It's that time once again to dig into the ultimate color pie quiz in order to gain a better understanding of ourselves. By pairing up our own colors and understanding what color philosophy is behind them we can gain an objective view into our own minds and beliefs and isn't that why the color pie is so amazing, even outside of Magic: the Gathering.

When I was a teenager and at the start of my adulthood I was such a simic, so obsessed with progress and technology. Lately I started to feel a conflict between if I'm azorius (because I love cooperation and technology for the well-being of everybody) or an izzet (because I love self-determination, expression and autonomy). The test solved the conflict, they just gave me Jeskai xD 25% blue, 22% white, 20% red

Grixis here! Which makes sense. Usually I get izzet with a lean towards red over blue, but the presence of black seems pretty apt. I’ve gotten a bit more self involved over time, but introspection and “who I am” has always mattered more to me than what others think I should be. Red, blue, and black seem pretty much the colors of someone who values their own growth and individuality over what others, tradition, or society say they should be. Given that I’ve been a kind of “I’m going my way, you all can go yours,” kind of person since I was a kid, I’d say that’s pretty fitting

Retaking the test today was actually pretty important to me. I used to always get Gruul, but some time ago White started taking space and for the whole last year I always got Naya. Recently some thing went a little bit off in my life, and when talking about it with people close to me they always pointed to me most White aspects me being at fault. Now I got Gruul again, with White taking a huge backsit this time. I think I've projected a bit , but knowing which values I've wanted to prioritize and which to let go felt important.

I got Jeskai. this is my first time taking this test, and after watching your video on the subject, I find this result to be quite accurate. My main color was blue, with white and red almost tied, a desire for knowledge given direction by my spirituality given sense of right and wrong, and honed by a desire to make practical whatever theory I end up holding. The practical theology (and a love of melodrama) of a romantic paladin.

As far as I remember, opening my first ravnica packs, azorius was my jam, felt home, and dimir was a guilty pleasure. Reflecting on who I was as a teen, esper was the way to describe my personality. I went in and out of the game and the azorius core was still there, but with time and learning life lessons, I dropped the black for some red, following passions and feelings a lot more, being less cold. In my playgroup, I'm labelled as the blue mage, and when I took the test some months ago, after almost 20 years of magic and watching all your videos, I was indeed a blue mage, with white and red as close seconds. And that's why I follow your channel : even without the test, your way of seeing the colours, if paired with a deep understanding of who you are, allows you to see where you align even without taking a test. It has been a fun game to try to guess the colors of every new player at our table since :)

I definetivly realised the i lack the discipline and commitment to be boros and that curiosity that i thought was the izzet in me actually had a pretty large green streak. And most eye opening of all, after reading the descripions of temur and the other colors: it all makes sense. I ended up in Grixis yet again, but it seems like blue is growing a little over time. I used to be more red-centred Grixis, but I've gone back to university since the last time I took a quiz like this, so that tracks. | White: 12.5% | Blue: 26.6% | Black: 21.5% | Red: 24.2% | Green: 15.3% | I'm not inherrently opposed to traditions or conventional authority, but I believe that those things should always be subject to rational thought and should support the freedom and welfare of the individual, not the system. If a tradition or an authority becomes irrational or oppressive, then it's no longer valid and should be removed. (Just a clarification on what I mean by rational: If something does no harm and makes people feel happy and/or safe, then I think that's a perfectly reasonable and rational reason to exist, regardless of its internal logic or lack thereof. But that "does no harm" part is non-negotiable; a belief or system that hurts people has to change or be removed.)
@Dreadwyrm
@Dreadwyrm 10 месяцев назад
Could you please explain by want you mean by does not do harm? Because depending on point of view you could argue that ever sociality harms someone. To some people, the socality may be too restrictive to others not restrictive enough. Let's say a new a law is created it may make one group of people feel safe and happy but the make another feel angry and unsafe.
@prophetisaiah08
@prophetisaiah08 10 месяцев назад
@@Dreadwyrm Well, I would define harm as something that damages or threatens to damage a person either physically, socially, or psychologically. I don't consider loss of property to be harm unless that loss would result in damage as specified above. When there's a conflict over a tradition or law like you've suggested, then I will always side with those that have less institutional power. Those with more institutional power usually use traditions and laws like the ones you've described to enhance their own convenience, not to protect their survival. Plus, I don't think an elevated state of institutional power should be held by anyone for very long regardless. Those at the top should fall to give those at the bottom the chance to rise; if they do so willingly, it's far less painful for everyone involved, but it will happen eventually in one way or another.

