00:45 I was impressed by how he mentioned an Iranian poet and I am very happy and pleased because people still appreciate great Iranian poets all over the world. Thank you much for the video.
Having lived with Russians for 20+ years, I think there was quite a bit of 'Tounge in cheek' and humour in many of these answers. No matter what the Russian government is doing now, Russian people have a great sense of humour and are very proud of their heritage.
@@rulerofroombas1443 A stupid comment! Russians have a great culture and a long history. And they have every right to be proud of it. For many Russians around me, however, this often turns into nationalism these days. That is a pity, because they discredit themselves with it. You can be proud of your country and still not have to stand behind everything its leadership does.
А меня повергло в шок, я видимо всегда обитал в совсем других кругах, где считают себя красивыми единицы. Да и я правда считаю, что красивых людей в мире очень мало. Да и те обычно этого не понимают
@@BARELD050 Russian women are pretty good looking on average, especially in bigger and richer cities (different way of life is visible much more than you might think ), but I don't know a lot of them who are so self confident. Really beautiful ones usually don't understand their beauty
Большинство из них, особенно тех кто явно выглядит средне но дали себе "10" были с сарказмом, self-deprecating, absurd humour. Немного кто ответил всерьёз, и это были в основном те кто реально отлично выглядели, но дали себе "9"
@@SnoopyDoofie Do Americans support Biden and Zelensky's war? As soon as Western countries stop supplying weapons, the war for Ukraine will end and peace will come.
@@castorchua I first thought this survey was done purposely. Perhaps. There could be a correlation between self-image, overconfidence and lack of empathy. Qualities that are common in some rulers.
I like their answers and smiles and expressions. I don't think many Americans would feel comfortable with this question but we know many think they are. We see our looks drop, fade if we're lucky to grow old with all the problems. It's true that it takes a lifetime for many to see and appreciate their real beauty which truly is goodness of one's soul and heart and to gift the world with your beauty from within. For many, the saying isn't a cliché but becomes reality when we finally get to know ourselves first which takes time and comes in different time for each of us. Be a good person and people will see your beauty even though your outside window will eventually shatter. Best wishes to all!
And Do Americans feel comfortable their government killed 200 K civilians in Iraq war just General Electrics to become a monopoly in Iraq , just for profits ?
How nice to see so much self-appreciation! This has got to be a cultural traits. In my country, Sweden, i am sure people would rate themself much lower, because modesty and not coming through as boastful, bragging, cocky etc is so engrained in our culture. I think the people interviewed here are happier because of their self-esteem
@@lesleystewart5882 And how you spot the difference? If you dont consider yourself as beautiful, nobody will to. That is just the healthy way to look at yourself. We all born like that and we all beautiful
I think in Russia admiting any faults considered being a looser. Even Putin considers himself 10 out of 10 Have you seen his photoshoot barechest on top of the bear?
Great video. I saw a lot of really beautiful people in it. It's so nice to see when people are happy with themselves and their looks. Even if maybe not everyone is completely honest in front of the camera. But every person has something special and unique! And everyone has the right to be happy. The most beautiful thing is inner balance. No matter what age. It makes me sad that there is not so much other good news from Russia at the moment. Earth could be such a good place to live for everyone.
Wow, I'm amazed at how many people believe they are beautiful in Russia. I think if you asked the same question of people in the U.S.A., there would probably be only 50% who would answer, "yes." Even the most physically beautiful in my country would probably answer, "no." Many have low self-esteem because they compare themselves to A-listers in Hollywood.
There’s a line in a great U2 song Bono wrote about people being way too confident…Americans aren’t suffering from low self esteem. We just know beauty when we see it…and that pride cometh before the fall…
For me it's more of a matter of humility. If someone asked me if I thought I was beautiful I'd ask "Why? That not for me to answer" Edit: I'm a guy so please don't assume I'm a "humble" woman. Women can feel however they want about themselves I personally just don't like getting complimented or complimenting myself.
Personally, I see only a plus in the fact that a person considers himself beautiful. it's great. both for him and for others. this world needs more positivity! it's even strange that such a positive mindset has so many fierce rivals
I agree. I totally believe that it´s good for you mental health and for everyone around you. There is the saying that you have to love yourself before you can expect others to love you. And it´s true. It feels so much better to be with someone who does not have issues with himself. The problem is, even if you tell a person that she is beautiful (and you truly mean it) often times the person still won´t believe it if this feeling does not come from within...
I think it is wonderful for people to have high self confidence. Always should love yourself. It especially makes me happy that some older people see themselves as beautiful.
I think in Russia admiting any faults considered being a looser. Even Putin considers himself handsome. Have you seen his photoshoot bear chest on top of the bear?
@@claudiamorley799 Dictators have not sense of ridiculous at all. I thought that the Russians were more modest and realistic, but I see in this video that they are not.
I want telling one Russian joke from you This joke is very popular What do pedophiles and diabetics have in common? Both want Alyonka ,but both can’t ( Alyonka is a Russian chocolate bar )
What a great question and all of them were beautiful answers :) These videos are wonderful and I find myself smiling and laughing along with the videos.
After I saw the first girl with the big glasses I already knew that a lot of people would say yes. Refreshing episode and it's good to see young people who like themselves in times where Instagram and Facebook is pressuring the society to look a "certain way".
I EXPLAIN. The people in the video REALLY think they're beautiful, they're not joking or anything. Now many have begun to accept themselves as they are, since beauty is subjective, and each person is individual and it is beautiful. ( (I'm from Russia)
hmm, intersting."Beautiful"is basically used for women in Japan, surprised that in Russia it is also used for men. 😮 Is beauty of figure a merit outcome in your Russian society?
