2013 Road-glide had a dead left front speaker and it would buzz when the volume was turned all the way down, I was ready to replace the radio and saw doc's video, FIXED! Thank you Doc.
Great video. The 2019 GTS has a different sequence. 1. Bike gas to be OFF for at least 15 seconds. 2. Turn IGN switch to ACC. 3. Wait 10 seconds for the Warning Screen to display. 4. Press and hold the Power/Mute button until the Service Menu is display. After the Service Menu appears, look for the Reset field in the scroll menu. Bonus, on the Reset menu, there is a selection to Reset your Last Miles Since Service if you do your own maintenance and want to reset it.
Thank you, I have been trying to figure out how to reset that miles since last service. My dealer forgot to reset it when I had my 1,000 mile service done. You are awesome !!!!
Doc… does doing this “Clear” any Map or Software updates that were installed? Does doing this clear options turned on by dealer “flash” (like CB?). Also How do you do a “Privacy Reset” (mentioned in the Boom manual). I want to clear out ALL my saved places in Navigation.

This was also how I was able to reset the Bluetooth on my 2017 Road Glide Ultra. It had just stop working.. Bluetooth screens were all grey'd out. Thanks Doc!
I absolutely love watching your videos and have seen A LOT of them. Your voice and demeanor are perfect! I have a 2012 FLHTK that doesn't seem to respond to the reset procedure. All appears to work fine but the radio still has all the presets still intact. Isn't the reset supposed to clear everything?
could you make a video on adjusting the display contrast? the radio on my bike has a blank screen and I don't know which buttons to push in order to fix it.

Doc can you release a video with the new Boom Infotainment system (specifically my 2020 Limited). Also, how would a factory reset affect the FLASH where I had the WHIM installed? Should I not do a factory reset after a WHIM flash?
Very possible. A last ditch effort is to remove main fuse, radio fuse, remove fairing un plug radio completely. Wait for at least 20min for complete shut down. Reassemble. Push on button with a lot of hope…..Doc
Doc, after you do the reset on the radio do you have to go back and update to the newest version on the software since it is going back to Factory Settings?
Hey Doc any videos on changing out handle bars on a 2016 tri glide, Would like to put on 10" and will they work with the old cables. Love to see a video on how this is done
I have not done a video on this conversion. I do suggest working with your dealer. They have a measuring tool that can be used with a handlebar choice to tell you what length clutch and brake lines needed. Also remember the added length needed for wiring and EFI throttle. Thanks ~ Doc

hum, this past week i started having issue with my radio it's 2011 HD Ultra Classic, do have JM 500w amp, and their speakers, been installed on the bike for over 4 years now was living in WI where it doesn't really get very warm during the summer, have done a few trips to the south west and FL, but now live 50 miles west of Las Vegas and temps been hitting just under and over 100, the volume will go out, if i turn radio off and then back on the sound will come back. today had it out in the sun to see what happens per JM Corp, radio was working the whole time, turned it off while did some other things to bike, turned on see if all good, no volume, tried this reset nothing helped. do the HK radio's go bad for this problem???
Hi Doc, what if the radio volume stops working? It shows the volume going up and down however, no sound. Reset it all and it's done this before but usually corrected itself in a few days. Now I'm without radio FM/AM, anything. It's still under warranty, think HD will give me a new one?
Doc, im using Roadglide 2015 and when playing song connected via bluetooth, the sound keep cutting (pause) and play. When i toggle the volumes up, sometimes it pop up media, and sometimes pop up prompts. I had tried my wife iphone also, but still had the same issues. Any experience on this ?
Nice video, I have a 2013 Electra Glide Ultra Classic FLHTK model......looking for a similar setup......I still have the factory radio and speakers....its time to upgrade to the latest technology...what do you recommend....I want to be able to go fully integrate my android phone and Bluetooth capabilities with the system and my SENA Bluetooth helmet intercom....thx
You can upgrade the whole unit for a “quicker” warning screen. Otherwise think of it as a gesture from Harley-Davidson that says “we care”. Thanks ~ Doc
Hey Doc Harley on my 2012 road glide I have no issues with sound but my screen keeps turning on and off. Even when it is off I still get sound. Any idea what this is?
