touch tone telephone plays faintly in the distance
i love martin and jon a lot, and this scene played out really clearly in my head, so i wanted to try to make an animatic of it! this is my third animatic ever, and the first one ive done after looking at how they actually work. i have a long way to go, so any and all feedback is very appreciated :]

Jon isn’t being dumb, he’s being paranoid. And not even that, as he’s right to be suspicious. He just doesn’t know where to look because the evil elephant in the room is something only the audience (and Melanie) knows about. And the person who actually killed Gertrude Jon was actually correct about and was only mislead because the real killer tampered with the evidence. (I’m trying to stay vague because I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. Everyone deserves to find out the mysteries for themselves, and a few got spoiled for me because I checked the wrong part of the wiki to early)

this is a very very good animatic. i love the way you captured their expressions and all the little details the the room setups and character designs!! your tim design is quite similar to mine and i appreciate that, if a little self centered, there are more of us who opt for the fluffy undercut style :) also the description is very good, season 2 jon was very very touch-tone telephone in nature

Everyone seems to draw Martin as being kinda chunky but I've always imagined him as super thin and lanky. Either way I love the expressions and body language!

I think it's because in the first episode we ever meet him when he talks about getting into the basement he says "...I mean, I’m not exactly the smallest guy in the world, I know, and..." Which kind of implies that he is, in fact, kind of chunky

We get no identifiers until then so the info we eventually get about him is kinda opposite, same with Jon and his graying hair. I'd already made my mental pictures before that detail got added, so it's an adjustment. One I'm happy to make, though!

Sorta off topic but its in the video: I’m asking the same question as jon why tf did he work at the institute? Even like with the finale and shiz years later i am to dumb to figure out why. Anyone gotta theory?

Are you asking why tim worked at the institute? Its because he saw his brother danny get killed by the circus/stranger and he got obsessed w finding out more about it, so he started working somewhere w access to the paranormal. He gives a statement about it in ep 104 if you wanna give it a re-listen, it's really good. A comment above asked how jon never came across danny's sus death in all his research, and in s3 elias admits to having "overlooked" tims investment w the circus when they were stopping the stranger ritual, so apparently it was easy to miss even in-universe :P
