A big part of the May malaise was the bull pen imploding night after night. It was historic. Losses piled up by Reid-Foley(2), Lopez(2), Ottavino(2), Diekman(2), Garrett(2), Diaz(1). After Diekman blew the game on Jun 2 v. D-Backs, Gelbs said, "That’s the sixth time since May 1st that the Mets have lost a game when leading after eight innings. No other team in the majors has more than two."

But now they're scoring enough runs, that takes the pressure off the bullpen. The bullpen should've been able to perform under pressure, but couldn't.

Christian Scott is still in AAA and Kodai Senga is throwing bullpens. If this lineup stays healthy and accountable (not hot, but doing what they're supposed to do!) we have a baseball team.

Baty’s 4A swing doesn’t work in the bigs. Until he makes changes he’ll be a 4A hitter. He should be able to adjust but will he?

I've been saying for a while, I don't know what to think about this team. Iglesias is a seriously good pickup on a minor league deal. As a platoon bat, he's always been a good hitter. Play him every game against lefties. He won't keep hitting 400, but he's always hit lefties above average. Alvarez is back. Nimmo is over his slump. (edit) Lindor is a top 5-10 player in the NL now and they have pitching to spare. Dare I hope? I'm almost ready to hope.

Alvarez a top 5-10 player in the NL? He’s on a great streak and maybe you mean this month not overall right? Iglesias has done nothing to take himself out of the lineup. Every time we sat him in favor of Jeff McNeil I questioned why!?

@@emiliothepoet Oops. I meant to type Lindor there. My mistake and I'll edit that. I agree with you. Alvarez isn't there yet. On Iglesias, he's had 23 PAs against lefties (1093 OPS) and 12 against righties (780 OPS). So the Mets have been using him in mostly in a platoon role, that was kind of my point. He's an incredible pickup in the platoon role. As to whether the Mets start using him every day and bump McNeil to the end of the bench, that could happen, but time will tell.

Honestly, it’s not hope it’s the motivation speech that they had given probably led by Lindor. I’m sure that Francisco Alvarez had a lot to say he’s been a spark, but they have to remember that they need to talk to each other and that’s what they need to do then do it.!!!!

This team is finally playing with confidence. The difference is obvious. Despite Imanaga not having his best stuff... they were able to capitalize because they're all locked in at the plate. Earlier last month this game would have played out much differently. They would have failed regardless of how good the starter was pitching. There were plenty of guys throwing against them that were average at best but totally dominating the lineup. The difference is night and day...... they just need to continue to stay with the groove. They're fun to watch right now for the first time this season and they have every opportunity on their dish. I personally believe the move to Vientos instead of Baty on a regular basis has impacted the lineup in a positive way. I wish that kid the best but he was really keeping a struggling lineup in the mud. He just couldn't get it going and it became contagious throughout the batting order. Hopefully that changes for him....but until it changes I hope they keep his appearances to a minimum. Yes... he's at AAA now....but that doesn't mean he's not coming back. Perhaps he...too... can put his best foot forward and contribute sooner than later at the big league level.

We always do this to ourselves. As soon as we are solid we have these big expectations. Look offensively I think we have turned a corner and it’s fueling the rest of the team. Alvarez is calling some excellent games. Martinez is leading the way and hell yes I’d resign him. Depending on the run I’m still fielding calls for Pete Alonso, Jeff McNeil (regardless)

People are trying to make sense out of this team. Are they good or not that good? The reality is-the jury is out-the team is fluid and the dust hasn’t settled. But they’re fun to watch right now. Alvarez and Martinez has jolted this team. And the players only meeting and Grimace feeling have been a catalyst as well.

After the turn-around on May 30, the Mets had to play great and get back to .500 to be buyers at the deadline. They have played great(14-5); they're 2 games under. Look to buy an 8th inning guy. It would be great if we could get a closer for that role from teams like OAK, CHW, COL, MIA, LAA.