@@user-qm9bk3bv9m The words used in Japanese for appearance and personality different to gender. Older Japanese including myself, don't admire the appearance of others, if we do it causes a little cultural difficulties. Russian looks like confident😮
Russia! You all got this so right. It goes deep and sophisticated in the history of the Russian soul. So smart, so beautiful, and yet such sad politics. Blessings on you all.
I question the beautiful souls! They hate anybody that is not Russian, and ignore kids being blown up, people being tortured, raped and murdered. But they love themselves. Last 24 hours have shown ever more disgusting atrocities while they cheered and asked for more similar content! Not my idea of beauty, their complicity is ugly!
Normally, a person sees himself to some extent better than he really is. This is a natural reaction of the psyche to fix attention on positive moments creating a zone of comfort and safety
This is a very interesting observation, it makes me think about many things, for example: are we really an egocentric society? You can see how the answers of different generations differ, older people doubt or give a negative answer.
And they are all so beautiful! I love people who love themselves! I also want to learn how to love myself, but something doesn’t work out ... I don’t like my reflection in the mirror, but I’m very happy for these people! Most likely, they went through a lot to love and accept themselves.
This is a very interesting video. I liked it all around. You've done this one before./ You know what we like. It is positive and shows a healthy perspective surviving in the culture. Yay!😎😎👀👀
Wow! That was really surprising!!! I would be very interested in hearing what Americans think about their looks. I don't think I know anyone that would openly say that they think they're beautiful. Maybe that's a little sad.
I hate to read comments from foreigners that people in the video are vain or overestimate their self-esteem. Love yourself and be loved. All the people in the video are beautiful. "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" - and if you think these people are ugly, I feel sorry for you.
All about accepting yourself & the way you look and understanding that beauty is subjective and everyone is beautiful. Therefore everyone’s a 10/10. That’s what mostly younger generations do why older ones are much more shy about their looks
I think it's nice that most of them say they think they are beautiful. Even the older people say it. I believe it's natural for every human being to love him/herself. In North America, though, we are subject to so many unrealistic ideas of beauty that few people really think that they are beautiful. There is an interesting contrast with racialized minorities here. For instance, black women are more likely to think that they are beautiful, regardless of their weight, and it is hypothesised that this is a result of the fact that black people were not directly targeted by advertising and media until recently. This fact is changing, and unfortunately it is having a negative effect on black women's self estimation, although they are still much, much more likely to think they are beautiful when compared to white women. White women here are quite likely to say that they are overweight even when they are an objectively healthy weight. This is one of the unfortunate and sickening effects of our hyper-capitalist economy. At some point it is not profitable to promote your products on the basis of their quality and good value for price. Rather, promoting insecurity in your target is a great deal more profitable. If you can generate and tap into this inner sense of inadequacy and lack, then it is easy to manipulate people into doing irrational things like spend huge amounts of money for little or no personal benefit, even to sometimes go against their own values such as buying products which are carcinogenic or which use unnecessary animal experimentation as a part of their production process. I find these responses very interesting. It's true that there are a great many reasons to choose to live in a prosperous and progressive country, but our economic system, run amok, does a lot of harm to our personal well being along with the natural environment that we all live in.
That's a very interesting opinion. I never thought about it. living in Russia, I can assume that black americans are more like blue collar russian people, simple and cheerful
I don't really think that only skinny people are beautiful. I have seen plenty of thin women who are not very pretty. And i have seen some moderately overweight women who look so pretty.
Even if you're ugly af, you should always consider yourself beautiful. It's your face, your body that you're gonna live with your whole life. Never be self-deprecating, respect and love yourself.
I'd be so happy to have the confidence to feel..and declare myself to be "beautiful"! I know what I would say, though. Nice eyes...the rest, not so much. I think that we, in the west, are taught by society to be humble and most are. Yes, one would find people declaring that they are the most beautiful, but not many and those who truly are beautiful, classically, in that everyone thinks so, more or less, those people don't believe that they are. At least not in my experience.
FOR ME THIS WAS AWESOME AND ILL TELL YOU WHY It was nice to see good honest Russian people without talk of politics or war They were all being themselves and pure natural 😎🍻🍻🍻🍻🍻
An interesting and more lighthearted interview 👍. For me as I get older, in my 50's, I can certainly appreciate a pretty (woman's) face but it means significantly less now than when I was younger. Positive, caring people are almost always attractive in their unique way. The Gal with the AK tattoo.....I wonder what's the story on that?
Interesting. I am somehow surprised about the outcome. I think that the people in my home-town (Berlin) would rate themselves lower. 7:52 the guy has model-like looks or rather has a very interesting face. 4:35 I love this group of guys.
It's crazy that some of those who replied with No were some of the prettiest in the entire video, like the lady at 8:42, and even the dude right after had a serious sense of style.
Interesting! The fact that so many people here in comments surprised to see such a big number of people answering yes, really shows the cultural differences. Because those responses coming not from sheer confidence, but rather from unwillingness to be open about their insecurities. Being realistic about their appearance may lead to honest answers, that may seem like a lack of self-worth or low self-esteem and thus vulnerability. And I can assure you, not many people here are ready to be vulnerable in front of the camera.
You're right. Knowing Russians well, they are very insecure indeed. They rely on their beauty to compensate themselves a lot but deep in their souls, Russians are very pessimistic and nihilistic.
Probably it helps to be asked by a friendly and attractive young person? So you can tell it is not a serious question, and the question is just an ice breaker. I recall the humorous 1970s song "OH Lord its hard to be humble, when you're perfect in every way. I can't help look in the mirror. I get more handsome each day. To know me is to love me. I must be a hell of a man. Oh lord, its hard to be humble. But I'm doing the best that I can."
