I just started. Been OTR for two months, no breaks. I live in WA, so only coming out for a couple weeks isn’t worth it in terms of the difficulty in finding loads going home. Something for people to consider. If you don’t live in a good freight area, you’ll have a hard time making money going home, or if you’re not able to stay out for extended periods. Like the man said, be comfortable being uncomfortable. Set yourself up for success and equip your van (if you’re able) with everything you need so discomfort isn’t an excuse to quite or waste money on a hotel. This livelihoods is not for everyone. Thanks for the honesty in your vid’s! Glad to see you posting again as time allows. 👍

I noticed a lot of companies are not likely handing out work (loads) or contracts without a van on hand. Asking what they like may help, but longest and tallest you can afford is always the best for covering any OTR expedited load that comes along. I have ran both and I prefer OTR but they both can make good money if you hustle. Social media is like the government in my opinion, have never seen them help much of anything when they get involved. Thanks for the video.

One thing that I notice is that drivers don't treat their business like a business. They don't always market themselves. They sometimes don't appreciate the business that a broker may send them. So for example, even though you may have gotten your load by bidding well, you still should consider it your obligation to consistently thank that broker and their team for the business. We are not entitled to a load even if we are the low bidder. There are many other factors a broker may consider. Even if you are working for someone else, get in the habit of being professional and polite. If you have good habits, and you wind up going on your own, you will take those good habits with you. Btw, bad habits will follow you too.

The most amazing thing to me is that a lot of people watch these gig influencers and do not realize that a lot of those people are literally in it for the likes. I believe there is a guy who got into hotshot trucking and after a year was basically reduced to using this pickup to do gig food apps. This is a full time job. It is not something you do because you are chasing likes and want to build up a social media following. Honestly, im getting into cargo van work on the local level. The best piece of advise I've received so far is to have common sense when it comes to customer service aswell as not letting anyone take advantage of me. I can go on and on, but you guys get what I'm saying.
@EverythingApax

Common sense and awareness are 2 of the best attributes to have. Doing it at a local level, I believe, is less expensive and less of an investment right out the gate. Good luck!

With your current revenue, what it is, I do believe you should do better by going into the local/regional cargo van business. Here is a list of apps and websites to find work. Curri driver American Expediting Shiply > Frayt.com Amazon Flex Go Share > Dolly.com > Roadie.com Veho Spark Now Courier Pickup Drop Off CBDriver.com Zip Recruiter.com Rapidus.com > Dispatchit.com SDS (website) MDS (website) FINDRFP.COM Courierboard.com Payload app Capsule Axel Hire Task Rabbit Look into these apps and websites to find out insurance requirements BEFORE buying a van. This way, you can get an insurance quote to give yourself a solid projection of costs.

Really informative videos my guy, im on track to have my own company in the future when the tinme is right...but for now im interested in working for a fleet owner to gain experience and make some solid connections. Honestly OTR or Local either is fine for me im used to working 7 days a week i come from a labor intensive background so hard work and me are no stranger.. Do you know where i can get in contact with some of the owners that are looking to hire drivers? I know the economy is shit now, everywhere honestly is the same i have been and heard, techs being slaughtered, medical field is so so, logistics warehouse ehhhh, its all fuckery so i really have nothing to loose ive already been outta work for 6mo (personal choice) and recently got hired on with a DSP working through amazon so the experience there will be a plus. But im looking to make more cash than just an hourly rate of 20-24 pr hour working for a company! Im readt to know what its like being out there OTR or even local for the exp and to have a bit more cash from time to time than a 800 check weekly with whom i will be driving for currently. Dont get me wrong im grateful for the chance to get hired on with no exp but i know my work ethic and what im capable of! I know ur a busy man so just get back to me whenever, thnx.
