I often get asked if we should paint everything from the reference photographs. My simple answer is 'we don't have to'.
Many times we find that the reference photographs contain a mix of inspiring and non-inspiring elements. I would suggest picking up inspiring elements from the reference as the key elements and then adding supporting elements, if required, from imagination. Here is a way I practice selectively picking elements from the reference photographs and creating an art work. I feel that this approach helps us detaching from unwanted to details from the reference and to loosen up our approach, as it gives us the freedom of adding elements from our imagination.
Materials used:
Paper: Cold Pressed Watercolour Paper, 100% cotton. I have used Chitrapat brand from India
Colours: Naples Yellow, Burnt Sienna, Payne’s Grey, Orange, White, Scarlet Red, Cerulean Blue, Olive Green, Violet from Camel Artist Watercolours.
Cobalt Green from Aquatone Watercolours
Pen: Sailor Fude nib pen with Carbon black ink. You can use a graphite pencil or any waterproof ink pen instead.

WATERCOLOUR VIDEOS FOR BEGINNERS AND INTERMEDIATE LEVELS!!!
I strongly believe that there is a child in each of us, who would love playing with colours.
I am a self taught watercolor artist , teaching watercolour painting to watercolour aspirants. I prefer preparing tutorial videos showing the process of simplification for photographs and painting from imagination so that we end up doing representation the subject in my own way.
As I learnt lot from RU-vid, its my target to share my knowledge back on youtube by creating watercolors step by step, to encourage, inspire and guide viewers interested in learning watercolour.
