Kudos to the stellar writers of Doc Martin. They give Martin and Louisa the best arguments. Neither one ever wins - because they're both right! (And both always manage to miss the point!).
Me, too. Sad, that this will be the end. But watching individual episodes, is the same for me. I'm swept up in it. I guess it's unrealistic to expect them to go it forever. But it is such a special show. If you have your medical care, you've got something! That's a takeaway from this. Medical care (from getting insurance), changed my life I hope this series makes people aware of that. Everyone benefits from it. I just wish caring went a little farther than that, into everyday life. Mental health care scares a lot of people (particularly if you're on government insurance), because it's overly focused on medications, and you're seen as sicker than the general population. It's all about your social standing - popularity, social success. That's how people are evaluated (seems so to me). Things happen. You do your best. Some people see that, but they're hard to find. Then they're hard to know (the social strata). You seem nice! We can comfort each other here. Kelsey Grammar (Frasier), is into that. I read that he is very interested in mental health. His show was about that, different scenarios that can happen. Take care. Cindy G
Life without Doc Martin is like going for a walk with no sceenary .It is so complete and the characters are so lovingly absorbing.Who really cares if Louisa and the Doc get on together -----------------I do !!!!!!!!!
MY DAD, MYSELF, MY HUSBAND ARE HOOKED ON THIS SHOW! I BINGE WATCH THIS SHOW OVER AND OVER! We laugh like we never ever seen it before! Why it's not known here in NY or USA is RIDICULOUS!!!!
I love this show, I'm so glad I found it on PBS. All of the characters are so quirky and fun, and I'm glad the show doesnt take itself too seriously unless it needs too, and that's why their arguments feel so real to me! Martin is a wonderful person and a great doctor, but lord he would be hard to be married to! Louisa has the patience of a saint 😂
I have watched this show , Doc Martin , over and over . l could watch it forever ,also . I love the shows main actors Lousia and Martin . Everyone are great actors and actress . I look forward to Season 10. The writers , Producers and Directors and all crew are Awesome. I love everyone connected with this wonderful show . Blessings , Leta from California , USA
I wish it didn't have to end either. It's very entertaining and I've come to love the characters and I love the location. Port Isaac is wonderful. Doc Martin has become part of my happy. I can't imagine any other program doing that. Thank you to all of the actors, crew and the people of Port Isaac. . 😊
I cant stop smiling through doc Martin especially new episodes! The tunes during scenes makes it feel like far away exotic place yet homely same time !!
I forgot how much I love this show! I have all the DVDs. I think it's time for a complete rewatch. Maybe I'll wait a little longer until the weather gets colder and the days shorter. This is a great show to watch on those LONGGGGGGGGGGGG evenings when it seems as if they are never ending. I can't wait!
Three tv series / rated at the very top of the scale of all time // Gunsmoke / Miami vice / original series // & Doc Martin / a wonderful life experience !!
I love Doc Martin, I love Portwenn (Port Isaac) I want to live there!! Auntie Joan was wrong: it IS a chocolate box village, I wish life could be that simple
G ledger , I’m totally with you , I love it and hanker for a more simple life in a place like this , if Only this was a true documentary and I was part of it. Just started last night to watch all nine series again.
Krptv. Hope the weather is sunny for you , watch out if you have an ice cream or walk with food in your hands , THE SEAGULLS have no fear at all ,!! They will go for you . I went last summer with wife , parking was a nightmare even with a disabled badge.
Truly hope 'the powers that be' make a Season 10 of this wonderful program. It's an incredibly well-done, feel-good series and I don't know of anyone who's seen it not liking it. And due to its popularity, investors would only make money on their investment so it'd be a win-win project.
I agree. I love this wonderful exploration into other worldly village life... or so it seems. Can't get enough of these Cornwall characters and their conflicts.
l hope they have a change of heart. Continue these wonderful episodes. I love them. I watch everyday. Very good for a body's pysche. I await the series 10. Give us more love and romance with Doc and Louisa. Thanks. Brenda from USA. (Ohio).
You picked the best most memorable scenes/arguements between them - the ones that had real spirit spark and life to them, the ones that stand out in my memory as well.
It's a feel good show. I love it too. I can't imagine no more Doc Martin. I read they're wrapping up season 9 and there will be a season 10. Yay!!!! I'm tickled pink!!!
Louisa must realize that Doc Martin is first a Doctor who loves his job. So she has to learn not to get upset when he goes off to a patient even though it happens when they try to spend time together. He is so rude its unbelievable. Lol. And yet Louisa loves him so. He is on the asperger's spectrum I believe.
Just the fact that grumpy ol’ “I don’t care about people” doc Martin falls head over heel in love with the sweetest, most sociable ray of sunshine I find HIGHLY interesting. 😏
Louisa always thinks why Martin behaves "like that". Martin has not got attention and love when he was a kid, hiding his emotions. Next time when YOU see or meet a person who "behaves like that" - think before you say or ask something, the reasons for his/hers actions can lead deep into past and childhood.
