John 7:17 Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. Joshua 24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” Mark 8:34 Then he called the crowd to him along with his disciples and said: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. Revelation 3:20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.

Of course we have free will. We make choices every day. You made the choice, exercised your own will, to make this video, edit or have it edited, and upload it to RU-vid. One of those choices is the choice to walk away from God. To spite Him, rebuke Him. People do it all the time. Another is to make the choice to come back to Him. To seek forgiveness, and salvation. To be redeemed and saved before God through Jesus Christ. That's a CHOICE that a human makes. To accept the sacrifice and walk in the steps of Christ is to make a choice. Unless, you really want to go down the rabbit hole that God is responsible for men looking at porn, murdering, molesting children, and stealing. Are those not acts of a will independent of God? I was a porn addict, me. I made that choice to live in that sinful way. God made it possible for me to get out of it. To escape. It is my choice if I end up falling back into it again. Marriages require constant effort and work, and it is no different for a relationship with God. That is not a declaration that they are good. That is a declaration that we do have a choice, and we make the choice as to whether or not we will submit to God and follow Him, or we will be our own aspiring gods. Are you really willing to go with the conclusion that billions of human beings were born with no chance? That goes against the very teachings of Christ, that we had any choice or opportunity in the matter to seek Him and embrace Him. What about The Flood, and Babel? If there is no such thing as free will among human beings, then those actions are nonsensical. All God had to do was change the hearts of men, or better yet, never let any of them exist to begin with. ... But he didn't do that. He wiped the slate clean, and he separated us by language. Why? Because we have the will to do incredible things, good and bad. Men building Babel were doing an incredible thing. An incredibly bad thing. God didn't smite them, he didn't change their hearts, he confused their language to disrupt the activity and will that they were exerting. I'll end with this: “There are only two kinds of people in the end: those who say to God, "Thy will be done," and those to whom God says, in the end, "Thy will be done." All that are in Hell, choose it. Without that self-choice there could be no Hell. No soul that seriously and constantly desires joy will ever miss it. Those who seek find. Those who knock it is opened.” ― C.S. Lewis, The Great Divorce

Can you please clarify John 6:44 for me? or Ephesians 1:4, or Romans 8:28-30? If you are saying that God does not choose some people over others, how do you explain God choosing to represent himself through the Hebrew people while leaving everyone else in darkness?
@angelt.5276

@@jasonpadula4916 it's important to read these verses in context (such as John 6:44 AND John 6:45). I would encourage you to look at Leighton Flowers' videos on this topic because he covers a lot of these kinds of Scriptures and breaks them down in detail. Hope this helps, friend! P.S. God did not leave the rest of the world in darkness. Israel was to be the vehicle through which God would bring the Messiah, the Light of the world, into the world (see Genesis 12:1-3 and Romans 1).

Yes. Reading the Gospels in their entirety, it is clear that Jesus is here to call the "lost sheep," and desires that they "repent" and follow Him. If we didn't have free will--if we were just (as some describe) "meat puppets" pre-programmed from before creation to do things--then what is the point of Jesus? The fact that God sent his Son into the world is itself prima facia evidence that we have free will. Otherwise, God would just create flesh robots who did his will and then populated heaven afterwards. Obviously we have a choice in things. God saves us, and Jesus' death on the cross is for everyone. We can either choose to accept or reject it. For example, the story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16. Also the rich man in Luke 18:18-29. And Zaccheus in Luke 19. There are almost more examples than can be counted.

So he is saying that UNLESS God makes you ABLE to choose Him then you cannot decide to choose Him. Therefore it is up to God as to whether or not you CAN be saved. On the other hand, God desires that ALL WOULD/WILL be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Tim 2:4). The video denies a need to evangelize as it doesn't matter if we do or not. Evangelizing WILL NOT nor CANNOT lead anyone to Christ as the one being witnessed to is only waiting on God to even have a chance of salvation. Looking at God's handiwork of creation is the only testimony needed as it is from God Himself...but that still isn't enough. God determines before hand whom He will save meaning that all that go to hell are going there because God makes the choice for you. If he doesn't open your heart to the gospel then you can't make the choice truly. All the others have no choice and go to hell on God's will...they will suffer for BECAUSE OF GOD. But this is ludicrous. God hardens hearts because of individuals continually rejecting Him. He gives them over to evil. Notice the difference? Only AFTER we go over the edge does He do this...but WE are not the ones who determine this. This is why we are to evangelize and share the gospel...so that ALL can be saved.

No one ever completely understands scripture before they are saved. No one. Not even John MacArthur fully understands the scriptures. When we are born again in Christ, we are just that - infants. We have an infantile understanding of the scriptures and who God is. Many people who are saved know absolutely NOTHING about the Bible, except that they called upon Jesus’s name and He saved them. All we need to know is to call upon the name of the Lord, which is Jesus Christ, and then God steps in and does all the rest. There is no pop quiz on scriptures before that happens. That all comes later, after being saved.

