Anime history context: 1900s Japan >Pre Russo-Japanese war >Russia build railroad near Japanese territory (Manchuria) >Japan got mad went to war >northern Japan-Hokkaido not very modernized or industrialize (similar to Wild West in the US) > indigenous tribe got caught up and have to choose citizenship > Japan won some of the Russian island and Hokkaido >Hokkaido have a lot of gold people start panning >that’s where the story start >all the weapon,uniform,grenade,and technology potray in the anime is authentic af
one of the underrated anime, so many few react to it wonder why, this is one of the anime that all the characters will be loved because of their different personalities it also includes Sugimoto's enemies
Enjoyed your reaction from Japan! Although story telling, voice acting, music, historical&cultural element is top notch, the animation and pace are unstable in season1&2.And the quality will be better from season 3. Also interesting that there are many parodies of Western movies and Japanese movies.
I hope you can watch all of it and like it because it mixtures all elements ( Ainu's traditional customs, hunting treasure, fighting, tasty food, hilarious, etc) very well.
