I’m running 3 Rotel RMB 1095 amps rated at 200WPC with all channels driven. I would submit this is more than enough power for a 13x17x9 room. That said, I plan to move to a 16 channel amp rated at 200 WPC to reduce the number of things that are racked and stacked. I won’t need all 16 channels but will bridge the LCR channels which will benefit from additional power. The side, back and height channels likely won’t take advantage of any extra power.
I care not to mention right now, I'm slummin' it with an Onkyo AVR in my living room setup 🤣. I'm gathering great ideas from everyone for once I get into my "dream" home with a dedicated HT room, Lord willing.
It's a good rule of thumb. You should have a higher rating amp than your speakers it will cut down on distortion. One thing that did not get touched on is what is the sensitivity of your speakers you are using.