I borrowed the complete series on dvd from my public library to catch episodes I missed. Now I own all of them through series 9 to binge watch as often as I want!
He withdrew from the program and jumping through all the hoops they wanted him to jump through, so in effect, he resigned. He saved a patient's life in the end during surgery, when the surgeon's eye problems caused him to almost botch the operation. That surgeon seemed to be telling Martin that if Martin kept quiet about his eyesight, he would make sure Martin passed with flying colors and would be able to keep practicing. Knowing Martin, he probably refused to do that and resigned instead. Just my speculation. But that would leave the door wide open for him to return to medical practice in series 10.
@@PerthTowne I agree, it also occurred to me that his conscience / ethics wouldn't allow him to put other potential patients of that surgeon in harm's way... so, in effect, he had no choice, would not accept the terms of the surgeon and had no recourse but to resign. I think, in season 10, the surgeon will be found out, Doc Martin will be vindicated and he will return to practice.
Martin is right, I can care less about bedside manners, I just want to find a doctor that knows what they are doing. If I need a friend I will make one, if I need a therapist I will go see one and if I need to feel good I watch Doc Martin. Just out of curiosity, are small towns really like this in the UK?
@@patriciamoore6790 I grew up outside a town of 300 people. Port Wen as portrait is so much nicer. There where a few rough families in and around our town that made it not so nice a place. Almost forgot about the crooked or not caring law enforcement.
@Tom Angle I'm going to have to disagree with you on the bedside manner. We recently had a doctor at the local surgery (NHS, therefore U.K. based) who was highly professional, well skilled, but had absolutely no bedside manner. The result was a complete breakdown of trust between him and the patients, including myself. There was no question of incompetence or malpractice, but enough of the patients transferred to another surgery to result in the closure of the original doctors. A good doctor, with bad bedside manner, often results in patients who end up feeling worse, not better.
@@diogenesesenna9323 I guess I was raised a little different. I try to accept people and their different personalities. When I go to the doctor I do not need a friend or a therapist, I need to feel better. I of course was raised to stand up for myself if I think I am being insulted. So I must be different than most.
He was right though when he said she couldn't manage having a baby and teaching, because as soon as she had the kid she handed it to everyone else. Doc Martin had to bring him to daycare and pick him( then a baby sitter, then the aunt and in the end the woman who ran the nursery was doing it), the aunt and everyone she could think of. Not only when she was teaching but when she decided she wanted to become a counsellor she hardly saw him. She was off taking classes. After a long day, Doc Martin was making the meals and managing the kid. Then she gets pregnant again? Now they will be two to hand off to everyone else.
Seems like the nature/nurture debate only presented as logic/emotion. Am married to someone who’s logic is infallible - think Mr. Spock on Star Trek; fortunately, logic is a large part of me too.
You forgot the best one! Martin - "Yes. The perineum. Between the anus and vagina" (gestures graphically) Louisa - "Martin, were in a shop..." Mike - "Preserving the Romance, Doc?" What makes it so good is that Louisa comes so close to corpsing on the last line.
Acorn TV just announced that S10 is on its OCT schedule so check beginning Oct 1st. I don't think all 8 episodes will be up right away since in the UK they will have only aired 5 of the 8 episodes. The final, the Christmas episode, will be added over the Christmas holiday.
@@lindaruss3772 Just announced: "In the US, it's now been officially confirmed that season 10 of Doc Martin will air on Acorn TV starting Monday, October 17th. We'll see two episodes weekly through November 7th." Christmas Special airs in Dec.
I love the series, and the characters' development as the time goes. But I must say, I find Louisa horribly judgemental in a very hypocritical way - it became clear with the therapist, and in how she finds it so easy that Martin gives her everything she wants just to stay with her (baby's name, her job, her studies, living apart...). True, he's not an easy character, but I mean!
I agree. She is getting really a pain to watch. Everything is his fault. She doesnt realise she is self-centered. Always playing the blame game. She acts as if everything is about her.
Two idiots too stubborn to realise they love each other. One acts upon rules of science and practicality and the other one uses too much common sense and gets very emotional for people who could care less of her. I like it how even though bad luck seems to encounter their love, they still somehow manage to be attracted to each other like polar opposites. They subconsiously learn from each other. Louisa begins to be more assertive and self of herself while Martin melts his stern and posh personality and is more receptive to his feelings. That is how you know the writers did a good job. The point of the story is too see your characters evolving and learning from their experiences. This December the series will be over and I am glad to see that people out there still watch it. I just hope it will end on a happy note.
i wonder why i have developed a liking for this show and im sure its not good for me. explanation im a insecure man with trust issues which makes me a weird boring man like this martin fella. i have no idea why Louisa wastes her life on him.
Wenever she’s stuck , she calls him to help & he’s always there & as a wife wot does she do ? So many modern women r like her , she wants to have the baby like she’s got another thing on her shelf .. marriage, baby need consideration & she’s getting so much more than she dishes out !
To tell the truth, I always side with Doc Martin when they argue. I find everything about her extremely irritating. Her grating personality is only matched by her wardrobe and hairdo. She is a hypocrite, to say.
