The creators of Futurama are incredibly well educated. Several have masters degrees, a few even had PHDs. They are focused on comedy, but they remain accurate for the vast majority! Thats kind of their thing! When it comes to physics and math, they do tedious calculations just to remain accurate. They are the most overqualified cartoon creators i know of lol

Talking about the colonoscopy (sorry if my spelling is off) and how they work was actually really interesting to me. My grandma hit the age where she was supposed to get one as part of her yearly medical exam but refused to because she said she was scared. My grandpa, who is five years younger than her, wasn't due for one but scheduled one completely out of pocket just because he loved her so much he wanted to prove it wasn't scary by having one first. They caught colon/rectal cancer with his. He's now been nearly 25 years cancer free now. And, thanks to seeing how important the screening was, even though she probably wasn't particularly less scared after how his turned out, she did get her colonoscopy, and everything was fine for her.

That episode was based on Fantastic Voyage, a 1966 science fiction film about a submarine crew who is shrunk to microscopic size and venture into the body of an injured scientist to repair damage to his brain. Bantam Books obtained the rights for a paperback novelization based on the screenplay and approached Isaac Asimov to write it. Its modern and imaginative production design received five nominations at the 39th Academy Awards mostly in technical departments, winning for Best Visual Effects and Best Art Direction in Color.

3:10 I just watched a video about Phineas Gage, like, ten minutes ago, just before this one ! It gives me the same feeling of when you learn a new term and suddenly you think that everyone is talking about it, and that they never did before. But this time it's not that weird feeling, it's such a big coincidence that I'm mind blowed ! It a french video from the channel "Dans ton corps", he was a nurse and he's talking about health facts in general, it's really fun and instructive ! In french of course, but there are subtitles 😊

You raise a good point about Leela's eye. It probably does have much better resolution than a normal sized human eye.

Dr. Mike mentioned the penny, but he never expressed surprise at how regularly Fry appears to eat his silverware. Also, something Dr. Varshavsky never mentioned: when Fry cuts his own brain, he shouldn't say "Ow". The brain has no sensory neurons. In fact, people experiencing brain surgery can stay awake through the whole procedure. It's wild.
@fractalisomega9517
@fractalisomega9517 5 дней назад
The most impactful scene is where Fry decides to ask “Does she love ME” And I think this in particular has a lot of parallels to people who take medication for neurodivergency and it raises the question of whether the medication helps or whether it just buries the true self and the importance of finding someone who loves the true self and not what the medication makes you become

Thank you for posting this today Dr.Mike! I'm trying to keep myself in good spirits as my pcp told me yesterday he thinks I most likely have hodgkin's lymphoma, so I'm anxiously waiting an US and biopsy appointment. I just was stented for may thurner syndrome last year, which was already difficult to deal with and very painful. I'm a FT single mom in college working to become a DPT in a fairly new state with no family or village here to really help, so I'm a bit nervous as it is, but I'm trying to stay positive. I worry about my 10 yo son seeing me do chemo if I am HL positive. I know you have some experience in this unfortunately. Just wanted to share that your videos and content are helping me right now. Keep being awesome.❤

My dad was once admitted to the hospital because his hemoglobin count was only a 6. They did an endoscopy and a Colonoscopy but didn't find any bleeding so he had to do the camera pill. Still didn't locate any kind of bleeding but his hemoglobin went back to normal so they decided whatever it was fixed itself. Those camera pills are HUGE

For earwax I like to clean the relative outer part of the canal. Anything deeper can be dealt with a simple soak in a warm shower and using a finger to create a vacuum effect for most cases
