Do super thin solid core speaker cables sound any good?

Interesting cables here. They are pretty much identical to DNM Reson resolution cables but branded Cyrus. They are solid core copper 1mm diameter, they use a wide spacing for super low capacitance and higher inductance, perfect for early exposure amps.
These things really do sound quite different to everything I’ve heard before. They have a almost calm sound to them, very clean and controlled with excellent timing. Bass is less but tighter with no overhang. Mids are neutral and highs are good too with no nasties. They sound is quite weird at first, music sounds different, open and nimble. When i change interconnects they allow a clear difference to be heard, when i swap to other cables i get more bass and warmth but at the expense of rhythm/timing and tightness.

Yes I like solid core for the sound. They tighten everything thing up, especially in the highs and the bass. They do tend to give a different presentation than normal twisted copper cables. Great if Your speakers need more control in the bass.

very interesting observation, thank you!

I use solid core 12 gauge on my subwoofers. Super tight bass. They are quite short though as I have an Icepower custom amp driving them.

Same as what they run inside the amps. Solid core wire. I bet it sounds great! Primary drawbacks are lack of flexibility and ease of breakage.

Strange, but I don’t see any speaker cables at Cyrus website. Are you sure it's a Cyrus ? Your speakers sound wonderful, are they vintage Proac ?

I do a lot of chopping and changing gear tbh, different cables. Ive got some shawline x in now, still thin conductors 1.3mm silver plated copper but insulated and shielded. They sound similar to the cyrus but the cyrus roll off the top and bottom a bit in comparison.

Hilarious. Thin cables have high resistance. You could use 18 gauge wire from Home Depot and get the same sound. Or just put a resistor in series with your other cables. High resistance will cause reduce the damping of the woofer, causing a peak in the response of the bass and it will decrease the mid band less than the high impedance top end of the tweeter. So yeah, it will sound different. Just buy an equalizer.

These cables have been designed with a wide spacing in between conductors to achieve a very low capacitance and higher inductance, they suit the early exposure pre power I’m using which calls for this type of specced cable.

They are just something to try out for a little bit. I like swapping cables, it changes the sound a bit for a new flavour. The solid core really do seem to have lovely tight bass with great timing. I think they are probably not and extended in the highs but the mids are great. This is compared to a bog standard stranded 2.5mm2 ofc cable.
