I lived in Micanopy for a few years with my dad. I love watching Doc Hollywood and seeing all the familiar places.

Michael J Fox is such a great actor. I watched this movie at least 20 times. Thank you Jordan for doing all the foot work to bring us another awesome vlog!

Great video Jordan! I love the way you are so adaptable when filming! When something you want to Vlog is closed, you don't let it get you down! You just adapt, and film what you can with a good attitude! I love that!😁😃 That is one of the many reasons I really enjoy watching your vlogs!

My best friend,and her husband are from Micanopy Fl..Her husband stood about 1000 ft from Michael J one day during filming..I love listening to them talk about the filming of Doc Hollywood,and also about River Phoenix because his family lives in Micanopy..This was an awesome video thanks Jordon..One more thing it was during the filming of Doc Hollywood that Michael J..first started to experience his thumb twitching which later he found out it was due to Parkinson's..

I camped at camp Shands and found the cabin, it was a half cabin that they built just for the movie, the whole back side was open for filming. So cool, I have pictures. It was right after the movie came out so it all looked like it did in the movie. So cool.

Whenever I have to pee outside for some reason, I always think of this movie every...single...time.

My dad had Parkinson’s. Michael J. Fox was an inspiration for him and gave him hope that others eventually would not have to suffer from it. Shortly after my dad passed, my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. A few years ago I took my mom to meet Michael at the first Comic Con in San Jose. We were told numerous times in line not touch him. When we were walking up I told him my dad had had Parkinson’s and he’d been an inspiration for him. We had been told where to stand for pictures. I was watching my mom to be sure she went where she had been told. Michael reached forward (he was sitting in a director’s chair) and took her hand. He guided her to stand right next to him. He continued holding her hand as he put his arm around her. He was so sweet to her, (I have tears in my eyes as I write this.) My husband was in a test group for the MJF Foundation and I was able to tell him so. He still had his arm around my mom, holding her hand, but looked at me with appreciation. I don’t remember what he said but I know he expressed it meant a lot (the group required undergoing many medical tests as someone without Parkinson’s to compare with those recently diagnosed. It included painful tests like spinal taps regularly over a 6 year period). Most people at Comic Con go dressed as their favorite super hero. We did too - we wore our Michael J Fox Foundation shirts. As we were leaving he said, “Thanks for wearing the team colors.” As we passed the people directing the line to exit they each were smiling and told my mom how special that was and he didn’t do that for everyone. She was beaming. She replied in an almost whisper with a huge smile on her face, “Michael J.Fox hugged me.” She told me later that day, “That was a highlight in my life.” She was still talking about it for days afterward (which was amazing since her short term memory was not usually very good). Thank you for this vlog for the fun of it on its own, but also for the wonderful memory it brings up for me. I am going to show my mom the picture from that day and see how she reacts.

Please come back for the 4th of July parade! The Doc Hollywood ambulance is in it every year. Even without that, though, it's the best 4th of July parade anywhere.

i was just there in march 2024. I had a blast, took lots of video and pictures. i ate at the cuban restaurant, did some shopping at the mechanic shop that's now an antique store. it was a fascinating experience in micanopy!

I really like this movie. It was one of his best. What a cute little town. So interesting how you find all these places. But more interesting is how you tell the stories. I so hope you keep doing what you do. There's no one else like you. You're one of the best out there.

River and Joquim Phoenix used to live in Micanopy and River Phoenix was living in Gainesville when he died in L.A. His funeral was in Gainesville and he wasn't embalmed because he was cremated afterwards. His ashes were spread at his family's home in Micanopy which is a few miles from Gainesville. Their sister, Rain, had a band that played in Gainesville for years and before River died he had a band in Gainesville and played in small bars and venues. His favorite restaurant is still there. They have a vegan friendly menu. Some of the venues are still around too.

This movie is very special to me. I watched it for the first time in 1995, and since that first time, I wanted to know the filming locations (but just recently I found out about Micanopy). I had a copy of this movie on VHS and watched it many times during my childhood and adolescence. Today I am doctor, and I became a doctor, for the most part, inspired by the character Ben Stone. Today I also work in a small town and often find myself in situations very similar to those narrated in the film. I didn't get any pig, but they already brought me chickens and a goat 　 . Thanks for the video!! This movie is amazing!! I will visit "Grady" very soon !!

Cool! I lived in Ocala at the time and remember when that film was being shot. A friend of mine had a very small role in the film. He was the large patient that didn't want to get a shot and Stone/Fox had to wrestle and basically hogtie him in order to do the vaccination. Also, if I remember correctly, there were pictures of Fox and Harrelson partying (presumably in Gainesville) and the tabloids claimed that Fox was regularly acting intoxicated on set. However, it turned out that his behavior was actually the early signs of Parkinson's. Of course, the tabloids never retracted or apologized for the stories when the truth came out.

Thank you, Jordan... The movie was wonderful & your vlog inspired me to watch it and then come back to finish watching the vlog. Just what the doctor ordered... In today's times I just can't seem to get enough lighthearted happy comedy. I'm newly retired from a business career and now I might just pop up to Micanopy & check it out. I also forgot about Bridget Fonda and how she always flirted with Michael J Fox those were some funny scenes. How bout that hilarious scene where Lou starts peeing all over the woods to keep the deer away.. so the hunters can't get them... and then makes him start peeing too. 😂 I'm going to have to go back and watch it again.
