What is life like in luminesca, and is luminesca really a Utopia? That is the question poser byt the comment of ezraz.6335! And there is a debate about it in the comment section! I Think that to understand luminesca, you must first understand green-White!

I am a luminesca! Though i do value the self-improvement of blue Black, and i belive that Black should be allowed to be the Lord of the dead, as in all things that are not alive! Everything dead really is just a resources to be exploited, or an obstacle to be overcome, for the Benefit of the Living, and sentient! (and by sentient i just mean capable of feeling pleasure and pain!)

I’m actually trying to better define my own Cleric I have recently begun playing, a CG Drow Cleric of Eilistraee. They are fully devout to their goddess, bringing joy and hope to people through songs, dance, and giving blessings to those on Hunts or working the forge. They are a Nomad, kissed by the goddess of Winter, and while they do not follow the Winter Maiden, they make use of this blessing to traverse the Eternal Winter of Icewind Dale, doing what others could not without being weighed down by hefty furs. This is a Peace Domain character who will fight if they must, but wishes to be a beacon of Moonlit Hope in the darkness.

White/Black can also represent the perspective of someone who’s stood in the shoes of both sides. In other words- Hey I know nobody’s perfect and I’m not gonna hide behind a wall of lies and ignore mine or anyone else’s flaws or problems. Someone who is genuinely honest but still flawed and is not afraid to use questionable methods to get the job done because I’m not gonna hide behind a veil of lies. Black/Green can also give a good perspective on life that yes ambition is good but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad thing to happy with what you have and/or work at a slower pace and appreciate the positive things around you while also accepting and coming to terms with the negative aspects understanding there cannot be one without the other. There’s always two sides to the same coin.

I am not wired for balance. I am a conduit for chaos. I am a storm channeler. I am the electricity, and I am the coils it arcs between. I am the eye of the tornado. i ride the lightning. My being is in a constant state of push and pull, each side trying to win out over the other, never succeeding. This conflict is the driving force that charges the dynamo of my soul. LIke the dance of a binary star, always in motion. I am a barely contained explosion. I am a cacophonous symphony. I am rabidly curious. If I'm not out of control then I'm not in control, and all I'm certain of is that I never am and nothing is and I wouldnt have it any other way. I'm a perfect clusterf*ck. A happy accident. Methodical madness. Restless iteration. I'm the task successfully failed. I'm a beautiful disaster. A living, breathing work of art that is never completed. I am Creation through Destruction. I am Destruction through Creation. I am Potential. I am Izzet. And I am limitless.💧🔥

I think 4 colors are cool but just really not worth it. I play 4 colors rn and im gonna be moving i to 5, when you play 4 colors ypur deck is defined by what it isnt not by what it is. I play UBRG so my deck is kinda just defined by its lack of white as opposed to the prescence of UBRG. I play Demon Tribal so i started mono black then added green , red, then blue. in the past, there was only 1 white demon, that's why i built 4 colors instead of 5 but now with streets of New Capena and the Orzov Vampire Demon it became worth it to move into 5 colors.

I had a dream where MtG introduced a new mechanic that allowed a card to be played for an enemy color cost. The dream focused on an Inverted (WG) Vampire. In terms of lore, I am fascinated by the idea of Vampires leaning into an Elf-like role (immortal, keepers of an ancient society, closely tied to how the world works). The colors and the fact they are vampires combine into a system that looks for people to join as history keepers and conservationists for the mortals in the community.

I feel like a set built around four color factions could potentially be feasible without bogging down the gameplay with intense mana fixing by utilizing hybrid mana. (mana fixing would still be necessary of course, just like it is in any set that is built and formatted around specific color combinations like ravnica, strixhaven, alara, and tarkir) Hybrid mana can solve the problem of needing to get all 4 colors of mana in your limited format to effectively play the faction and can open players up to a wider card base to use by allowing them to effectively use other faction cards as well for formats like drafting. Realistically, if many of the cards in this set utilize hybrid mana to earn their four color identity a player may realistically only need ample access to 2 or 3 colors of mana because they always have the option to just pay the "other" mana and can be utilized to give more focused and unique color identities to cards, what about a card that has is 1 red and 3 hybrid with each hybrid being able to be paid with red and designing the card mechanics to reflect how close to red it is specifically, arguably even more so than certain mono red cards that will accept just 1 red and x generic mana. Additionally I think hybrid mana would work well for theming in the lore of this set as well, with 4 color factions each defined by excluding a color they take all the colors they view as "compatible" and blend them, mixing them together and using them in place of each other to match their own blended identity, thus hybrid mana, which blends different forms of mana together, matches the theme quite well. And lastly, for a faction based set I think 4 color factions that use mechanics of opposing the specific color they lack works incredibly well because every other faction will have the 1 color they oppose, and thus they can potentially utilize color hate mechanics very effectively when the number of cards *not* hit by such effects are drastically smaller than in more traditional sets, so it just works really well in the theme of factions that explicitly oppose each other and can make for very fun gameplay by creating an enemy to focus down and building strategies that are antithetical to the color your chosen faction hates/opposes, thus making color hate a more useful and interesting mechanic.