Then the entire thing is pointless. The whole point is we CHOOSE TO BE WITH GOD AND SUBMIT TO HIS WILL. If we don't have a will of our own then that *choice* has no meaning. To be able to choose something means to have the will to *choose something else*.

@@PrimalEater I didn't know it was a competition, how very Christian-like of you. So God made Adam and Eve sin? God made Satan prideful and fall from Heaven? Do you know how ridiculous that sounds? It's not in the Bible. We are not mindless robots living out some choreographed script. Everyone has a will to choose their path in life. This would void Jesus' death and resurrection. This false doctrine is so unbiblical it's really bonkers. Why would Jesus tell us to preach the gospel to everyone? Do you understand what kind of message this sends to people who don't know Jesus? They will give up before anything, because what's the use If you maybe don't make the cut. That is so demonic, the gospel is for ALL. If you limit the gospel, you limit Christ and what He did. That would mean your moral responsibility goes right out the window because it doesn't matter anyway because hey it's already set in stone. Nothing would matter anymore. It would be a pointless existence. That's NOT the God of the Bible.

Ezra 7, v13 (KJV) is a good one, and there’s 17 or 18 other OT verses that reference freewill as mainly what’s called a freewill offering. The word in Hebrew means voluntarily or willingly…based on the will of the individual person. John 1:12 & 2Pe 1:21 both show a distinct will that is separate from the will of the flesh and the will of God. So the Bible itself honors our separate will and gives no evidence that it’s not ours to control (we can be influenced by things of course, but we are still responsible for what we allow ourselves to desire and act on…hence a verse like, “if you even look at a woman lustfully…”). By definition, the will starts internally (desire) and is expressed externally (action). The Bible also shows that we can reject God’s will (as Israel did time and again, as Pharaoh did in Exodus, and as all of the lost do when they reject God’s revelation of himself to them - Romans 1, vs 20-21). We couldn’t do this unless we were free to make the decision that we wanted (desired) to make. Despite all of that, God is still sovereign, supreme, all knowing and all powerful. But he is also just and loving. He empowered us with freedom of will as a part of our original charge to creatively rule over the rest of creation. Note how God didn’t tell Adam what to name the animals…… “ and (God) brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. “ He let Adam name them whatever he wanted, and God honored his desire/choice. And love will not force itself upon us! It can’t or it ceases to be love. This was a lot I know, but hopefully it gives more biblical context as to why freedom of will/freewill is very much a real God-given aspect of life. God bless you!

Confusing as most of explanations are. You would be better off preaching the Gospel to the lost and leave the decision of who will be saved and who won't be saved to God

02:20 "Their decision to reject it (the gospel) is their genuine decision for which they will be responsible" Sounds like free will to me. In this video are we watching belief and salvation getting mixed to together and/or getting mixed up? Belief and salvation are NOT the same thing. Belief (i.e. to want a relationship with God and to accept that such only comes on the basis of believing in God's clearly revealed way which is the work and person of Jesus Christ, due to the sin that separates us from Him) is an act of the human will. Salvation, justification, election, adoption, etc. are works that God, and God alone accomplishes for a human who has believed (and hence they are acts of grace BTW). God created us for the purpose of relationship with Him. Only in free will could we have a relationship with Him (vs. being mere robots). Upon belief, God instantly removes the great barrier of sin separation between Him and us! Jesus' sacrafice established the potential that the sin barrier be removed for an individual. God will absolutely do a sufficient revelation to get individual's attention that He desires a relationship with each and every human but he will not drag a person into relationship! Bottom line: belief is a human act of the will and salvation is the work of God. If you struggle with the idea that your belief is somehow a work on your part (a struggle that explains why Calvinism exists BTW), rest assured it is not because belief doesn't get rid of your sin or my sin! Therefore belief has no "credit" and hence, no work! Belief is best characterized as a response to the potential work and relationship that God has prepared, but will not force upon someone because the highest order of love in a relationship cannot be forced.

The scripture states that faith (belief) is given to us by God. It isn't something we manufacture within ourselves. Romans 12:3 "3 For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to think, but to think with sober discernment, as God has distributed to each of you[a] a measure of faith.[b]" Faith or belief in Christ as the Messiah, as the sacrifice for our sins, as risen from the dead, is not something we come to believe in our own fleshly power. No. It is the grace of God that gives us a measure of faith. Faith comes from God. So, is it free will? I really don't think so. Are we robots? Certainly not. Ephesians 2:8,9. Salvation is a gift of God, and so is the faith. Lest any man should boast. Is belief a human act of the will? Yes. Does this faith generate with us alone? No. We are slaves to sin. Apart from God's Grace and calling, it is impossible to believe. Else we are not slaves to sin. God gives us the Grace to believe. This is His doing, nor ours. It's His gift to us. Can we turn that gift down? Probably. I don't know. Merely my opinions.

Actually you couldn't be more wrong. Love and worship have no value if free will does not exist. Worship and love are reduced to programming which empties them of all meaning.
