Oh, I loved Spencer's mom as a character so much. It was such an excellent way of getting to know Spencer so much better. I love meeting an asshole and then understanding why they are an asshole and being given the chance to empathize with them. Gotta say, throughout the entire season, I was shocked at how much I ended up liking Spencer. He's the character that grew the most on me by far
just found your channel and I'm really enjoying the commentary! This episode was so interesting and i feel like i can understand (not totally forgive) Spiders actions more, it was so interesting to learn that his mum was so man hating, basically a misandrist, and how it would have been so hard to grow up with. Its sort of the idea of her only being able to see men, and therefor Spider, as monsters - without even having a chance for him to prove otherwise - so that's how he presented himself.
Yeah defiantly not forgiving any of his actions but so interesting to see how he came to be and why he is the way he is, does answer a lot of questions
As a French person, I wanted to say that the actor who plays Spider has literally 0 accent (the mom clearly has a very strong accent), if he's not French, he must have lived in France at some point I think

As a neurodiverse person, in my personal experience, it genuinely feels so hard to voice my feelings because generally, we’re not taken as seriously as a neurotypical person. It breaks my heart seeing Quinni go through the battle between being herself and continuing to fit in to what society expects us to act like/be… The representation in quinni as a neurodiverse character and how she’s shown as more than just a cute, quirky person I just love SO MUCH. I feel like I watch a lot of teen dramas, which makes sense, because that's kind of at the root of my trauma and the reason I've been going to therapy for so long 😂 I'm good, though, no worries, but my point is that the main, very consistent thing in all of them is how shitty TV teenagers are at communicating. I honestly don't know if maybe it's that I was different or that I don't remember things right, maybe a bit of both, but I don't remember my relationships sucking so much because of bad communication. They all suck so much at picking up basic cues from others, like all of them not realizing Quinn wasn't fully expressing what she meant to say or that she wasn't really comfortable, or at communicating what they wanna say correctly, like Darren always throwing a punch when he feels attacked even though it's not what he really wants to do, or Amerie saying and doing the wrong things because she simply doesn't realize what she's doing goes directly against what she thinks. It makes the entire experience very frustrating to be quite honest 😂 but in a way that doesn't make me hate it. It just makes me wish we all had better life skills when we're teens, that's all. It makes me wonder how much shit we could've avoided for ourselves if we'd been more patient, more empathetic, and more communicative when we were 14, 15, 16

Who was being mean to Quinni ? Because it wasn't Darren or the rest of the gang , Quinni was being rude & had the nerve to say Darren has always been selfish or all about them when in S1 Darren was the main one there for her. Quinni literally was D*** & came back so to them especially Darren they want her to recover & not stress about Bird Psycho , that's a real friend something Quinni wasn't in that moment . The way people try to villainize Darren gives off certain vibes smh. Also let's talk about how everyone just forgets how both Quinni & Amerie left Darren with Chook alone, no wonder Darren feels like a reject they treat them like leftover, that was a real shitty thing they did but oh I forgot Quinni is the perfect friend & can't do no wrong .
It's because Darren knows better than anyone how hard Quinni has to try to fit in.. they know she has to mask her autism and play by everyone else's rules every day of her life. What they said was completely ignorant. Darren was the one person who should have understood, and let her down. Admittedly she didn't handle it too well. but then again, she did just nearly die trying to find out who bird psycho is... she needs to find out or it was all for nothing.
Hi, I’m Autistic so I thought maybe I could explain from that perspective. Quinni is extremely hyper fixated on Bird Psycho, and when that deep into a hyper fixation it is extremely difficult to stop. Her friends take her to the zoo where you see she is pretty overstimulated, and then you see her find out a bunch of things that are changing at once. Then, while she is sitting with her noise canceling headphones on trying to regulate, they come up behind her and surprise her, which personally as an autistic person would have sent me straight into a meltdown. After all of these things have happened, Darren tells her just to stop and that the world can’t play by her rules. What Quinni said was true, the world plays by Neurotypical rules and it is exhausting. I don’t blame Quinni for being angry at Darren, because they disrupted her hyperfixation and failed to warn her of upcoming changes. I don’t think her friends intentionally did this, but Quinni has a right to be upset.
you are clearly not autistic and have no idea how quinnis brain works. she wasnt being a dick when she came back, she was unmasking. not hiding her autistic traits anymore, so vocalizing that she wont come to a party if she doesnt feel like it because thats quite literally how an autistic persons brain works. and the fact YOURE making quinni the villain gives off “certain vibes”.