@@Dreadwyrm Yeah, this philosophy is far from simple, so I get the confusion. It's full of nuance and dependant on undestanding a lot of context about each individual situation. People are complicated, and that's ok. And that makes organizing a society a complex mess that's never perfect and always needs revision (and sometimes needs revolution) to actually be beneficial to the individuals within that society.
@Dreadwyrm

@prophetisaiah08 It's the nature of time the old ways must give in. It's the nature of time the new ways come in sin. When new meets the old, it always ends the ancient ways and as history told, the old ways go out in a blaze. These are the opening lyrics to a song called Shiroyama, and there've been stuck with since I first heard them. Sociality and the law are always in the past or the present, but the present becomes the past very quickly.

What's so interesting about the color pie is that each represents concrpts rather than hard stances and catagoriezes them and compares each to one another. It's like difining what's cool vs lame, or hot vs beautiful. We have cultral and personal beliefs of what these words mean but can never have a clear answer. However, catagories like the color pie lets us automatically compare and contrast each aspect of these concepts to better understand the world it's applied to.

I always get Jeskai nowadays. I am still deeply rooted in Blue, which has been my dominant colour for years. The way I value and pursue academic knowledge, constant improvement and why my perfectionism can sometimes be a detriment are obvious hints. I believe that White, in combination with Blue, has made me an incredibly idealistic person and is reflected in my philosophies and political ideals. I see Red as my source of creativity and vast imagination but also as the source of my zeal. Jeskai is often portrayed in a monastic way, but I argue that these colours can be as zealous as Boros, Mardu and Naya. The staunch ideologies you hold dear and fight for are a result of your Azorius piece of the colour pie, and when adding a substantial amount of Red, you are given a sense of agency, urgency and passion to fight for what you believe in. Great video, as always!

Depending on the year or time of year, it's either Bant or Temur with blue dominant. The two consistent colors being Blue and Green with black always being the one I rank lowest in. The fact that black is so consistently low honestly surprises me. Maybe I'm a less selfish person than I think myself to be. The prominence of blue however does not surprise me. What it suggests is that I am a scholarly sort who is driven by curiosity and a desire for improving myself and my community and bound by the belief that one can lead to the other in a symbiotic feedback loop. There is a profound respect for nature and a belief that following the natural way of the universe will lead to a righteous and wise society. It reflects a mind fascinated by ancient things, very much invested in upholding or restoring certain traditions, but also one that believes change is necessary and that paradoxically what one must do to preserve the natural balance and certain traditions is change the world. However, there is an individualistic element to this in that I believe one should be free to pursue their goals and maximize their potential, to pursue their interests and curiosities unfettered by unnecessary rules and regulations, yet this is tempered by a profound spiritual belief that all people are equally valuable and thus one should never transgress certain moral bounds lest the universe itself strike you down for your hubris and cruelty. There is this current of thought that holds that these natural spiritual laws are all that matter in the end. I do not believe people are a tabula rasa, but rather that they are born with a purpose and duty inherent to their nature that is unchangeable. You do not get to choose what you are, but you can choose what you do with it. You are given a set of tools, now make with them what you desire. We are a composite of our inherent traits and our experiences, each of them playing off each other eternally. Some things are fated, but not everything is. There are after all multiple ways to reach the same goal. One consistent belief here is that nature doesn't need improvement, but human society sure as hell does and that knowledge should always be used toward these ends. That it should be used to create a more just and equitable society.