2007 Ultra recently purchased. the sequence doesn't work on mine. i turn it on (not ACC) and when I press the 1/3 and OK button together ... nothing. Any suggestions?
It would be very helpful to a lot of us if you make a video of the ignition switch and wat could go wrong if your not careful. I took off my switch on my road glide and in not able to put it back on. I’ve done it before, but this time it won’t seat properly and it doesn’t rotate right. The bike does turn on. Any suggestions? Thanks!
How do you adjust the fader on a 2015 street glide special? I was fondling with it and got it to pop up then could not get it again? I have saddlebag speakers and majority of the sound is coming from there and I want to balance it out.
On my 2017 SGS. I'll be cruising and the stereo will just lock up... Sometimes after a few minutes it will just power off and then power back on. Sometimes it takes hours, like when I was on my way home from Sturgis . any ideas on what may be causing this?
2016 ultra limited w/factory 6.5GT. Won't go into service mode ! Followed these instructions to the letter but radio doesn't go the the "accept" screen- goes to the small H-D emblem with time displayed screen. Anybody know why?
I bought a 100. anniversary just like the one you have and had transported from Texas to Mexico City and the radio, CD, intercom system and MP3 are not working. i have the long whip atenneas with a spring on one, does it matter which side the spring antennae goes on? I have 2006 electraglide Bluetooth on but back speakers on front not. messed with balance still won't come on stereo playing this happen before got it going forgot what it was.what could it be😮😮
Start with the simple. Remove outer firing and check connections. Then take one speaker at a time and connect to the known good operating rear speaker wires. If the speaker does not work It’s blown. If it works then the wiring or connections up front are compromised….Doc
Hi doc, i am daniel from indonesia. I have 2014 ultra classic, and i change the radio (headunit) to 2014 street glide spesial radio. The problem is, there is no sound in rear speaker. Is the type of radio different?
Hi my auto speed volume control does't work on 15 ultra limited have latest down load went through processes of waiting for accept before starting and then resseting the control to off then back to the 3rd and 4th bar. still not working .Have you got any tips to get this working thanks Mike
First, where did you receive the instructions for this procedure? Why did you reset? Electrical issues before the reset thinking it was a Software issue? When was the last software update? All these are questions your local dealer will ask. I suggest you visit your local shop. I’m sure many will advise you from forums. Nothing beats hands on diagnostics…..Doc
@@LowCountryHarleyDavidson I think it was because the software was way out of date. When I reset it I didn’t have a working ration tuner. I managed to get the latest software onto a flash drive and got it installed and now everything is all good. I never knew I could update the software until I saw another video on RU-vid. So sorry for the last message, I panicked and got very worried I really screwed up big time.
I know you want a simple answer. That’s what I would want. But it is never that easy. Take it to someone who has the Electrical Service Manual and follow the flow charts…..Doc
@LowCountryHarleyDavidson part of it was my battery was dead. I jumped bike, it stayed on but radio won't come on at all. Yesterday bike was completely dead so I need to charge it to mess with it
Unfortunately I can't get mine to reset. I followed these steps exactly, but not success. I took it to the dealer and they couldn't get it to reset either. Could it be I have a defective system? Is there anything else I can try? I have a 2015 FLHTKL Low Ultra Limited, just like what you show in the video excepts it's a year newer. I purchased it used, I also purchased the extended warranty.
My 2006 Street Glide has no display and doesn't seem to have any audio, I've tried to do this reset blind but have had no success, do you think the unit needs complete replacement?
Will resetting my 2014 wipe the corrupt garmin routes I have that are rebooting my boom box, and are unable to delete, and will this affect the rear speakers that are flashed on by the dealership?
