Yes, the Ainu are very much real people xD The series is actually incredibly well researched. Some of the characters are also actual historical people. There's a running joke among fans, that Golden Kamuy is actually a cooking anime with occasional action haha

I'm excited to see you react to this since this show is criminally underrated and I hardly see anyone react to it! And answering a question you asked in the video. The Ainu are natives of Japan, I'm not sure where you come from but if you know American History essentially think of them similarly as Native Americans. Their land was stolen by the japanese, their culture and beliefs were looked down upon, they have their own language, and they were usually treated as second class citizens.

I love the cooking segments in this show, is a nice wholesome break between all the madness :)
