I studied a lot about this plant but it is difficult to keep it nice without the brown leaves: - because I have floor heating I placed the pot higher - I have a humidifier next to it as the air is very dry in my house - placed it with as much daylight as possible, but in the cold winter it will be too cold I think especially at night, at the other hand they don't like to be moved.... - the only thing I havent done recently is remove it from the pot to see how the roots ate doing. If I manage to take it out of the pot, how do I recognize root rot????
Yes, you would want to water thoroughly when the top inches of soil are dry and ensure it is in a spot where it is getting a lot of bright, indirect light!
Can I repot it in the winter if it has got brown spots and leaves are dropping off? Doesn't seem to be root rot as the soil is dry but I don't know what else to do :(
Is it getting enough light? Try a grow light or placing it directly in front of and up against your brightest window to see if that helps it turn around. Make sure you are watering when the top inches of soil are dry and ensure the water drains well out the bottom drainage holes. Are the leaves not supposed to fall off ever? Mine drops a leaf every few months i thought it was normal as the plant grows but yours had leaves all the way down. Mine had some brown spots when I bought it but I immediately repotted it and all new leaves have stayed nice maybe it is just shedding old problem leaves.
Some leaf drop is normal as the plant focuses its energy on growing new leaves up top. But if you have a lot of leaves drop all at once, it is a sign that something is off. Maybe it was exposed to too cold of temps, was it moved recently, is the soil not retaining water etc. For more support, please join and post inside our helpful community! fiddleleaffigplant.com/community