Was Izzet half a year ago when I discovered your channel, still Izzet now! The only change is that Red and Blue have become more balanced (28.7% and 28.2% respectively); rather surprising since I thought my answers were skewing more towards Red this time. But rather than exploring why these two fit me so much (since I already know why), I'd like to explore how my next biggest colour reinforces Red/Blue as my primary ones. Green (my favourite colour outside of Magic's context) stands closest to Red/Blue at 20.6%. It grew a lot between then and now, because I had to do a lot of reflection on what Magic's take on Green means to me. The predetermination of one's role and entire being at birth, and adherence and deference to tradition, are things I vehemently reject as a person. But after these 6 months, I ultimately realized that I can't shake my love for Green's positive aspects that resonate with me: its fostering of community, interdependence without strict hierarchies, the beauty of unfettered growth, and inherent belief in the value of life. And on top of that, I've come to understand that loving Green doesn't mean accepting its negative aspects that I stand against; I'm free to take only that which I want from it to better my understanding of myself and pursue my ideals of what I want to be. All this to say, the way I've chosen to love Green proves why I cannot be a Green-dominant person; I can't just accept all of what it is without changing it. And I'd say I came to terms with it in a very Red/Blue way -- Following my heart to value it anyway, while seeking to understand and improve upon it for my own purposes.

My faith, my "god" literally died in the meat grinder between the "eat-work-sleep-repeat" survival mode and a more logical, scientific outlook on life. As a child, it was so easy and pleasant to hide from the many demons of reality in at least some semblance of spirituality. now there's nowhere to hide... Red philosophies are something I desire but struggle with. It was at 12% in the test. Blue is overpowering it over trifold at 38.3%. Green being the second colour at 20.3% really doesn't surprise me. Simic has always been my "safe, comfortable and easy" colour combo. White and Black are in the middle at 15.4% and 14% respectively. Looking back, Blue has always been there. Most of my favourite cards happen to be Blue. My favourite Guilds are Izzet, Dimir and Simic. It's interesting that when I got into magic when the Return to Ravnica block had just completed, I naturally gravitated towards Izzet. A decade and a lot of hard times, soul searching and getting to know myself later, the biggest realisations I have had is that I have a very unhealthy imbalance between thinking and feeling. Being overly logical, rational and perfectionistic while ignoring feelings, expression, spontaneity and passion is not the way to go. The fact that Izzet represents the balance between feeling and thinking is just perfect.

Now that I took the quiz today I was found to still be mono-blue but leaning more towards Jeskai. I found this quite... unique to say. The last couple of months have been kinda rough and life has been challenging my beliefs. I was raised to be understanding of others and to follow the laws even if they constrict the lives of others. Recently though I have found that my calling has been to work with animals so I have been doing small but impactful things such as recycling more than trashing items, yet I didn't fall under green but instead red. I also have been enjoying a bit of spice to my food which I think is an aspect of red. I took this test a couple years ago and got Naya. I think I am Bant but when trying to figure myself out Naya was always in consideration and still a close second. I don't plan on taking it again though cause since now that I have an idea of what I am that might influence my answers even if unintentional. Edit: Looking back my exact result blue was only behind red by 2.4% Edit 2: I decided to retake the test and my results are almost exactly the same from TWO YEARS ago. The only change that was bigger than 1% was that I took 2% from Black and added it to Green. Was honestly expecting Jeskai lol

I fully agree, everyone is different. Even if you don't think you are. Some are more than others. The important thing is to be calm, rational, have a discussion with one another and most importantly actually listen. So often people hear, but don't listen. When you do listen to others you find out what may have seemed illogical, may actually be perfectly logical from a different perspective. In most cases, not all. But that's what's so great here. Everybody here seems to do that. It's nice.

