Counter balance, don't counter balance...either way, go PRACTICE and see what works for you when you're doing my drills. I don't care what you do to complete them, just complete them. MotoJitsu.com/store for my books, app, merch, etc.

Fast Eddie How is the neotec helmet? Does it run small and u need a size bigger than normal? Would you buy it again? Is it a good summer helmet or hotter than most? I'm rolling with a bell in the summer and a Sedici in the winter last year but wanting to get down to a single helmet all year.

This is the best video on this important subject. I got a fully dressed Honda VTX 1300 for my first bike last year and was having a lot of difficulty at low speed turns. After this vid and some practice I can whip that thing around a whole lot better. My comfort level has gone from a 2 to an 8. Thank you very much!

Counter balance is indeed shifting your weight on the opposite side of the turn (the highest side of the motorcycle while leaning) but pressing the footpegs has nothing to do with it. In other words, you are counter balancing every time you are just shifting your weight, since the centre of mass is shifting regardless you are putting pressure on your footpegs.

Yeah. I would say he was still counter-balancing on the last demo by leaning in the opposite direction. But he did seem to need to go faster for tighter turns 🤔 Check this guy's channel out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-R80gMsu7NaE.html - He's pretty good at explaining stuff. And kind of funny too. At the end of the video here he mentions the need for counter-balancing 👍

Excellent! I'm still holding practice sessions here in Florida. I'm getting better moving to different motorcycles as I do the techniques as a demo for different people on thier bike so they can see that it is possible. I tell people that come out, "Practice till you get it right. Then keep practicing till you can't get it wrong."

After your last uturn video I practiced the extreme counter balancing and found pushing my knee into my bike helped get me into a position further out and could reduce my turn radius even more.

I'm curious, when trying the extreme counter balancing manoeuvres, if you ever dump the bike. I have an aversion to dumping my bike, so I don't even want to try that stuff, but I realize too that worrying dumping the bike is holding me back.

It's my understanding that you CAN U-turn without counter balancing but you gotta be locked and dialed and coming in with some more speed. It seems counter balance lets you go slower and lean harder and then snap back up and make changes quicker.

Great stuff man. Was running through white belt drills yesterday. I noticed that with my bike, which has a very wide seat, it was easier NOT to shift my butt over to counterbalance. While playing around, I discovered what you just said here, I could make the same 15ft or so turn regardless of what I was doing with my body position. It seemed to really come down to using the friction zone to maintain speed/radius/lean angle. Thanks for all you do brother.

I see it as trading between counterbalance and speed. Both provide stability. For a fixed curve, you can use less speed if you counterbalance compared to if you don't. Doing the u-turn more slowly can be beneficial when less grip and also for nerves

To me, the more speed/momentum I carry on a U Turn the bike feels better and turns well. Not crazy speed. But not slow either. With slow speeds, you get that "it's gonna fall" feeling which then forces you to put your leg down to prepare for a fall. Then there are the ones that ride really heavy cruisers training the insane multiple tight lean turns. Like it's nothing.

I used to counter balance everytime and found it fun, until one day I didn't see a small patch of oil and my front tire went under and down I went.. hurt my pinkie finger and scratch my new sadle bags , no biggies. But now I don't do that anymore, just stay up straight, lock the bar full turn and go nice and slow and can usually stay within 1 lane.

Hi Greg.. I've been riding since just over a year on a 160cc bike... and am a little afraid seeing it has really skinny tyres from putting my knee down in a parking lot... how can I overcome that fear ? I have learnt nearly all of your low speed maneuvers and drill available on your channel bit I still can't get just the knee part down... Your tutorials have been really inspirational and easy o understand.. and they've helped me become a really polished rider. Now I wish to enter a amateur racing league and need to polish my track skills Ps : love from India 🇮🇳 God bless you sir !!

Trust your tires and go slow. Warm up your tires just so you have maximum grip and slowly (but surely) go knee down. Don't chicken out, I believe that your skills are there and you are just fearful to drop your bike or to get hurt in some sort of way. If it helps you use all the gear you would use on a regular basis and get some sliders, maybe a friend or two to help motivation wise and to be there for you. We all believe you. You got this ;)

@Timemachine69

No need to over exaggerate the counter balance … just keep the throttle loaded and constant (idle to 1500 rpm depending on bike) (idle for zx14r and similar bikes) … keep power to the rear wheel (friction zone), use only the rear brake for control, and keep that head turn. Then just practice practice practice … before you leave home, do a u-turn on your street and another u turn, circle, figure-8 when you come home… or the closest side street near your house … once you know the basic technique it’s just practice practice and more practice. Incorporate at least one uturn in all your rides.

You're torso is still staying upright on the last one which is still a little counter balance as opposed to leaning with the bike which would be zero counter balance. Just what it appears to be. I don't know much as I'm still a beginner and only been riding 3 years. Please don't take this as a negative comment, just an observation. Love your videos. Thanks.
@brohofied2561
@brohofied2561 2 года назад
Yeah i wanted to comment on that one but you already did ^^' , he is counter balancing on the last one, the fact he is not using his legs to reposition his body doesn't mean he is not using his upper body by not moving it while lowering the bike, like a kinda involuntary counter balancing X). If he really didn't wanted to use counter balance then he had to keep his upper body in line with the bike, but that will imply going faster on the u-turn cause of the added weight to the inside of the turn. Check some moto Gymkhana videos to see how they take extremely sharp u-turns by going in line or inside the bike not counterbalancing at all, but, you have to go fast on the u-turn to pull i off.

@BrandonWest87

Folks typically do the figure 8s in a parking lot square of 4 spaces. It’s pretty tight! 😅
@enhinyerorider5914
@enhinyerorider5914 2 года назад
Not for everyone but for me is to get full steering lock before I get satisfied. So min distance will depend on motorcycles since there are differences in max steering lock and wheelbase.
@echevarriawilson
@echevarriawilson 2 года назад
Start with a goal of 18ft x 32ft regardless of what bike you have. Then decrease the radius as you get tighter and tighter coming to full lock and full lean. As you learn to transition you can decrease the 32ft length as well.

I tend to load my outside butt cheek, less extreme than the foot peg but I would still say it is counterbalancing.
@aussiemotolife347
@aussiemotolife347 2 года назад
Not sure that putting your weight on one foot peg changes your bike’s and body’s common centre of gravity. So unless you move your body in a meaningful way your CG will remain much the same and there will be minimal benefit.
