I haven't even upgraded from PS4 to PS5 yet... I feel like consoles are becoming like smartphones, the differences aren't major enough to warrant the cost.

The Switch is my favorite console of all time. One that is a little bit stronger and newer would be amazing.

Nintendo could benefit from having better specs in a new version of the switch.. Nintendo has a better gasp of gamers than both Sony and Microsoft .. Nintendo is the one company who seems to have first party studio games and indie games as a major focus.. I honestly feel they have the perfect balance of marketing and strategy.. Hopefully they have watched the success of steamdeck are adding things learned from it..

Without even watching the video I know the answer is yes. Adaptability to anybody's situation. Being able to play on the TV or on the go was revolutionary for me personally and literally all they need to do is make the console just more powerful and fix the joy-con problem and I'm good. They can keep it the exact same dimensions and look exactly the same and just improve everything significantly and I will be happy

i've just started watching. a switch 2 would work if they left it retrocompatible with switch 1. if not, they'll have real problems if it's not a really groundbreaking toy with a new gimmick.

Switch is my favorite system of all time. In the morning my roommate plays Tetris 99, in the evening I play KOTOR on it. I'm 100% not at all ready to rep!ace it.

The situation was similar when the wii launched. Granted this means that for Nintendo to jolt the industry the switch 2 needs to be just as successfull in pulling in "normal people" to the gaming market. It's hard but if anyone can pull it off it's Nintendo.

I've been wanting to get a switch ever since it came out, just not being able to afford one when I had a job and now I'm unemployed pretty much stopping that. If they do a switch 2 then I also hope it'll be backwards compatible as there's a lot of switch games I really would like to play.

I know it would be too expensive, but I would love to see a kind of 2 screen set up that looks like an oversized DS if portable, but the top part is where the processing is and the bottom is just streamed video and controls. At home you can take the screen off and dock it to the TV and use the first part as the controller or you and another could each have your own screen for multiplayer games. Main thing is to not require games to use both screens at all times (maybe have a option when in handheld, but don't force it like the Wii U) and this one extra function could keep it ahead of others like the Steam Deck, but I admit I don't think the idea would be practical as just keeping the console one unit.

If Mario Maker 3 and Legend of Zelda Maker are launch titles or are releasing shortly after, I would get a Switch 2 in a heartbeat!

Yes because it's been 7 years since the Switch released. The Switch is struggling to keep up with the latest AAA games and straight up can't play a lot of them without cloud gaming or a serious downgrade. The Switch is far from perfect.

If the Switch 2 dock had a graphics accelerator that would be awesome.

Nintendo has proven that you don't need to be as powerful as the PS5 or Xbox to be successful. AAA games are not doing so well these days compared to the indie games.

Something to consider is Japan is going through a recession right now, so a brand new product might ironically be extremely expensive there compared to the US.

I wonder if one reason why the industry is in the state it's in is because there's just too many damn games, and not enough gamers. Back in the good ole 80's you'd play the s^&* out of one game. Now, there's so many to choose from, with varying prices.

funny how she thinks like I do. My nephew JUST got a Switch for Christmas a few months ago and absolutely loves it. I personally think it would be cool if there was a "Switch Home" where you simply have a Switch console that isn't portable; more of a Desktop that has easily expandable memory with SSD's as well as support for WiiMotes and better, bigger new motion controllers they could EASILY make money off of.

It can use a refresh at the least after all this time. It should not be hard to pump a nice extra chunk of power without making it cost much more. I hope that they do not bother with 4k, would much rather the power go to the game rather then to make the screen be four times the detail.

It'd be happy if there was a pause on consel development and PC advancement until the disposable income increases world wide. A switch 2 making it so we can get newer games on the switch like FFXVI would be good. and the developers can not worry about improving their games graphics or textures but mastering the graphics people expect from them we'd be in a better spot.

