Unless the stash capacity becomes bottomless at a certain point Fallout 1st becomes a very useful tool for scrap stash and munitions.

I've had FO1st for years at this point, but I'm a builder and a hoarder. Meanwhile, a friend of mine has never even accepted a free trial, but doesn't build and has the self control to loot only what he can use. I end up spending less time managing my inventory, but not by much. In reality, the amount of junk you need to keep on hand adds up to less than 50lbs.

I've thought about playing as a nomad and using White Springs as home base. Totally viable but I like building different camps way too much. :)

@martyk656 I'm going to make 2 camps. One public and one private. Private will be my permanent home. My getaway that if I choose to I can seek refuge in. The public camp will be a military base with vendors and the like. The Private will be a log cabin.

I think at least 1 month of 1st is mandatory. Spend like the first month filling your stash as much as humanely possible with junk and ammo, then when you have no room to put anything and it becomes really hard to play the game, you suscribe for one month and buld the stashboxe and ammo box in your camp, offload everything in there then you loot nonstop for a month making sure to stockpile 1000+ of each ressources and ammo types... Then you should be able to "live off " your stockpile for quite a few years, getting free trials when the come along and using this opportunity to refill said stashs. Junk and ammo simply weights way too much and nobody wants 70% of their stash box to be filled with junk and ammmo.

Ive had FO1st for over a year ago and finding it very useful especially the Scrapbox and Ammo container. It depends how you play the game if you are a builder for instance or just like collecting materials then FO1st is for you.

It's nearly essential for me and my play style. It costs me $90 a year (I buy the $100 gift cards from Newegg or Amazon for $90) and buy a 1 year subscription when I'm planning on playing a lot. Even if I don't play constantly for the full year, the Atoms pile up. Less than 8 bucks a month. Scrapbox & Tent, while not technically essential, makes the game much less tedious for me. The private world makes sharing between my characters much easier than using a second account. Private world is ultimately why I have Fallout 1st.

I honestly hate having to manage my storage, especially when u have a shop and u want to sell a bunch of things but your stash box is just too full of junk, if u play fallout 76 frequently it’s honestly worth it, but for players who don’t return to the game for months at a time then I wouldn’t suggest getting it other wise you’re paying for something you’re not using
@jasohavents

It's changed in usefulness as time goes on. If you just play to do the challenges and events once or twice a week or with friends... Probably not. If you do lots of building... Definately. The Tent other than being a useful minibase, is also great if you slap it down in an area where theres no free fast travel points. This has gotten noticeably better since steel dawn, theres WAY more free fast travel points. In fact a new one called the Rose Room opened up recently. Don't also forget teammate free fast travel.

I feel $13 for at least the atoms is good since it's like a little bit of a discount, so adding that and the free stuff is good. though i recommend a month for when you are interested in the stuff they offer

Definitely not Pay to Win. It definitely has its conveniences. Just the Scrap Box and Ammo Storage make it amazing. But if you aren’t a builder, you can survive just fine without it by not picking up junk or ammo you don’t need. As a builder, I find it infinitely useful. I have 8 camps, which I’m always changing. I also have a haunted maze, which spans 5 shelters, and I change it up from time to time, especially once new items I can use in it are available.
@grimkitten8254
@grimkitten8254 2 месяца назад
easiest answer, Tent is nice but not that necessary since camp slot can be moved around easily enough for under 50 caps which wont be a problem when actively playing or even just getting daily caps from vendor each day which is easy enough by selling purified water, glowing blood, gulper slurry (remember to cook for xp), and even just grenades if not using them since the game gives them so much. also same with Easy extra ammo dump mainly for passively storing them for ammo points converter eventual use (ammo points dont weigh so use that to store unwanted ammo and for buying whatever type you want, also Railway spikes are easy to craft ton with steel for easy ammo). Best active benefit is max 25% score board boost for season pass claimed eventually progressing it. and ofc the monthly Atoms but its pretty easy to get plenty free too with challenges. also its good to use score boosters only when weekly challenges start so that way you get max benefit without wasting them on dailie's smaller amount. Other than that best non active benefit is trying to hoard as much scrap of all types into scrap box since they will stay in the scrap box and available to use in crafting even after FO1st.

