Yes, Bill. Men and women need each other. Overall, for the wellbeing of humanity, but also for the wellbeing of most individuals in a relationship ("most" because there are always exceptions) Why? Because literally no one has it ALL under control and taken care of, every moment of every day. No matter how tough one is (and tough can have different meanings too). My husband and I have been married almost 20 years. I absolutely need my husband. And he needs me too. That's what being on a team means. Otherwise you're just alone, in parallel. If that's what one wants, cool. That's their business. But, frankly, that sounds incredibly lonely to me. And you can't have much of a marriage like that. You might have acquaintances you're fond of. But not even a true, deep friend, and certainly not a spouse. You have to be able to depend on one another. You can't do that it you don't allow yourselves to need the other person. Needing someone doesn't mean that codependent, unhealthy, damaging, immature crap either. People should be responsible adults. What needing the other person means is being open to being vulnerable, and being there, every day for each other like family. Otherwise, what's the point? But that's just my opinion. I know you don't feel that way and that's fine, for you. I just wouldn't want to live like that.

I understand that a lot of people don’t like the things that she says, but would you rather live in a country where she can say those types of things that she wants to say or would you rather live in a country where she’s black bagged and gulag’ed? Where Bill Maher gets it wrong is that there IS a certain level of *need* that goes with love. I love my husband. I need him to provide a level of security and support for me. He needs the same from me. We are over 30 years into this marriage, and it's going well so far.

Yes, women do "need" men in order to fulfill their God given roles in life. In today's world, women can be self-sufficient and earn a living and provide for themselves, but that's not God's intention. God has created men and women, male and female (only), and He created men and women equal in value, but he has defined roles for each. It has nothing to do with one being superior over the other, it's simply each sex staying within the boundaries He's set to fulfill the roles He's designed in order to thrive and be fruitful for His glory alone. So men and women do "need" each other to glorify God which is our purpose in life.