Too many possibilities. I would first make sure your switch on panel is in the speaker position. I would reset radio to factory settings, make sure your volume control is working, fo you have any Aux plugged in? When was the last Software update? Bring it to your dealer….Doc
Hi! I’m from Brazil and I just bought a HD Electra Ultra 2011. Unfortunately the radio display is totally turned off kind of illumination was turned to much down. How can I fixed it as I can’t see anything?
@@LowCountryHarleyDavidson Honestly, I don’t know. I am not much of a computer person. I only got a iPhone because I was told it was compatible with the iPhone! I think I can get better music with a plug in than just the Bluetooth.
Is there a way to reset radio when it powers on for one second then right back off the on then off? It does not stay on long enough to get to the reset menu.
My 2009 Ultra's radio is not very loud when parked, it has the auto volume boost as I'm driving and have accelerated to higher speeds. Is there a way to get more volume when I'm parked and not running. I have no problem monitoring the battery and would shut off the stereo when voltage drops much.
Review your setting. There are several ways to adjust volume. If you are wanting more, talk with your dealer about adding H-D Boom box amplifier. Thanks ~ Doc
@@LowCountryHarleyDavidson Thanks for the response Doc, for some reason , after changing settings a bit and experimenting, even though nothing seemed to help, when I turned off the accessory switch, then back on later, I got all the volume I could ever want.
doc, i have a 2015 Road Glide, the battery died for an extended period. Now the radio beeps, dealer said they cant flash it. they want $2,100 to replace it. Do you know of any other options? Be it aftermarket or somehow getting the beeping to stop.
Don’t know if anyone can answer.... If I do this will this just reset the EQ? Or will it remove the flash for the lower fairing speakers? CVO Ultra 2011.
This will not erase added speakers. When you have more speakers added, the calibration is changed as permanent software for the radio. A reset just puts factory setting not changing calibrations. Thanks ~ Doc
@@LowCountryHarleyDavidson just to let you know, since doing this, there is now a lot of speaker hiss when music isn’t playing. Hiss that you can still hear when the music is low, like as if you turn volume to 100% on a system before pressing play.
Ever since I've updated to the latest Boom Box GTS configuration released by Harley, my Bluetooth cuts out after 10-20 seconds. I reset my radio twice now to no avail.
It is up to you how you use this option. Some like to check there MPG. Some keep track of miles on to and from trips. I use it for keeping track on when to fill up...not completely trusting gauge...Doc
@@LowCountryHarleyDavidson this is on a 2018 Road Glide Special. No stock radio. Had Trip A unused to monitor how many miles putting on new engine. It was close to 10K now it’s back down to @120 something
I just bought a 2011 Street Glide. I bought a new battery for it. But the clock re sets every time I shut off the bike. I loose nothing else, just the clock. Will resetting the radio fix this?
What’s Plan B? I’ve gotta 2019 Street Glide that I’ve turned off, let set a minute, held the power mute button and turned the ignition to accessory while holding the button. Several tries and it turns the radio on each time. It refuses to pull up the reset menu! What next?
Our techs believe you are trying the GTS procedure vs the GT. For a GT model: Key off, hold two soft keys down while turning ignition on, keep holding untill after the Safety prompt screen comes on and you accept. then let go of the two keys. This should open the screen you want....Doc
I have a 2009 Electra Glide and I tried to reset my radio but it will not reset. The channels and settings are still there... I watched your video 3 times. am I expecting something that does not happen? I thought all the saved stations would clear, HELP

Anyone know here why my audio light (orange) is on , but no display showing ???? Can't see any writing on display , literally just orange light ... I can play cd or listen the radio but no display showing
This can happen with age of the radio. You can try a factory hard reset found in this video. I have a few old riders that just accept, listen and ride. Thanks ~ Doc
Hey Doc, I downloaded the new updated version in the flash drive, and followed all the instructions but everytime I plugged-in the flash drive, it keep saying..."the flash drive is drawing to much power, remove the device immediately"... Whats going on?
@@jrremigio3733 JR I am not clear on how your question has to do with reset? I don’t know about a Mp3 pulling too much power. It can drain your battery if you listen all night long with the motorcycle not running. Thanks ~ Doc
