So many people told me before I married my husband that he was only out for a green card...well guess what?? Its been almost 30 years now that we've been married! So, don't listen to the negative nancys and neds! Of course, there are people that do use others for citizenship, but guess what?? ...You're an adult who knows what he is doing and what he wants. I wish you well in your relationship and your new life in Thailand!!

Yeah, I think you've gotten a good opportunity to know one another well and experience various moods, frustrations & joys to get closer. Since you are working on learning to speak her language and she's working to learn yours, communication will only get better. It's so cool that you're both having such a blast exploring and experiencing the country together. You'll leave nothing to regret as you get to be super seniors together, because you've done so many amazing things.

It wasn’t true for me. I had my own career with benefits. I chose firefighting over children. I’ve often dated underemployed men (rock climbing bum anyone?) and supported them financially. The last man I dated was a doctor and I hated the feeling he gave me that I was his “little woman”. He preferred fancy hotels. I prefer a tent. If I didn’t have older parents I would definitely consider leaving the USA and finding a cute old man to hang out with would be a bonus!
