The debt is not the issue. It is lower than it was after world war two. It is arbitrary anyway. There is no debt in reality. Governments can borrow at lower interest rates to invest but due to its commitment to Thatcherism, including austerity, Labour will not borrow to invest in infrastructure.

The big question I ask, bearing in mind there wasn't a single positive macroeconomic impact assessment for Brexit, if there's no negatives to raising trade barriers with your largest trade partners then what are the upsides to lowering trade barriers with other smaller economies on the other side of the world?