I got Dimir some time ago when you posted this test the first time. In Dimir fashion, I would then make all my coworkers and friends take the test (most were Naya, which for me has become the “basic” color combo) to gain deeper insight for my own benefit. I doubt much change has occurred between now and then, however I feel since being enlightened by that result, I’ve only leaned into those colors more, so thanks for that. I’m also the only one out of 11 test takers to get over 20% black. Receiving 28%, which is more than double everyone else. I don’t know what that really says about me, but I’m into it 😈

Years ago I took this and got Bant. I was always into spirituality, logic, and making sense of the physical world. At some point, 4ish years ago, I hard dropped White and went with a Quandrix way of living. Feeling like a failure, turned to Rakdos for a short time, seeing if maybe I was wrong. Despite it seeming like I was succeeding, internally, I felt more and more miserable. So now, I'm trying to live more true to myself and I'm not surprised Bant popped back up. What does amaze me is how more equalized the colors were before. Before, Red and Black were very, VERY low. Now, they're a lot more balanced, which I think is a good sign of growth and maturity. So, I have that balance in life to fall back on as I live in the direction I believe is true. 24% Blue | 23% Green | 19% White | 19% Red | 14% Black. Back then, Black used to be closer to 12-15% and White was more closer to 25+%.

My prediction (typed before I take the test): I haven't taken the test before, but I predict Blue White Green, emphasis on the Blue, because I respect improving society and oneself as a function of that society- using a combination of our traditions and new ideas (the old AND the new, in a neverending dance) and coordinated societal effort to improve everything for EVERYONE, with less emphasis on individual flights of fancy and emotions, and less emphasis on prioritizing one's own position therein potentially at the expense of others. That's my understanding of the three at least. I'm not a huge MTG player so my knowledge of the shards is mostly coming from your videos and the ideas behind the shards (to me at least), rather than the lore of the shards within the series and the characters associated with it (although I do love your lore videos and some of the deep dives! There's just so much to know). Probably a little bit less Green, because when I know a new solution will get better results than the old tradition would, I will almost always support it superseding the old way of doing things. ________________ Actual Result: You are a Planeswalker of The Bant Shard. Bant is a combination of the White, Green, and Blue colors. Bant displays a calm and peaceful stability underlying a slow progression towards knowledge, wisdom, and fulfillment. Those of Bant colors are respectful and have an absence of urgency, and restlessness. They believe in building scaffolds rather than cages, and are patient in lifting others up towards a better future. White wants peace. White wants to create a world where there is no unnecessary suffering, a world where life is as good as it can be for each individual. The key to making this happen is teaching individuals the importance of taking actions which benefit the group as a whole, even if those actions might not benefit them personally. Green wants harmony. The other colors are all focused on how they'd change the world to make it better. Green is the one color that doesn't want to change the world, because green is convinced that the world already got everything right. The natural order is a thing of beauty and has all the answers to life's problems. The key is learning to sit back and recognize what is right in front of you. Blue wants perfection Blue believes that each and every one of us is born a blank slate with the potential to become anything. The entire point of life is figuring out what you could achieve with the right education, experience, and tools. Note that this is not a task with an end goal, but one that continues throughout your life. There will always be things you can do to improve, change, or adapt. The journey of life is one of constant discovery as you keep seeking to better yourself. | White: 22.3% | Blue: 29.8% | Black: 14.5% | Red: 14.1% | Green: 19.4% | _____ I guess I was right! I actually scored higher on White and Green than I thought, but I guess any more blue and I would've been fully Blue. This was fun!

