As you gather the dry seed pods, put them in a paper bag . Leave them in the bag until they fall out of the seed pods. Also , if you have geen seed pods just them in the sun until they all dry out and the put the in a bag. Once they dry they will fall out the seed pods. If you want to grow several plants, create a larger space using compost and spread several seeds. Once the plants grow 6 to 8 inches in height, pull out some and replant in a row. 👍

I have a collard plant that has gone to seed already and it is growing tall and has some pods, but they are green. When do I take the pods off of the plant? Do you need to refrigerate the bag with the seed pods and seeds or just leave bag in a cool dry place?

This also works for the tops of daikon radish, carrots, and planting the core of cabbage. Not for the vegetable but to eventually get seeds after the flower. Taro tops is what Im experimenting on now.🌱 Free seeds! Also if you slice the bottom of you onion half an inch thick and plant it root side down with just a slight dusty of soil over it you will get 3 onions sprouts that will turn into bulbs... yes really. Try these please because we need to grow our own food as much as possible.

I turned my garden bed into a giant compost last year. I was getting tons of scraps from local grocery stores. I layered it all down with soiled vegetables then covered with all the leaves from last fall, after that i covered it with some partly finished compost, finally covering all the completely with cardboard. When i uncovered it late February i had something growing. I think it probably is collards. I have tomatoes, squash, zucchini and cucumber seedlings self starting out of it now that the soil in getting warm. Covered:December Uncovered:late February

Thanks for sharing. You and the kids lol. I am in Dallas, TX and having a horrible time trying to grow greens. I planted outside but the bugs were eating, by the time I covered with Mesh I think it was just too late. I have a few leaves growing on three of them so waiting to see what happens. They don’t seem to be doing much, so it may be the soil too. The top soil is good because I get mushrooms and all, but what was underneath may be problematic (I added some vegebale food too). I recently put some new seeds in humidity pots. They were outside but I am guessing it is just too hot, so I just brought them inside until is gets a little cooler. I have not seen any stores give out the stocks because most harvesters probably just use there own stems again to keep there farms producing :-(. I am not going to give up lol.

Grean spring onions are the same buy from the store use all but 2inches or so from roots pyt in water for 4-5 days un window sill or sitting in good light. Then plant in ground you'll never need to buy them again they grow over and over allow them to seed and collect the seed head and youll have seeds to plant forever tear after year.

Thank you from a Deep South Dade County Floridian. Grew up in Miami when it was still a small town, eating greens, beans, cornbread, ham hocks, Mac n cheese. We figured we’d better start growing our food recently and I am in the process of working on our garden. I have four collard stalks and intend to plant them. A couple of questions, though. How much space do I need to have for them. And I’ve seen a few vlogs that recommend using “root boost” on the stalks. Good idea? Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. You give me the courage to think I actually can grow the food I need to feed my family.

Hi Michelle. You're welcome. Growing your own food is the best. You can space it 2or 3 feet apart. I don't use root boost on mine. Thank you for watching, Michelle. ❤ ❤

Why was this in my recommendations😀. I guess it was meant to be because I never knew that collard greens had flowers and harvesting the seeds for further crops👍 Thank You, I really enjoyed this video
