I agree Turek's answer was spot on. He separates attraction which is not a choice from action which is always a choice. The one thing that I hoped he could have touched on if there were more time allowed is how even lust (unfettered desire) is not the same as attraction. Say for example I am attracted to wealth. That attraction in and of itself is not a sin, we know, because there are plenty of wealthy people in the Bible whom God blessed with abundance. But if I start to crave wealth to the point where I will sin in my heart (envy/coveting) or sin with my hand (stealing), then that attraction has gone too far. . There's a sharp distinction between natural attraction that produces righteous desires and evil desires that over the long-run lead to evil acts. This is why Jesus says that if a man looks at a woman with lust, he has committed adultery in his heart. Lust is the sin of adultery in the mind; fornication by or with a married person is the sin of adultery in the body. One sin (adultery) manifests itself in two different ways. But I can look at a woman and think, "Wow, she is really a beautiful human being physically; praise God for his gift of physical beauty!" and there is no sin. My nature attraction to women is not sinful; rather, it is God-pleasing in that it led me to my spouse of 22 years, which according to his plan has formed a marriage that has produced 3 God-fearing children.

i don't think that's quite right. it didn't specifically condemn either. the old testament had a prohibition on a man doing it with a male in the same way he does it with a woman. i imagine "male" would have included minors, adolescents and adults. there is also an obscure word in the new testament whose meaning is unclear, but given what we know about the culture, what was common was pederasty and use of male prostitoots, but neither of these were exactly the same as pedofilia or homosecsuality. the trouble here is that you're trying to impose modern concepts on texts written in cultures from thousands of years ago, which doesn't work.

God said to love one another. But not to have sex with your own gender, with family, with animals, with dead people, with fish or insects. We can not help our feelings. That doesn't mean you will kill your boyfriend because you found him in bed with a man. Or force someone to have sex because you feel like it. Also same sex is not found in the animal kingdom. You can not find a documentary about it. It just doesn't exist. Look it up.

Actually, the Bible does not say anything like what this guy claims. While it contains opposition to specific behaviours, there's not broad unequivocal opposition to all sameseks behaviour. A few isolated statements have been blown out of proportion into an insidious kind of theology that pushes people away from God, not towards him. On the other contrary, Jesus says all God's commands are based on the command to honour God and do good to one another. Turek's views in this video misrepresent God and harm people (as you point out), so promoting them as he does is blatant immorality.

Define what love mean. I say that love does not necessarily involve sex. What I see is a culture so engrained with the fulfillment of our sexual desires that we can't even grasp the concept of chastity without feeling it as a wrong imposition. Furthermore, there are so many tendencies that may also be biologically influenced but do not necessarily translate into behaviors as we are able of acting opposed to our natural desires (is a pedophile, for exemple, guilty of their attraction or are they guilty for their action?) . Finally, if God says something is sinful and wrong, who am I to judge it on a moral perspective if I have no objective point of reference (as I have just claimed God is unjust in creating me in a certain way)? I would also add that God does not tempt neither can be tempted, but is our sinful nature which leads to temptation: our sinful desires are not rooted by God in us.

When there is an abundance of food, space, shelter, and other necessities behaviors considered normal and even necessary for the healthy continuation of the species begin to degrade. Rates of behavioral sink are higher in excessively abundant countries vs poorer ones as well as the collapse of historical nations and the abundance of this kind of behavior amongst the ultra wealthy throughout history. If a relationship is doing nothing to hurt anyone and is consensual, mutually respectful, faithful, caring, etc., then there is nothing wrong with it. Why it's frowned upon and considered sinful: Early in its history, the church developed the idea that secs is specifically only for making babies. Two men/women can't make a baby so this makes it wrong, but it's just as wrong as say husband and wife having oral secs. The protestant branch of the church discarded this idea - since after all it's not in the Bible. But a mistranslation in the Bible led them to think that same-secs acts were inherently wrong. So they replaced the traditional view with the modern view presented in this video. So Catholics think it's wrong because it's non-reproductive, and protestants think it's wrong because of a mistranslation in the Bible.