I took the test a while back (The link they have on the page to your channel is how I found you in the first place) and got almost exactly the same results a year later (16.7%W|30.4%U|14.9%B|20.7%R|17.2%G). The results are similar to what I expected, with a strong connection to UR. Something that's always confused me however is that in-game, I love playing mono blue and I love playing mono red but I have never been able to enjoy playing UR decks, despite that being my strongest affinity. Percentages: | White: 19.8% | Blue: 23.8% | Black: 14.4% | Red: 25.0% | Green: 17.1% | My version of Izzet is definitely different from the typical mad scientist archetype. I like tech and learning about and understanding stuff, being inquisitive and somewhat scientifically-minded, but I'm also very emotional and empathetic as a person, and while somewhat spontaneous too, it doesn't really combine together in the standard Izzet way. I don't know what this says about me (Or how it relates to where I go on the color wheel) but I'm always more fascinated by the total results of this quiz rather then my personal results. Like: what does it say that out of every person that took this quiz, Blue is the most common colour that appears? Being in the top 3 most common results? (Possibly that people with a blue personality are more likely to take such a quiz honestly. But why Blue-Red and Blue-Black as the top instead of Blue-Green or Blue-White?) Likewise: What does it mean that Mono Green and Mono White have almost no results at all? Or that Mono Black is more common then Black-White and Black-Green? And how do those results occur in relation to which words are picked or rejected?

I took the quiz when I first found your channel almost a year ago: Temur. I took the quiz again: Temur with a focus on red. I took it again thinking it was skewed because many of my answers were in the middle: Temur with a near perfect balance of each of the three, each almost taking up a third of the pie. This might sound crazy, but I might be Temur. Although, I did the same thing when I found the colorpie subreddit: I got Naya the first and second time, but got Izzet when I avoided ambivert answers. What I think is interesting is that in every different result, Red is always present, and is accompanied by either Green or Blue with White showing up only once. What it could mean is that I may be Red centered with Green, Blue, or both accompanying Red at any time (Resulting in the combinations if Gruul, Izzet, and Temur), and the occasional dabbling in White. In every interaction, black is absent, but is there in the form of "the shadow", yet it does not hold that much influence or sway when it comes to the philosophy I live by. I'm exploring this further by taking the subreddit's trials, and I can definitely see Red in the emphasis on freedom and the individual.

I have used this test over the last year to help tackle my own mental health, and work on improving myself. I took the test monthly, recorded my results, and set goals for myself to help cut down on my toxic colors (Green & White) and really develop my colors (Blue Black Red). When I started out, I had a lot of issues that I was working through, but by learning to really take a step back and reflect on myself like I use to when I was a child, I have really recentered myself. Making sure that Blue wasn't strangling Red, and letting Black take a more leadership role in how I look out at things, while letting Red really retrain my heart and guide me in a way that best suits myself has really had outstanding results in my life, my friendships, and my health. It seems the more Red grows, the happier I get, however that is a difficult process with Blue's eye to the future

@steelmyr1485 I would beg to differ. Philosophy is a great subject to study in of itself for a variety of reasons, most if not all, for your own benefit. A word association test that gives you mostly accurate results for color distribution tells you a lot about yourself and where you can improve based on your own goals. When I started, I had a lot of Green & White in my color results, and in showed in my life as I was caring far too much for what others wanted and what others expected of me. This gave me the nudge to change how I was acting, choosing instead to focus on myself and what I felt, learning to actually listen to my own impulses and desires. I was the most happy when Red was at its highest, and it showed when I took the test that month. To contrast, I could have wasted good lord knows how many hours just trying to find a " " professional " " who isn't either a waste of my time, isn't only in it for money, actually has any care for their clients, and is actually effective (Spending hundreds if not thousands cycling through people trying to find this person), only to have this supposed person either scratch on their pad to drug me up or talk with me telling me things I already know (Once again spending hundreds if not thousands). Instead, I spent the last year working out, fasting, self-reflecting, tackling issues in my life, removing toxic people, setting and maintaining boundaries with the people in my life, focusing on myself and what I want, and living life on my terms. Given how much better my life is in just a single year, I would say people should use whatever tools work for them for their situation. Better to use a MTG Quiz than give up on yourself, but you clearly dont agree with that.

It's interesting, though, because when I discovered Abzan, I immediately thought, "these are my people." My personality is Bant, but my views towards society at large are Abzan without a doubt. I think the Black in Abzan represents my regretful acceptance that my personal ideals simply do not work in the real world - or at least need to be tempered severely by accepting the inescapable fallen nature of man.

