Great information. I have actually put my tomatoes and plants in a pile. I thought it was compost material. I think tomorrow I’ll get in my backyard and spend a little time to clean that all up. So glad I saw your video. Always educational. Hey, Merry Christmas ❤️

Thank you for the helpful information. I have been using Beneficial Nematodes for many years, both in Wisconsin and central Florida. Have you ever used them in your location? I'm a big fan of composting and have a worm tower and other methods to compost using worms. I make sure to never throw away anything that I have grown and always use organic methods. Your updates are always enjoyable. Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and God's blessings in the years to come. I do an extra step with my worm tower. I freeze those leftover fruits and tomatoes apples or any food scraps. These food scraps will turn into black gold much faster in the worm bins once the cell walls of these plants have been shattered from the freezing process.

I brought a pepper plant in to overwinter, and all of my houseplants now have aphids. Been a right bear to deal with. My brother and his wife have their garden next to mine, and just left all their tomatoes on the ground last year. Ended up with THOUSANDS of tomato plants! I cleaned the bulk up after a freeze, since they just had a baby last week, but they're still going to have an abundance of freebee tomatoes coming in.

Bringing plants indoors is tricky. If you miss pests, they'll take over in a predator-free environment. If you have a warm day, take the plant outside, hose it off hard to blow them off, then spray the plant down with natural pyrethrin. Let it dry, then bring it in. It helps to have back to back warm days where you can leave it outdoors overnight, but if the nights are still too cold, you can let it dry in the garage.

Great tip! I have many cherry tomatoes all over my grow bags and on the soil. It's going to be mild this week (NJ/7a), so I know what I'll be doing! Thanks and Merry Christmas 🌲🎅

Had a very rough year with my apple trees regarding fungal and pest issues, even though I followed a preventative spray schedule. I noticed that the fox and deer were eating the fruit that dropped. I then began picking up the fruit and carried it into the woods a few hundred feet away and it all got eaten. The fox were wonderful for keeping the squirrel population at bay and it worked out well for all, but the 🐿️. I read that diseased fruit and leaves must be removed a minimum of 100 feet from apple &peach trees.

Apples are quite susceptible to a number of fungal diseases. Cleaning up the area and removing infected leaves and fruit is a good idea. My apple trees are still green and full of leaves despite 16 freezes so far this year. They're absurdly cold hardy and they won't defoliate 😂

Would it be safe to give all the fallen fruit to the worm bin?
@2MinuteGardenTips
@2MinuteGardenTips 7 месяцев назад
Worms won't eat the seeds, so you'll run the risk of having seeds germinating as well as overwintering pest eggs and diseases. I would not put rotten fruit in there, personally. I would stick to leaf matter, root matter, things like banana peels, sweet potato skins, egg shells, coffee grounds, etc.
