Couldn't agree more... I've got myself an RG 550 Genesis Collection - different series but also made in Japan. I was at the guitar store and I wanted to try it. I've felt in love instantly. It wasn't cheap, but it's so worth it! I've been playing for years and as soon as I could afford it, I bought it. Zero regrets!

Yes, yes and yes. The neck and frets on my RG5120M could teach gibson a thing or two. My S6570Q NLB isnt as nice. But still fantastic. Maybe AZ2404 in rose next. Or RG550 Purple neon

I want one so bad! There's been one hanging on the wall at the store I teach lessons at and I played for a while a few weeks ago. Probably the best electric guitar I've ever played.

I feel your struggle man, even worse when you have to look at it all the time😜 It's a magical feeling when you find that one special guitar that is everything you want in feel, sound and speck😍

I bought mine when I could not afford it as I was a student, survived the rest of the month on bread, cheese, water, instant noodles. No regrets, 22 years later and I'm so glad I did it, and the guitar still sounds and feels amazing. Second to marrying my wife, its one of the best decision I ever made. You won't regret it.

Just wanted to chime in to share my experience: I recently got a RG5320C-DFM and while it is understandable to put the Prestige series on such a high pedestal, I am afraid to say that the Prestige series has lost its "touch" of being completely flawless. I do have to note that any nitpicks that I have are very "insignificant" and does not affect the playability of the guitar whatsoever. After 4 years of only playing one guitar; my cheap Epiphone Les Paul, I decided I needed a superstrat to fit my playing style. I have determined over time that I needed the slimmest neck possible, which the Ibanez Prestige series still offer: the Super Wizard HP neck profiles. As I played it more, I had zero regrets in deciding I wanted a slim neck so "shredding" would be easier. My hands felt at home and I didn't feel that I had to fight my Ibanez compared to my Les Paul. Playing was effortless and like you said, I wanted to play more because it felt really good. My few nitpicks include the following: the included prestige case had a broken lock staple right out of the box - the staple is the part of the lock where you can insert your own padlock to secure your case. Mine came in broken brand new and unfortunately, there was no way to replace it unless I wait for a month for a replacement case. For a 2000usd guitar you should at least expect to have a functioning locking hardcase. the neck had a few bits of what seems to be wooden particles - when I tested the guitar in store, the neck seemed to be extremely smooth. I didn't notice any rough areas even after playing for an hour. However, I did notice that my thumb would feel very small particles especially in the upper registers despite not seeing any when I looked at the area up close. This wasn't that big of an issue because I think that my thumb would sand down these areas after a couple of years. there was a bit of paint bleed on the headstock - on the tip of the headstock, you can notice that some of the finish has leaked onto the binding (around 0.5mm) if you look close enough. the tremolo clicked - this by far was the most concerning, significantly pushing down or pulling up on the trem will cause a clicking sound which seems to be the loudest when listened from the tremolo posts. I was not able to determine what causes this sound but I plan on letting my luthier solve it once I get it set up. decreased upper fret access due to the RG shape - I had to slightly readjust my thumb position because the lower horn bumps into my wrists since I play in a high classical position. This isn't an issue on the Prestige series, but more of a small weakness of the RG's design as a whole. hand fatigue when playing chords - you may have heard stories of the thin Ibanez necks causing cramps for players. I can say that it is true. I love the 17-19mm Super Wizard HP neck for melodic and shred work but my hand fatigues easily when playing chords because my thumb is too close to my other fingers. I would suggest staying away from the extreme end of Ibanez neck's and suggest you to get an AZ if you want to have more ability to play chords. Other than those, I am very happy with my purchase. the last two "flaws" were things that I expected and willing to accept a long time ago ever since I decided to do research on my upcoming Ibanez RG. Any videos you see on the 5320C-DFM doesn't do justice for its gorgeous finish. It transitions from a very dark gray from the side, to a midnight blue, all the way to a dark teal while having sparkles throughout. Happy for you getting a great prestige btw! the AHM652-NGB was actually the initial prestige that I wanted to buy but I preferred the looks of the 5320C-DFM.

I apriciate you taking your time and giving me your honest experience! Thank you. Sounds like you've been very unlucky or maybee I was very lucky. The guitar I got was absoloutly flawless, I have yet to find anything to pick on, maybee exept the thumb adjustment due to the RG design as you mentioned. I recognize the chord pllaying fatigue, but to be honest I don't think that's what theese guitars are made for, hehe. I wouldn't trade mine in for anything, I still adore it and haven't picked up any other guitar yet. I'm a month in now.