According to the results, the closest 3-color combo to me is Esper. I respect Black's pragmatism, realism and need for results without being influenced by sentiment, and I identity strongly with White's want for structure, order and cooperation between parties. I don't see my self as much as part of those colors as much as I appreciate their assistance in accomplishing my (Blue) goals when they are at their best. Red, I struggle with. As a person, I feel myself as Jeskai sometimes, with Blue Primary, White secondary and Red as an intrusive element that fights for control over my decisions. I don't hate emotions and I downright think passion is essential for good results, but it also leaves me prone to bias and irrationality. Something I fight every day.

Don't know if this is me being a relative noob in magic both mechanically and in terms of understanding the ideologies/flavors of the colors; but I couldn't help but agree to some of the assessments and thoughts on those colors and the combination, while also having disagreements with some fundamental assumptions within them. Like take the assessment of green as a color deeply related to the natural world and so-called harmony. Indeed, I agree that there is a lot of wisdom to be found in nature, furthermore also agree with Murray Bookchin's assessment that we aught to return to the ways of the natural world's biosphere (what he called 1st Nature, in contrast to our settler colonial states that he dubbed as of 2nd Nature). However, as an anarchist, I want nothing more than to make the world a better place by creating the prototype of a better world within the current one. Not to mention that from little that I know about nature, it is anything but static; consider how evolution and natural history have shown evidence of great changes in nature. So I don't know if this is me disagreeing with this static aspect of green or if in fact, green isn't about being static at all, considering it's version of the boon cycle was a temporary effect and the fundamentally green deck, harden scales, is so inherently dynamic with it's ever growing and destroying creatures. And each of those other colors also have these sorts of disagreements that I find that I can't tell if I am misunderstanding those colors or if the unique pieces of information that I have come across have given me a unique way of interpreting and expressing them.

I got a pretty even split Red/Green which is unusual because i usually skew Green/White (though my white wasn't that far off, only 3 to 5% away from the dominate pairing) I unsurprisingly have very little black, which in retrospect makes sense, i do not have much interest in competition or ambition.

It told me Temur, with the following distribution: Blue 27% Red 22.4% Green 21.4% White 21.3% Black 8% I honestly cannot in good faith accept it doing a trio colour when green and white are so close to each other (0.1 difference) but the description fit well enough I think

I got Jeskai, which is definitely very true. I think though that its ultimately because of how it limits you to three, since green was relatively high and also definitely jives with me. But if I HAD to drop one of the four that wasnt black, green would be the one to go. And dropping red or blue feels so much wronger. So maybe it is Just Jeskai.

I managed to get temur, a pretty even blend with a slight leaning towards blue. I thought with my focus on morality I’d get some more white in there

| White: 29.0% | Blue: 20.7% | Black: 9.7% | Red: 18.6% | Green: 22.2% | Very fun quiz. I always wondered which colour I could fit because I always felt I had a little of everything except for black and the quiz showed just that. Even though it says I'm bant, red is still very close to blue and over all red, blue and green are pretty close

I ended up getting Selesnya, when I was expecting Boros. Nifty.

I’m boros, 25% white and 23% red with next highest being green at 18%, blue at 17.7% and black at 15% I’ve always cared for others and an emotional kind of person, so it didn’t came as a shock to me. Funny enough for blue and black to be next to each other since I’ve contemplated time and again that I wanted to become more self centered, if I was more selfish it’d make my life a lot easier and make me feel like I’d value myself more, since currently i don’t value my own life.

I'm an Izzet planeswalker which makes sense. I like to do some things in a very chaotic way and others very orderly... Interestingly, the black part has been growing lately, maybe to do with my growing self determination?

I got mono-blue, leaning towards Simic. I used to be very much in the Esper/Azorius/Dimir triad, though that was just from analysis before (both self-analysis and analysis from other people who know the color pie pretty well). Ironically, out of all my friends, I'm the least interested in technology, but I also like poking at how things work. | White: 17.4% | Blue: 33.9% | Black: 12.3% | Red: 14.5% | Green: 21.8% |
