But simply interacting with native Americans was sufficient because even the flu was fatal to them. Spaniards never looked for slaves.Spain declared all native americans living in Spain's controlled territories as citizens as soon as 1542, just 50 years after Colon's first trip, and slavery was declared ilegal for all Spain citizens which included native americans. In fact, Spanish had no black, asian or latin american population at all untill 1990's because they never took slaves from their former colonies. First time I saw a black person in my hometown I was 10 years old and I've not made 40yo yet.

Native americans were genocided in the US 100%. You should be fighting that with every fiber of your being. The US has had multiple "wars" with natives that were just extermination campaigns. They also forcibly removed children from there parents to put them in boarding schools so they lose their culture, which is one of the steps of genocide. Look up some quotes from the "great" founding fathers that said that they would not stop fighting the natives until every last one was eradicated. Then moving the natives to reservations that they dont even own the land to, as it is held in trust by the US government. The US is one of the worst countries ever and was built on genocide and the enslavement of black people.

There was genocide in California, and against some of the Apache bands, and I assume against other groups, but it was generally unnecessary, and the intent to wholly destroy the tribes frequently wasn’t there. It also ignores collaborator tribes like the Pawnee, Yuma, Maricopa, varying Apache bands, and I think the Blackfoot. You can say there was an overarching cultural genocide through the residential schools, but I think there should be a differentiation between cultural and straight genocide.

They were more like small genocides by different European powers of several centuries. Not all native wars were genocidal but many of them were.