I had a very similar experience. I had never owned a guitar that cost more than $6-700. I saved and purchased an Ibanez RG5120M. FUCKING GAME CHANGER. I instantly felt like I played better but it might be similar to you in that I just wanted to play more so I naturally improved from playing more. Since I have also purchased an Ibanez RG550 Genesis and it is great as well. Now I am saving up to buy an ESP Alexi Laiho Signature.

I've owned my RG652ahmfx [hardtail version] since 2017 and for the money there's nothing else that comes close. The only thing to consider is whether or not the flat thin wizard neck is something you are comfortable with. if it is then it's the guitar to own. I don't think anything else in the Ibanez line up is as good in value terms. J-Specs are marginally better - but not worth the extra money. RG550 and Premium range instruments I find a little too heavy and lacking the refinement of the RG652.

A quality instrument doesn’t fight you with its flaws or force you to compensate using suboptimal technique. When folks say “it plays itself”, they mean it does what they ask it to do and sometimes allows them to do things they find difficult on other platforms. If not a prestige, something like a CHARVEL dk24 or a Schecter SLS Elite…an ESP E-II. Or just write Prestige on the headstock of your trusty Squier with a sharpie. As long as ‘Prestige’ is in cursive, the magic works.

from my experience, yes u need one, yes its worth it, assuming your already good (intermediate to advanced) yes it will make you a slightly better guitarist. Instantly. On the spot. You will become a (slightly) better player just like that. But with practice you will improve at a faster rate as well. So over time it adds up and will make you a significantly better guitarist compared to a cheap guitar, you will just level up faster and have a better more fun time doing it, and sound better doing it too. I can say the same about Fender American, and Gibson USA guitars as well. Those people who say its all in the hands, Mr.bla bla will sound like Mr.bla bla even if you give him a cheap guitar etc. They dont know what they are talking about. Why do you think all great guitar heros have awesome guitars that are meticulously crafted and set up? because they are all pretentious and in truth it makes no difference? A conspiracy from guitar makers? no, its cuz a great guitar will make you a better guitarist. That simple.

Yes. Although, I do believe there Are a few points to be made wether or not you need to pay for high end pick ups if you’re not going to play gigs or record anything. I say no.

@@Fishingandbrew i honestly don't know that much about this specific aspect of it. Not enough to give a definitive answer. But good pickups will drive you to play a certain way, good pickups tend to translate all the nuances of sound according to how hard or soft you pick, how you pick and where, each in its own unique way. In general i think It will inspire or drive you play in a certain way you wouldn't otherwise. compare that to cheap pickups that sound the same and just are just kind of flat and lifeless nomatter what you do. This will help in your phrasing and help you to sound like yourself. I find the stock dimarzio pickups in prestige ibanezs more than good enough. The air norton/tone zone combo on ibanez prestige is tonal perfection to my ears. And the new (2005sh-2023) fender noiseless in stock American strats are absolutely great too. But I confess I jerry rigged a system on my strat so as to just quickly swap whole pickguards (usually when changing strings i plop in a different pickguard just to keep things fresh), I got a yjm pickguard, a stock one, and one with hsh for that classic iron maidenish sound. no soldiering required. Just swap pickguard and insert wires into a connector with screws that goes to output jack. I guess cuz we love to customize our strats. Gibson has such great stock pickups too. My LP came with classic and classic + pickups. Sounds great, never swapped them. In summary I find that a decent quality mainstream pickup is all you need (Duncan/dimarzio/emg/fender/gibson/lace). Crazy expensive boutique pickups are just a waste of money better spent on a nice amp or good amp modeler, or use the money to catch a live rock show for inspiration.

@@mohammadal-yatama122 I might have expressed myself a little wrong. My point is, there are many videos out there where people do blind tests, and it turns out most people can't really tell the difference between the different pickup price ranges on a home practise type amp.

@@Fishingandbrew congratulations on the guitar man. It looks and plays amazing. But the difference shouldn't be so big in terms of how it feels and plays. The build quality yes. If a guitar can be setup well which most over 400 USD guitars can these days, play well.
@Fishingandbrew
@Fishingandbrew 6 месяцев назад
@@robertmazurowski5974 The difference was that huge, but if that’s due to the New guitar or the condition/playability of the old one is hard to say.

@PKViking I bought mine in 2015 and it arrived with serious factory problems in the frets and nut locks. Worst one was in the nut locks, guitar luthier got to put a shim on the nut no other way to make it works. Try to returned was another nightmare.

I couldn't disagree more. I have 6 Ibanez guitars, only one of them Indonesian, and that's the only one that isn't absolutely perfect. Both Genesis Collection ones, and my 3 Prestiges are flawless. Love 'em to death.