Actually u are wrong, having same sex attractions is not a sin, acting it out is, having attraction towards a man as another man is not sin its temptation, when u have lustful thoughts or have sex with the man is when it becomes sin. Fix ur logic please. I have talked to many Christians struggling with same sex attraction, as said in 1st Corinthians 6:9-11 men who practice homosexuality (keyword practice). U are not born gay and god did not make u that way. Having same sex attractions is a result of the fallen creation. Same sex attraction can develop over time through experiences. God says in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 that there were homosexuals but he sanctified and glorified them by the blood of Jesus Christ. You can live with same sex attractions as a Christian if u don’t act them out and lust, the goal if ur homosexual and want god to help u should not be heterosexuality but holy sexuality.

I agree with you that the temptation is not sin but unless you claim the promise of deliverance through prayer, once you are aware of the temptation and continue to think upon the temptation, then it becomes sin and needs to be repented of.

Thinking it is not the sin, pondering the act is the sin. The Bible says that if a man looks on a woman to lust after her it is sin. The key word is "to". It is natural for us to have our desires but acting on them is the issue. If you allow yourself to imagine sex with someone you look upon that you aren't married to that is the sin. Imagining the act and enjoying the thoughts of that act is what Jesus was talking about being sin. It's like when you're angry you just wanna kill someone sometimes, it's a normal human emotion, it becomes sin when you start to contemplate how to do it and how you'll enjoy it and all the details of it. Desires are normal but acting them out, either in real life or in our minds is the difference in it being sin or not. What helps me is when I start thinking about things like that I immediately start thinking of the consequences of it all, I mean long term brother, and it usually stops me dead in my tracks.

Lust is a sin. The Bible is clear. But are desire and lust the same thing? If so, why do we have two different words? . Here's another thing to consider: The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus was led into the wilderness for 40 days where "he was tempted by Satan." What does it mean to be "tempted?" Is temptation = sin? Can't be true, otherwise Jesus could not be the sinless Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. . It may seem like arguing semantics, but in this case the precise meaning of words is important. Clearly, thoughts can present themselves to us, but there is something else that also must happen for a thought to turn into a sin. . I'll take a topic less volatile than sex as an example. Let's pretend I am in a classroom taking an exam. The teacher steps out of the room for a moment, and several students start copying each other's answers. A thought enters my mind, "I could cheat and ace this test." But I don't act on it. Did I cheat (sin)? No. I was presented with a choice and made the moral decision swiftly and got back to work. The thought held no power over me. . But let's take it a step further....what if I didn't cheat at first, but the teacher stays out of the room for a long time, and as I sit there working on my test alone while others continue to cheat, I find myself distracted. The thought keeps burning in my brain, "I could just cheat, I could just cheat, it would be so easy, I could do it just like everyone else." Each time the thought crosses my mind, I stop, think about it, chew on my pencil for a moment, weight the risk of whether or not the teacher would come back in the room while I'm copying answers. But again, I do not cheat. I go back and continue to work on my own. . I get the results back with a C+, and part of the reason for the score is that I didn't have time to answer the last 3 questions. I was distracted during the test by my desire to cheat. I was harmed by the thought that I failed to shut out of my mind, because somewhere along the line I chose to give that thought dominion over my actions. Instead of concentrating on my knowledge of the subject, I wasted time pondering the ease and desire of cheating. Pondering over the desire....seeing pictures in my mind "how could I do this and not get caught?" "I deserve to get a good score and everyone else is doing it." This then is the different, I believe. The thought itself is not the sin: letting the thought gain power over your mind is the sin. When you start weighing the pros and cons of committing a sin to decide whether or not you will do the action, that is a sin! If you reject the thought outright, that is not a sin. . How similar that is to lust! If a thought enters my mind and I reject it, there is no sin. But if it enters my mind again and again and instead of rejecting it I starting thinking of ways to excuse my behavior and indulge and/or plotting ways to do the sinful act and not get caught....now I've crossed over into sin, even if I don't end up doing the act. Or if you want a concrete example try this: I as a married man see a beautiful woman who is not my wife and think "that is a beautiful women." No sin. God creates beauty and it is good. But if I start finding excuse to keep staring at her body and fantasizing how hot she would look in a string bikini....now I'm into lust/sin.
