Yes yes yes! So many people are more blessed than they can ever imagine. People who have all of their limbs, disease free, nothing physically wrong with them, and waste their life complaining about what they don't have. Drives me CRAZY!

I agree. We can all get frustrated sometimes and venting is healthy, but complaining constantly is just pathetic. There is so much to enjoy, we should just try to enjoy it.

Anyone who has lost a job in that situation knows exactly how that feels and what you need to do. Guys like the one discussed in this video are just not as common as they used to be...we've lost something and I hope we find it again.

i still live with my mom and im 39, but i pay 800 to 1000 dollars a month, pay a good chunk of my mom's income taxes, i dont think i am spoiled.

He's a young guy with a family to provide. He can do this right now because he has time on his side vs Dave who is much older (to his comment that he can't do it himself) We all do what we got to do to survive. I still commend this young man for doing what he's doing. "A few years of suffering for a lifetime of happiness"

PLENTY of retirees live in vans FULL TIME. There's an entire huge movement of van dwellers. But be wary of the leader of the retiree van dwellers. He gives out some dangerous advice.

This story brings tears because i can relate. Ive been so broke just scraping by with the bare minimum working long hours. Now its different when i work long hours making good money and i miss them so much it hurts but not being broke is worth it. God bless

This was inspiring for sure, For me I am trying to get motivated, but I am having a tough go. Not to throw a pity party or make crybaby excuses but my depression and my own issues with having mild autism, making it a tough mountain to climb. I reached step 2, have about just shy of $3000 in CC debt and a little bit of medical debt. Stories like this however do show it CAN be done and I have to keep going, even on days I want to crawl into a hole. Thanks.

I think it's awesome, but at the same time I think a lot of guys wouldn't mind living in a van as long as you can get basic things to take care of yourself. It's putting my wife and 2 children in there that doesn't go over so well haha

I married a great husband as well. Someone who is not only working and budgeting responsibly to take care of his own family/our marriage but also his family and my family. We are both committed to each other and each other's families - yes inlaws. Our religion has taught us to serve others as the purpose of life, and the immediate people we care for are both of our family members. We get in shape financially not only for ourselves but for the extended families. This kind of passion that gets us up in the morning, unlike any other passion, never fades.

You’d be surprised how many people live out of a vehicle and travel. His lawn mower could have been a zero turn $2,000 mower. Just type in “living in van”. I almost want to try it. Put a solar system on top. Customize the interior.

There are people that choose, as this man has chosen, all the time. They are called “truck drivers.” When they aren’t moving goods down the road, they are trying to get some sleep in the bunk of the rig. Fighting over regulation, hours of service laws, we need our stuff now mentality of customers, motorists who feel entitled to be on the highways at all hours of the day or night, we just do the best we can to get it there in a timely manner. Some of us are home daily or weekly. Others choose to be away from home weeks or months at a time. Remember this the next time you are out for a quick jaunt to the coffee drive thru. That driver that’s “in your way” has encountered many motorists like you in his or her 700 mile day and they will take a 10 hour break to do it all again tomorrow to support their family. If you have it, you have it because a truck got it to where you got it.

While I agree with Dave overall, I do think there is an underlying problem for some of these people. Job hunting is difficult and frustrating, and sometimes it's difficult to know what you want to do or whether your pursuits are worth it. Companies usually don't bother to give you the reasons why they rejected you, which makes it difficult to know how to achieve the required standard, which is understandably frustrating. Also, I don't complain much, but that has actually been a hindrance for me sometimes. When you're struggling or feeling bad about yourself, bottling up emotions and not complaining can be quite harmful for your mental health. I've experienced this first hand. Complaining and venting frustration is a healthy thing to do sometimes.

The best electrician in the world can't start an electrical business. All his time will be consumed with regulations, licenses, taxes, and whatever else. And he'll have to do sales--he may be good at sales, but it's a different skill from electrician and he may not.

That guy who called was clearly a smart and savvy guy with a highly marketable skill. Most people could not do what he is doing, whether or not they want to. Even if you agree that most people with serious financial problems are in part dealing with the results of bad decisions, this idea that "this guy doesn't complain so no one else should either" is just wrong.

Agreed but not at others compelled expense. There are some that live like that from poor choices. Not every story like this are circumstances beyond the subjects control.