Unless you don’t like building and lots of ammo, then it’s not convenient but if you’re a builder and a vendor, yes you really need this because I got so much scrap supply it’s unreal and if I put that in my regular box now I would never be able to store anything else For ammo I use a chainsaw so I just collect up on my ammo up round and everything from ultracite ammo to regular ammo for missiles to nukes
@AP-id6rk
@AP-id6rk 19 дней назад
The game is suppose to be built on a post nuclear world with the idea that you would not be able to carry more or stash more than is real. FO1st breaks this rule thus making the experience easy. Not what a real nuclear world will be.

I hate when people say it's "pay to win". Winning implies that there is competition. There is basically no pvp in fallout 76. It's pay for convenience in what is basically just a co-op experience. Whether fallout 1st is essential is up to you. It is essential for me. But some of my friends play without it.
@thegingergrasshopper3908

Ive been saying since 2months after launch that you dont have to have fallout first to beat the quests and essentially beat the game, but it is a must if u want to be successful in the game.
@justanother240
@justanother240 2 месяца назад
Define success. I managed to accumulate over half a million caps (I got access to 3 accounts - 15 characters, all max/nearly maxed out). I even got a bunch of god rolls I probably should not have because I got nowhere to put my caps. And yes, this includes weird stuff like Unyielding PA, jetpack helmets/arms, jetpack excavator... etc. All without FO 1st. In fact, I've gone the opposite direction by stop using all weight reduction perks, just to enjoy the survival aspect of the game a bit more.
@thegingergrasshopper3908

@thegingergrasshopper3908
@thegingergrasshopper3908 2 месяца назад
@justanother240 Now what I've done in the past is pay for fallout first for one month, do nothing but grind out mats for that month and then I have mats for the vast majority of the year without paying. U can always take scrap outta the scrap box when you don't have fallout first, ya just can't add to it.
@justanother240
@justanother240 2 месяца назад
@thegingergrasshopper3908 I already had the majority of my gear and items before gaining access to the additional accounts. All you need to do is sell 3 star legendaries to other players for caps at Whitespring Station and buy god roll items from other players for 20-40k and sometimes throw in some bobbleheads or magazines. Storing junk and ammo is the worst reason to pay for FO 1st anyway. If you need to craft ammo, your damage is too low, and it's a build/gear issue. If you have nowhere to put your junk, it's because you hoard in a game where you can't take 10 steps without finding something "useful." The real reason for FO 1st is to gain access to 1st exclusive items and free atoms; and as cherry on top, get private worlds for farming and completing challenges. Everything else is a "learn to play" issue.
@Dmaster2k
@Dmaster2k 2 месяца назад
Honestly, buy the ammo converter from the atom shop. Recycle all the unused ammo (Or craft tons of railway spikes) and convert them to whatever ammo you need with only a few exceptions. I don't think you can get plasma cores. Fusion cores are easy as hell to get, just cap a power plant for a short bit and collect full cores.
@justanother240
@justanother240 2 месяца назад
In every Fallout game I played, I always end up increasing difficulty, which reduces carrying weight significantly. I've done the same with FO76. I no longer run weight reduction perks or cheese the game by abusing VATS/Bloodied builds. Paying for FO 1st actually makes the game less fun for me at this point. The game is already way too easy.
@peterclarke7240
@peterclarke7240 2 месяца назад
Yeah... So, cynical little rant here, just so you know... Just remember the new Scoreboard was designed by Bethesda's Head of Monetisation, and we've already lost the ability to grind for more atoms from the scoreboard until next season. Also, the "infinite" items on page 150 are dependent on you buying ALL of the items on the scoreboard if you don't have FO1st, meaning you have less tickets to spend, and have to grind three stages to afford one item. I suspect, therefore, that this is just the start, and that FO1st is going to become more and more necessary as time goes on. I think it's important to note that the big studios seem to be becoming aware that large numbers of players is a drain on their servers and therefore their pockets. They'd rather push all the non-subscribed people out and just focus on the Whales and "recurrent user spending."
@SequentialGamerFallout
@SequentialGamerFallout 2 месяца назад
Yeah, I agree that we're seeing some moves to "monetize" the scoreboard, it seems that there's some pushing of the boundaries. I'm sure that different things will be tried, which is why I said what I said about keeping the "convenient but not essential" mindset when making changes to the game. It can very easily go wrong if they lose the goodwill of the playerbase.
@berns3337

I find it's easier to maintain without FO1st if you've never had a scrap box. I use FO1st, I'm a hoarder, but a friend of mine has never had it, nor taken the free trial, so he's never had a scrap box. He can quickly bulk junk to sell to a vendor, where when I let my FO1st lapse, I have to be careful not to pull crap from my scrapbox that I don't want to or need to.
