Well thought out and explained. I would add looking at it longer term and averaging it , say over 10 years of ownership. I factor in new sails and rigging and possible engine change and then a contingency for other unexpected surprises. And not forgetting that costs go up exponentially with every few feet of boat length.

Thanks Graeme. I think the longer term is the best way to look at it. It would have been interesting to add in all the things that I didn’t have to buy. I probably don’t want to know…

Great video. I’m in the process of purchasing so this was exactly what I was looking for. Cheers

Love the boat at the 2 minute mark East or west of harbour bridge and Spit bridge have different rates I’m not sure you need to antifoul every year, I get the bum scrubbed every 3-4 months and antifoul last a few years Water temp and location can greatly affect the hull Good effort by the creator 👏👏👏

@@peterbowler4521 Thanks Peter! The Northshore 330 at the 2 minute mark is lovely, I agree. Mine is the Northshore 340 featured elsewhere in the video and I look forward to its next buff so it sparkles like that 330. It’s great to hear that you’re getting a few years out of your anti foul. I’m just about to book a diver for mine as she’s getting sluggish. Thanks for your kind comments, all the best, Tony.

So, you could live on the water on your comfy boat, in Sydney for less than $10k per year.. Thats pretty cheap living even factoring in the cost of a decent boat. I wonder how long it gets to slide by like that.. being Sydney and all? House repayments + insurance + rates and costs of running all things elec in a house...Boat life is looking more and more affordable by the day.

I hear more and more of young couples buying big cats and living aboard because they can't get a mortgage. I don't know where they park though as they couldn't stay too long legally in any place in NSW...

Thank god sailing is cheap ! I changed my SOP’s years ago , sold the yacht , purchased 7 Lamborghinis , ( different colour for each day of the week ) , a city penthouse , an investment property in Monaco 🇲🇨 , 2 helicopters 🚁 , a country property ( dodgy tax right off ) and a lot of gold bullion and I still have money left over 🤷‍♂️ , yep , boats are great 😳

Yes boating is definitely a lifestyle choice that you have to be prepared and willing to pay for.

@@christopherrussell1677I sold my 2 bedroom apartment with garage for $7,500. Things were much cheaper in 1977.

@@christopherrussell1677 I don’t think people would mind so much if wages kept up and you actually feel like you were getting value for money.