Yes. Many Switch games have performance issues. Using dynamic resolution often drops them to a muddy mess. Do Switch games even have anti-aliasing, because I see jaggies everywhere in Switch games. Many 3rd party games, particularly AAA games, skip Switch because they can't run on it, and this issue is getting more pronounced now that many developers have abandoned PS4/XB1 in favour of PS5 and SX. We 100% need a Switch 2, no question. I'm sure Nintendo thinks so as well. They would love to get the next new Resident Evil or Final Fantasy. And gamers would appreciate better performance and resolution. It's been 7 years since Switch launched. There should be no resistance to a new generation, and I don't understand why anyone in their right mind would take issue with it.

During pandemic I was thinking whether to buy a new gaming PC or some console. Eventually Switch won for me because I can take it with me while traveling (what I do a lot). And boy did it exceed my expectations... I played so many games I played in the past (plenty of remakes of old games are made for switch) and games I haven't played ever that were absolutely great. If they make version with better hardware and maintain compatibility with games I already bought for switch 1 I'm buying into it.

We do need switch 2, or else even more current gen games and ports will be left behind. And I would be estatic to have games like FF7 Rebirth on the Switch 2. And the Switch technology was already outdated when it released. So I can't wait for a Switch 2!!!

The problem with Steam is the same problem Nintendo addressed with their seal of quality. The Atari and the 1983 crash came from millions of third party titles that were crap. Steam has done very little to prevent the fecal matter mill from producing crap. If you want good gaming, or gaming at all for the future, don't support Steam or Microsoft.

We need a gamecube sequel. The gamecube was my favorite Nintendo system of all time. Had a great library and tons of charm. It was the last time Nintendo attenpted to compete. It had twilight princess bd windwaker which aremy 2 favorites of tha franchise. It gave us luigis mansion and metroid prime! I miss that little cube!

It would be great to have a Switch 2 competing with PSP 2. Now that would be the battle of the colossus.

I would like a Switch that plays all the Switch games that I have and gets comparable ports of 3rd party titles that the PS5 and/or Xbox Series X get. Until I get a Switch that can competently play Resident Evil Village and Tekken 8. I'll want a new one.

Yes. The problem with the current Switch is the CPU is not drawing fast enough for the GPU to render. That is why there are jitters, stuttering, etc.

Yeah! I think we have needed a new one for years! Even some of the first party title's framerates are completely unacceptable for me and I wish they were the Nintendo of old and start lowering the price of their systems and games a bit after the console's life half-way point!

I’d say it’s like do we really need a Ps5 slim? No. But as long as someone is willing to pay for it they will have it. However, do I WANT a Nintendo Switch 2? You know, as a kid I’d be amped but, I could keep playing the OG switch for another 4 years if they keep supporting it with great 1st party games and great 3rd party support. If it’s a major upgrade where it’s “oh gotta have it!!” Nowadays except for the OG Switch I haven’t been amped about another console. It’s about how fun the games are.

Nintendo is in good standing with financials. They don’t do big budget first party games. Look how much they got out of tears of the kingdom in a 16gb cartridge and an already built game engine from the Wii U era.

backwards compatibility is what im mainly hoping for, but i get what you mean about the current state of gaming. for people who haven't got on the latest gen hardware, an updated Switch 2 or whatever they end up calling it, that can only help the gaming industry get there heads in order. id like to get a PS5, just can't afford it, and the fact you got people pushing for a Pro. it's like how much is that gonna cost, if Nintendo was smart which they usually are, $350 would be the sweet spot, but they usually also sell a slightly cheaper version at $299. now some might say, that would make it underpowered. the Switch 2 is likely to be underpowered anyway compared to it's rivals, and being that Nvidia is involved once again, if people want backwards compatibility guess what, changing the Switch 2 to something else will not go over well. yeah but it's Nvidia, but Nvidia is not getting what they want, Nintendo is paying them. so your basically looking at a tegra 5 or 6, it would be a newer version basically. whatever was in the Switch, the Switch 2 will be an upgraded version of that. so does that mean it won't be as powerful as Series S which is the least powerful current gen console. i don't know what it'll be, but if the Steam Deck is anything to go by, we might be looking at something similar. And in case people aren't aware, the Series S is more powerful than the Steam Deck Oled. but people don't care about that, because current games run on it. because it's not that far behind.

