Just used it yesterday…it makes mix sound thicker, smoother, louder…especially if you don’t have hardware and you only mix in the box…this is needed

Great demo. I rolled my eyes when I first saw this one but upon further inspection there’s some cool little features and it sounds pretty good. The transformer switch is a cool touch, I wasn’t aware of that. I REALLY don’t need another saturation plugin but personally I like trying different plugins that do “the same thing”. For me that’s one of the most fun parts about producing and engineering. I find that even the smallest workflow changes caused by trying something new can make things totally new and interesting in a way that keeps me inspired

Tried the demo…I own decapitator, Saturn, ssl….bb tube adds like that gloss on the instrument…hard to explain but it’s dope…new favorite plugin

I tried Lil Tubes on some Vocals last night...damn, instant WOW. Really wonder what exactly is under the hood but it sounded crazy good. I think the guys at Waves sit around with a big smile right now.

Honestly as much as I thought "but why" I have to say I dig it. I've honestly never seen the appeal in 99% of saturation plugins as they just sound like crappy distortion. This actually seems like it just subtly thickens the audio which is fantastic - that's all I want from saturation.

I just picked up the LG Drive saturator from Kush Audio which now brings up my saturation plugins to around 45 and I downloaded the Waves free tube saturation plugin they promoted. Do I need another saturation plugin??? 🤔

Oversampling from Waves! Now, if they would only do that for their older plugins considering what they charge for their update plan.

Haha, who knows. Any what is peculiar is that the oversampling option is in the waves generic utility bar. That would assume it is not plugin specific and can be rolled out to other plugins as well. It makes sense its first introduced on a saturation plugin.

Really appreciate the Plugin Doctor breakdown, should be mandatory on every plugin review, ESPECIALLY a Waves plugin that is drenched in marketing hype but still seems to be a reasonably legit option.

The new Acustica Audio from the diamond series, dynamic saturator, is THE way to go. Forget most other saturation plugins out there....imho

i also thougt it sounds not bad. saturated market is so uminportend, when you have a fine hearing, and preffere the fine nuances.. this has i think nuances that others dont/ and vice versa. however i already have my acoustca audio - diamond eq, and since im not rich, i dont buy it, nor will i test it. its more or less same i think, the eventall nuances not worth bothering. so: yes this has a place, and would i would compare quiet a while wich is best if i wasent already taken by acoustica audio. great review! cant say much more unless i really check it. Its not bad -

Saturation is a big part of audio recording and mixing and therefore i wouldnt cal lit unimportant. Proper use of saturation will ''premix'' your audio in a way which makes any mixes after easier. Often this saturation already takes place during recording with preamp liek a neve or api.

@@whitenoisestudio yes, i think i may made my comment sounding like i disagree that we need good, and a good variety of such plugins. I absolutely agree we better have a few to much so we find the winner. I just told people yesterday, wehn a guy came and said : you should just go to a studio, ,,, i said him that its not the whole truth, and some particullar analoge modelling plugins are halfway there. they can be used, and people should absolutely not point away from them as if theyre just a gimmick. Acoustic recordings more often can come to life with a tiny breeze of these type saturations, and i also see it as great tool, for the passionated dilligent homeproducer even. To make your acoustic sounds apperant, and stabilize them a bit.. I AGREE WITH YOU. I often can hear SOME of these Analoge emulations to introduce a certain dullnes, almost a earfatigue, but some particular ones dont have this fatiguin qualities.. I personally find the fatuguin ones almost unusable. And am astonished nobody hears that.. But tastes and goals are individual, so i may be biased, or may anyway be mistacken. I say it again, i liked Acoustica audio - Diamond eq THE FIRST BLUE VERSION. I also liked tone empire - Goliath, more i cant say, than i just found them to work, and well enough.

I already own some of the best saturation plugins on the market like Kelvin, Black Box etc. and even programmed some myself for personal needs. No need for this one. What I would love to see instead is some kind of a "stereo filter", so basically an imager where you can filter out any sound from a specific direction in a song. Like stereo enhancer but in reverse.

