Experience is worth double the time spent in education. First job i got in Recruitment at 18 i was earning the same as 24 year olds that went to Cambridge after my probation. Your first job is the hardest to get and you just need someone to take a chance on you for a fraction of the cost of a graduate. And by the time i was 24 i was a manager hiring 24year old graduates with no practical experience.
This is only true of jobs that don’t require a vast corpus of specialist knowledge. Working in recruitment you surely saw a multitude of jobs you yourself weren’t qualified for because you weren’t trained to do them. I don’t want my doctor learning on the job at 18 thanks.