NS2 can't even run BotW at a steady 30, so yeah. I own a Switch and I haven't turned it on in months. I'd rather just emulate my games instead. As for whether it'll be compatible with existing Switch games. Everything we've heard indicates that the new chipset is from nVidia, which will definitely be compatible.

I’d rather have Achievements/Trophies on Switch than a switch 2 tbh. It’s kinda the big reason I don’t use my switch for third party titles.

Let us keep our physical copy of the games we buy and they need to make games for older systems, bc not everyone can pay for Internet or new systems to play on

let me share a business trick in high tier business. anticompetitive markets. sometimes companies intentionally lose money in order to squash competition and keep the industry monopolistic in the longer run. i think some examples is league of legends which invested alot of money mainly to just simply make a great game. they ended up actually being really successful. but i think to make goood games that should be the mindset, where it's people who don't need to make alot of money can do the sacrifices to make something awesome.

I finally afford my Switch Oled the beginning of 2023. I wanted to play the two Fire Emblem games, Breath of the wild, and Hogwarts Legacy. I have 15 games now and I am very happy. If the new machine is backwards compatible - I will start saving to buy one!! 😏👍

The Switch wasn’t designed to compete with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, it wasn’t meant to compete with those consoles, people need to stop comparing the Switch with home consoles, the Switch is a hybrid console a portable Xbox 360 and PS3, I love my Switch OLED, it’s the reason I’m still interested in what passes for gaming and the Witcher 3 on Switch is a miracle port and while it’s not the best version, it’s impressive that they got it to run on Switch and I don’t have a PS4 or any other console by choice and I’ve gone in to my reasons why already, but the Switch is amazing and it’s first party games are why I bought the Switch along with Nintendo’s philosophy which resonates with me. I do think we need Switch 2 as the current Switch can’t last forever.

If its another tablet spec 2.0 it will be emulated within few months so i hope they create something high end

You might be right we don't need a new one, but home theatre enthusiasts will disagree. If we get a switch 2, means NVIDIA will develop a new ARM Processor which will then power the New NVIDIA Sheild TV. This Device definitely needs an upgrade in order to keep up with the specs of mobile phones to be able to play games and consume content 🤓

Yes and No. The Gameboy still had sustainable sales and a lifeline with Pokemon and the failed Virtual boy which was a mild successor to the Gameboy. I think they will look at the Wii U's failed marketing status and really make a sequel be a bit different and stand out as it cannot look like an add on. Sony's model is 10 years for a console and the last 3 are there with another console. There is likely going to be a Nintendo online pass. It would be cool if they made it so their "Gamepass" had it so that they can't play any and all games at once, but they had to unlock some games by beating the game. That way the library is open but it gives meaning to the games. I really don't know how they could change it up outside of adding in VR or AR to the switch. I could see maybe an AR with a projector on the switch 2 and you have to swat flies or use the light gun to shoot the open air but that is too much information in the ether.

There is no question that the Switch 2 should be backwards compatible, it should be by default. If it is not then I will pass.

Switch has always been like 2 generations behind and can't even run many Nintendo first party games properly, ie: Tears of the Kingdom. It's been out for ages and same as always, there's always reluctant latecomers vs early adopters. As long as it's backwards compatible, nobody's being left out.

I understand the cynicism from some gamers but the Switch is a damn fine console/ handheld that’s had a healthy life span. Unlike Sony and XBox, Nintendo can justify a brand new console, especially if it’s backwards compatible.

