencil, the teacher asked me to stop talking WHILE the girls were still doing tiktok dances.

Makes me remember one time in highschool where one girl classmate dodged detention and her exam being cancelled by basically crying, she had been discovered cheating and started crying in front of the teacher and the administration for them to "forgive her" and stupid as the administration was in that highschool, they did. Some time passed and in another period one boy classmate was discovered as well, administration immediately canceled his exam on spot (which was the correct thing to do) and I remembered looking at the administration and saying to this classmate "you should've tried crying dude" no-one said a thing.

There was one time when all the girls where goofing around in the bathroom and they got punished, but the teacher punished the boys to becuase we quote on quote: “didn’t stop them” like what do you want us to do, go into the bathroom?

I saw recently that the Governor of the state of Oregon signed a bill saying that a student doesn't have to be proficient in math or reading to graduate high school. Incompetent educators are one of the most destructive forces in western society today. Also, schools have taken out two of the things many boys used to find fun about school(shop and auto shop). Not every boy is going to grow up and go to college. Some boys are better suited to pursue a trade and there is no shame in this. Schools are failing these boys.

When I was in 4th grade, girls were offered an opportunity to enter a program called girls who code that teaches girls how to code. But there was no such program for boys. I asked why there was no program for boys and the answer was, "because girls dont get as many opportunities."

In my middle school, there was an english teacher that gave girls higher grades than the boys, even when the boys worked harder than the girls!!

My high school math teacher was the girl's volleyball coach and he would only seriously answer questions from the girls. Everytime a boy asked a question, he would just tell them to review their notes. He was infamous in my school and had a lot of complaints from parents. He still works there sadly.

True story: I almost got suspended in second grade because a group of 5-10 girls started a rumor about me (I never found out what it was, but I'm guessing not too good) And, after me explaining to the teacher multiple times that I don't even talk to that group of girls, still got sent to the office on multiple occasions because of these rumors. Had my mother not been a teacher at my school, and my teacher not backed me up against the teacher trying to get me suspended, it may have actually happened.

Story time! One if my friends was repeatingly kicked in the shin by a girl in Phys eds. Told a teacher and he was told to "tough it out". Next time it happened he "toughed it out" and kicked her back. He got suspended for 2 weeks physical harassment and had to write an apology letter to the girl and each member of her family. When I was in 5th grade, the girls in my class had a group called W.A.C.: Women’s Action Club. I joined immediately as I had an immense amount of support for females. At lunch, the group would have meetings and I soon found that they were putting girls up solely by putting boys down. In front of me they would call boys “messy” and “annoying”. I felt that I was here to support females and I didn’t like how they were describing boys so I left the meeting early. After lunch, my teacher called me out for leaving. I think that these kinds of girls should not group all boys considering that many boys are on the the side of gender equality.

When I was in seventh grade I had a teacher who insisted that all boys needed to be held a year back because they weren’t prepared for the same grade as girls and when someone called her out on it she insisted she was right and then sent the kid out of the room. Fittingly almost everyone hated her.

Same is with companies that do quotas or hire more girls to have good scores in the rankings (which is the vast majority of multinationals). It's incredible how males have to work thrice as hard as just the interview process is far more difficult for them. Doing quotas or preferring girls is just as damaging as when males were preferred in the past. You should hire based only on how well a candidate perform.

Story time: One time in school the Girls where playing loudly while the teacher was out and when the teacher hears about it the teacher blames the boys and gives us a big lecture on how loud the boys was and we should be more like the girls, I could not stand the discrimination so I told the truth to the teacher and I got punished by lecturing me while I was on the front of the class, as I was an introvert who had anxiety I got extremely worried and when class was over I cried out to my best friend who in place of me is angry at the teacher.