With how interesting this plane-cluster is i couldn't help but wonder how it came to be, and i have a neat idea: it was shattered. For it was an ancient planeswalker, born far before the mending, who's name is lost to time, found his home plane in the path of many powerful eldrazi. so many were they that not even the power of a pre-mending planeswalker could stop them, that the nameless hero had to do something else, something desperate. An interesting habit of the eldrazi is that in their search for mana-rich planes they will ignore sources of mana that do not express all colours, as there is not likely to be any abundance of it where all five are not present. Learning of this, this ancient knew what he had to do, he split his home in five at the cost of his life. Turning the jewel that was his love into five orbiting fragments, with nothing but a manaless husk in the centre, an archive of his work so that a future planeswalker could find his work and heal his home.

I like to picture mono Black and it’s color pairings when driven to the side of good being those people who are seen as failures or bad examples. But despite all that they still do there damn hardest to fight the good fight even if it means using some questionable methods. In other words ‘I’m the one who has the balls to do what needs to be done to save others…WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING INSTEAD OF HIDING BEHIND A MASK OF LIES!’ I can see the color pairing of red/black or green/black being the best examples of- ‘You know…they make a good point…’

I think I hard disagree with a lot of this premise. The nephilim in my opinion are horrible examples of 4 colored creatures. Where Atraxa isn't perfect, but could easily work if tweaked a bit. 4-color spells need to be defined by the colors they are lacking. That is how you can so easily scrape something distinct from them. Atraxa lacks red because (if you're familiar with the lore of New Phyrexia this makes sense) Atraxa is a representation of the opposite of red magic. Which is everything else. Mechanically, a card that is every color except for red might be a defender, an enchantment (or something that synergizes with or interracts with enchantments), a way to gain life, a way to draw cards, and a way to gain various other forms of permanent advantage. You can do this same process for each other 4-color combination, and also, it doesn't end at mechanics. Atraxa represents order above all else, a tyrant, and she represents a lack of emotion or a control of impulse.

I've been inspired by your stuff, and I'm applying the color pie to a world I'm building up. I've struggled with figuring out more to my stories beyond a couple small snapshots or a few series of scenes. The process is coming along much better now. It opens me to creating parts of the world I hadn't considered before.

what is hard for me to understand with this combination is how it is applied to a person who is religious but hates structure and rules. if a person hates restricting itself and hates government or any kind of governing body, but has a religion that is centered around a deity about morals, then is being convinced about that deity from one’s personal experiences and being fervent in following it really still white-aligned? does a person become white-aligned once they follow a structure and want the well-being of others if they hate all rules and structure and only make others happy in the way they beleive is right and within reason on how much of themselves they sacrifice to make it happen? this is something i’ve struggled with for a long time.

Even when I use the Color Pie System to create a character, I do sometimes struggle with the micro decisions when roleplaying. Things like urgency, importance and how things match your characters moral compass and motivations are a part of the decision making. In Baldur's Gate 3 you are served with many options for getting your worm removed, and they of course vary in their methods and intentions. But naturally there is a sense of urgency, so how willing are you to ignore the optimal moral choices for the sake of surviving and finding a cure? Those decisions can be tough to make even without roleplaying. But is their a way to follow the color combination given too your character, to help you as a player take those micro decisions for your character?

To me, Gruul represents evolution. The growth of green and the instincts that survive from red results in more enduring creatures.

The way i learnt it was that no colour is inherently more moral than others. White to me represents rules and cameraderie, which are not necessarily good or bad things. There have been plenty of white villains in Magic's story that wish to impose their twisted order upon the planes or unite everything into one. Black on the other hand represents individuality. It is about sacrifice - of others, yes - but also self sacrifice. There is nothing inherently wrong about watching out for yourself, but it can be dangerous. Red's love of chaos can be useful when times call for a rebellion, but is out of place elsewhere. Blue can take it's desire for knowledge to the extreme. Green's villains often have radical anti-human viewpoints, desiring to wipe all artificiality from the world. Nature is as much about death as it is about life.

Laveyan came along at the right time and provided something very much needed. But part of his schtick was to outrage Christians by helping them fulfill their own fantasies about what Satanism is. As a result when other groups like Satanic Temple (TST)came along the COS engaged in the No True Scotsman Fallacy that they were THE true Satanists and it seems to be the favorite Gilmore/ Nadramia apologetic and can be seen in it's FAQ and Pretenders to the Throne.. And having built his brand on ideas from Ragnar Red Beard they became critical of other groups such as TST when it included compassion and empathy as Satanic values.