I reckon nintendo may give us (excuse the pun) a game changer. Whatever they announce, hopefully it'll be backward compatible right back to GBA. I know this is a complete pipe dream though and we'll be lucky if it plays the current switch games as it stands. The issue with an AAA games handheld is the the heat dissipation and battery life will suffer at the hands of a powerful processor/gpu unless they have something completely out of the box in development.. The ROG Ally etc get very hot and with Nintendo being known as the family friendly handhelds, I think this could be an issue if the family are holding a roasting hot piece of tech for an extended time. I hope im wrong though and we see an awesome new machine that reinvents gaming for all like the PS2 and latterly the Wii did back in the day. Although I'd be equally happy if they took a look at the gamecube again and made a worthy successor to it. No. Game devs just need to start targeting the switch. Problem in the gaming industry SOLVED. been doing a bit of thinking and I don’t think we need a new switch. Game devs aren’t making money designing super expensive and advanced games. It seems the industry is realizing it’s ceiling and might actually go trough a pulling away from working on “cutting edge” expensive games which would mean less 3rd party games which means less of a need for advanced hardware for at least a few more years. I’ve recently found a lot of joy in playing animal well, which can run on a potato. So yea I don’t think there’s a need for a switch 2…instead, I do think there’s a need for Sony and Microsoft to make handhelds first. Console gaming on tv vs. playing on the switch honestly feels like a dated way to play. Well my comment isn’t changing Nintendos mind about anything but I don’t think switch 2 will do anywhere near as well as the switch is doing…which brings in another point….game devs will make games for the most popular console because they need to make money….and the most popular console will be the weak sauce original switch. An NS2 makes tons more sense than any new hardware from Microcrap or Sony. Especially with the excessive scalping of PS5 units.

Did we need a new PlayStation or Xbox four years ago? Not nearly as badly as we need a new Nintendo console right now. In fact, I would argue that Sony and Microsoft acted at least two years too soon. Meanwhile, now, two years later, I would argue is at least two years too late (and counting) for a Switch 2.

If it’s a lot more powerful and can play a lot more high-quality AAA games, then yes. If not, then no !

nah, there's no discusions, there's smartfridges with more compute power than the switch. it's holding game development activly back for nofriendo, the most evil gaming corporation of them all, and it is being played against the wall, by the plettera of mini handheld PCs releasing. if another deck developer uses the new nvidia chip, it'll be over for nintendo, cause they still have the chance to penetrate some of the PC segment. and it ain't about dick meassuring with the consoles. the consoles are holding back game development, cause ppl are done with 30fps. it's a necessity to keep players on the system, cause the consoles are bleeding users to PC, which is modular and expandable. being retro is all nice and good, but it ain't cutting it anymore, if they loose the 60fps race. we now have proof that some ppl have faster eyes. i'm at the top of that segment. so maybe you have them slow eyes that can deal with that, but many others can't. i normally double dip on games that interest me, but i didn't on FF16, cause the performance mode was a horrible joke. luckily soon we'll get the PC version. i even kept myself from consuming spoilers, so that i can enjoy it at a later date. why do y'all ladies always call things a weiner off anyway? it's demand and supply. ppl have enjyed steady 60fps now, and most ppl agree that it's just superior to 30. i know the industry is in shambles but nintendo isn't really, PC has indy games bonanza right now on steam revivng almost perished game styles. there is still stuff to run on a switch 2 or more potent PC handheld. sony or xbox, yeah, those would probably have a hard time joining the race, cause they only produce things which DEI kommisars allow them to, but the industry will either adapt, or sony and xbox, and a few many big publishers will go down like a G6. NVIDIA is involved with them. This is kind of a big deal. They don't have a foot hold in consoles. Very soon, just like on PC, it will be AMD v NVIDIA.

If Nintendo started making phones, it would absolutely DOMINATE the market.

There are a lot of games on Switch that barely work. I understand that there is optimization here, but still the hardware is old. It's time to release a new console. But this is Nintendo, I doubt that they will allow you to transfer the old library to the new console, most likely you will have to buy the games again, and I cannot support this, nor can my wallet.

It needs a switch 2. Games are low resolution to the point i stopped buying games for it unless i saw they actually hit the 1080p resolution and a solid framerate. The games are just blurry. I dont care if it looks real, i just dont want to look at games that make me feel like i need glasses