I'm a male with long hair. In college I was studying to become a bartender. I had already some experience as a waiter, and my long hair, if properly tied never gave me any problem to be recruited and do my job. Like every kind of school teaching this subject, you had a dress code which asked you to have short and proper nails, to be dressed in a suit, with only certain colors, no jelewry, a "classical haircut without hair dye" and to be frank I was okay with that since it's to make you used to the outfit you're going to have most of the time in your work. The first day, I decided to tie my long hair in a proper and discreet hair bun to follow the "classical haircut" dress code rule. Arriving at the school, I was asked to go to the hairdresser by the end of the week or else I wouldn't be allowed to attend class. When I asked why, they said that "long hair are not a classical haircut for mens, even if tied properly and in a discreet way" and "because of hygiene in the workplace". Wanna know the funny thing ? All the girls in the college are allowed to have hair longer than me, and are not even asked to tie them. When I asked why they could have it and not me, they just said "because they are girl, long hair is a classical haircut for girls", totally dismissed the hygiene part, and was left with the choice to cut my hair short or leave the school. So I thought ok, then let's go see elsewhere ! But was given the same bullshit thing in EVERY bartending school...

i think a subject in which this heavily plays into is pe, i remember when i went to hs my favorite class was pe, why not hang out with the boys play some sports and have fun while being competitive, however pe is still a subject so we would have different units i am really passionate with basketball and soccer so i would gove it my all when those units came around usually challenging friends and pretty much carrying my team ( not bragging this is a part of the point ) anyways the thing is teachers would consistently grade girls way higher than all the boys like it was insane for example in soccer i did everything scored assisted tackled anything to win however this girls on my team who never did anything still got a higher grade than me so i go talk to the teacher and his reason of why i got lower was that i didnt teach my teammates how to play like wtf is that bullshit when did all the girls teavh all the boys how to play? they were based not even on effort cuz some gorls would literally sit while everyone was running laps and still get higher anyways, once a year we would always have a dance unit in which ofc u were allowed to pick ur team in this one the girls ofc dominated the guys in every single dance unit we ever had but now that the roles were reversed we still got shittier grades i remember this really pissing me off because i wasnt a really hard worker in class in part because my teachers hated me (lets say i wasnt the perfect studemt but i never got in any major trouble, in fact half the stuff i was getting flamed for they allowed the girls to do this one time im riding my bike just outside of school when i see a friend also leaving but with his car i literally just knocked on his window to say hi and the next morning i was talking to the principal about doing that while wearing the school uniform LIKE WTF ??) anyways it pissed me off because the one thing that i would actually give it my all i was still getting treated unfairly and getting lower grades than people who wouldnt participate giving u another flaw in thw sistem which is making the difference between genders notable, by the end of highschool me and my friends would just slouch on pe because even if we did something we still would get worse grades (this can be applied to any other class too)

good story: in 8th grade a girl wanted me to move and I didn’t see her. She pushed my arm and I didn’t see her, so I got scared and just shoved my arm and accidentally almost pushed her over. Luckily, one of the teachers who was a family friend saw the whole thing and sent her to the office to falsely accusing me. She was my favourite teacher.

Story time! So my sophomore year of high school our bus has a substitute driver for like a week or so. So basically my bus was divided in the front the quiet kids, the middle were the loud kids, the back were more quiet kids. So the loud kids (Both boys and girls) were being really annoying and the bus driver had had enough. So the next morning I get on the bus and she tells me to sit in the first available seat next to another boy. I notice that the girls were told to go sit wherever they wanted. I quickly realized what the driver was doing was making all the guys sit as close to the front all next to each other. Mean while the girls had the rest of the bus to themselves. This pissed me the hell off really quickly and I very soon was making jokes about sexism very loudly to the driver. She was punishing one gender for the actions of a select few both girls and guys. After the bus ride I reported her for punishing a lot us for no apparent reason. The afternoon she did the same thing and this time I was even more loud as a lot of the girls and guys were as well, about the hilarious sexism and discrimination that was going on. We called the Bus Driver Hitler, Oppressive, Sexist. We were insulting and calling her names that didn't even make sense just to get under her skin. The next day the boys and girls were no longer separated and I got to sit in the back of the bus once more. Did I act immature? Yes. But I don't really blame myself as me and a lot of the other boys weren't the one's being loud to begin with so the fact the driver tried to punish all of us was B.S I've definitely had a share of sexist experiences in school but for the most part my Teachers have always been fair which is cool