Seems like the Kirchhoff eq will up your alley. It has a panning option for frequency bands, so you can cut a frequency from a specific direction.

@@whitenoisestudio Hi Marlon, thx for your reply! Im afraid this wont work with basic panning/ms decoding. Let me give u an example: u get a stem from a client with 2 sounds, lets say 2 guitars, where one is panned 75% Left 25% Right and the other one the opposite 25L 75R. Which means they are panned around 45 degress to each side. Now you want to re-pan one of those guitars to the middle position for example. If using frequency dependent panning like in Kirchhoff or in Pro-Q, u start to affect both guitars since guitars share some of the same frequency content. So you basically need a way to decode the whole stereo image and take just the content (frequency independent) from a specific direction

I like your off the wall sense of humor. It's refreshing.....my answer to your question is NO, and especially if I have to PAY for it, and especially from Waves, as this past yr, I've worked at weaning myself away from them. I already have TOO many of THEIR plugins, about 60, and then got "surprised" by their wanting me to buy into their "Update Extortion Plan",,,,see some Vids by Barry Johns on that topic. I probably don't need 75% of them. I DID get the FREE "Lil Tube" saturation plugin from Waves, through maybe this other company of theirs called Magma. I also found out from Waves that IF I want to Upgrade to Windows 11, my Version12 plugins won't work, UNLESS I go with their Extortion update plan. I had to laugh. This week I saw a Greg Wells Vido slobbering over this plugin here, saying it did things he couldn't do elsewhere. That's odd because I also OWN his Bundle from Waves! I THINK a GREAT Topic for a Video would be this------if you have a HANDFUL of one type of plugin----say EQ or Compressor, how does someone CHOOSE which one to USE? Also on some plugins that have "enhancement features built-in", like RMPro for Stereo Width, or a motley of other plugins, how do you make sure you are not Over-Lapping some functions? Maybe a good topic for one of you guys. THANKS!

Thanks for your kind words! I feel you with Gregg Wells, Joe Cicarelli did similar comments and he just released a signature plugin with Leapwing Audio. Gives a bit of a sour taste, right. I am somewhat suprised with the Waves v12 windows 11 comment. I can run V12 plugins and even v11 plugins, without issue , on windows 11. I appreciate you suggection for a video topic! Will let it marinate in my brain and hopefully i can come up with something useful.

I also forgot about Waves and their system for many years, but just recently decided to wipe the dust off my v9 plugins and install them on my new Asus Win11 machine. Also bought a few new Waves plugs on BF sale, and they all seem to play along well. Waves have some stuff that can be easily replaced with other manufacturers' plugins, even some free ones, but I must admit I missed some of the plugins I bought as v9 back in the day. So, I've allowed Waves swim back into my mixes, without having to pay for updates. There are reasons for the updates, but fortunately they're not mandatory, at least not for me.

I personally am becoming increasingly uninterested in this kind of marketing when plugin companies coming up with a so called new plugin, when it's the exact same coding as the other ones with just a filter added or put in another place. (as an example. I'm not saying that is, for sure in the case here) Then hiring several well known mix engineers to talk about how fabulous it is. We've all seen this how many times now? lol Also, if a company develops a new technology for a plugin, are they really going to sell it for under $25? Look at the Clarity VX Pro and the price tag. And this thing is pretty powerful. My two cents on this anyways. If I'm wrong then we'll being seeing this plugin popping up in videos two years from now, Either way I'm still not buying it. Again, just my personal observation. (y)

I stray away from marketing BS as soon as a plugin launches. It’s marketing, so look at that very sceptical. Pricing is hard and also pretty subjective. Difference between the vx and vx pro is there, but don’t forget thy for professionals, money is usually different. With that I mean, they’re used to higher prices for top gear and it’s an investment, so tax deductible.

This is a nasty plugin. I don't have any preamp or saturation plugin that does what this does to a mix. This takes a mix from digital to analog by simply inserting it if you know what you are doing.