there was this girl in our class that absolutely everyone hated except for her 2 friends, one day she came up to a guy, carl who was very nice to everyone, so everyone liked him. and asked him to touch her feet, she didn't even ask she demanded it in such a condescending way. (in India touching someone's feet is a way of letting the person know that they're respected by and superior to the person who is touching their feet), so when he asked her why she replied "because I'm a girl! and u should respect girls!" when he declined and got up she pushed him. just then the (woman)teacher came into the room and saw Karen(annoying girl) push carl, so Karen immediately screeched "carl pushed me!". to which the teacher replied "carl I didn't expect this from you, go to the floor manager's office" to which carl was absolutely distraught. but then when the floor manager was making her rounds, she saw all the commotion and asked what was going on, the kids started to explain but there were too many at once, so the teacher silenced everyone and told the floor manager "carl hit Karen" to which the floor manager replied, "carl I really thought you were better than this" and sent him to the principal's office. to which Karen flashed carl THE MOST irritating smile. because everyone liked carl and hated Karen, everyone started shouting that carl didn't, push her, Karen pushed carl. the teacher couldn't understand, so she told a couple of students to explain. the teacher obviously didn't believe it so she threatened to send them to the principal's office, because they were his friends and were defending him... then the entire class said that Karen did it along with one of her close friends. so the teacher would've been an idiot not to believe it now. so she sent Karen's friend and a couple of other students to the principal's office to explain what had happened. but she STILL didn't send Karen there. the principal was luckily hadn't lowered herself to such standards, called for Karen, Karen started bawling and sobbing on the spot apologizing and crying. when she sent someone else to the principal's office she was so exhilarated but now when she had to go she was terrified because the (woman) principal was famous for beating children up with a walking cane(legal in India) regardless of gender. so she was sent to the office and suspended for taking advantage of her rights and gender. if the roles were reversed I'm sure Carl would still have been expelled.

In Primary, a rock was thrown through a classroom window. The head teacher immediately gathered all the boys and made us sit in rows (the girls went inside). They proceeded to try and get the perpetrator to admit, but when no one did they were about to punish all the boys, when a girl and a teacher came outside. The girl told the head teacher that it was her who had thrown it thought the window. In high school, we had a sub. It was art class, and it was mainly girls. When she walked in, she said 'Oh this should be good - nice and quiet'. When I asked why, she said cause there's a lot of girls here. My friend then said isn't that a bit sexist. Teacher answers 'how is that sexist. I'm treating the girls equally'. We knew better than to speak up again, but we proceeded to tell as many people as possible that story.

Great stuff. I am a male teacher in Holland and I experience this each day. We must equalize the playing field for the next generation of boys.

Back in 6th grade, my grade would get together and we would all learn a poem to recite at a school assembly. The girls would talk nonstop, and all the boys would be separated so we couldn't talk, and all 3 of the teachers would always start yelling at the boys to "be quiet, act more like the girls. They are being quiet." And for the entire year, they would send different boys to the principal's office, and never once did a single girl get in trouble for talking. The next year, the principal got changed out for a new cool lady, who me and the boys in my grade went back to tell what had happened, and the new principle got all three of them replaced. It was nice, and that school has been a lot more gender neutral since, which is nice, although it is still not 100%, or even 80% there yet.

One time in class, our ethics theacher was talking about sexual assult and a kid asked about if a female raped a male and the male reported them. The teacher aswered with "the cops would want to know where they can meet up with that girl". Since birth we are taught that men being abused by women is something to laugh at. Edit: What he ment with the answer is that they'd want to know where she is to have sex with her

I got framed for “cheating” by stealing answers from a girl who copies off of me.The fucked up part is that she was sitting right behind me and there is no way I could cheat off of her without being noticed.

This reminded me of the time where a girl kept annoying my friend. She kept slapping him and poking him for no reason until he snapped and slapped her back. She then started crying and the teacher berated my friend saying, "You shouldn't hit girls." He snapped back at her saying, "She kept hitting me first." which got him sent to the guidance counselor.

Real life experience: Was on a week long school trip with the year group. One of the nights my dorm is trying to sleep but we can't cuz the teachers decided to bring monopoly/board games to the girls dorm and play with them. So the boys dorm decided to go check it out and see what was up. We sent 3 dudes to scout it out. They came back and said the girls dorm and teachers were having a party. In protest about half of the boys decided to stay up too and cause noise, play pranks on each other etc. until the noise died down across both dorms. The other half of us decided just to sleep cuz of the long day before. In the morning all the boys were punished with a run, barefoot around a stony, thorny field until the teachers were satisfied our expression showed we were sorry . Whilst the teachers and girls had breakfast and watched. It was the most silent painful run of my life. I will never forget it.
