I don't know if anyone agrees with me, but personally I was not bothered by the lack of cameos, I think there were plenty and some of them were even awesome. I was bothered by the fact that many characters, including many surprise characters but also many main characters were terribly mishandled.
Completely agree. More cameos would be cheap and gimmicky. I was just gutted with the desperate mishandling of Wanda. I was never sold on Raimi. I didn't like Spiderman, and he ruined Oz. After watching his mistreatment of my favourite character, he can eat glass.
I wouldn't say mishandled, though I see what you mean, but their screen time was extremely short, but I think they were handled decently for what screen time they did have. Definitely could have been better, but wasn't bad at all.
Ugh that’s so disappointing. I guess when Feige said you don’t have to watch WandaVision to know what’s going on in Multiverse of Madness, he was right. That is so unfortunate.
@@Dr.LongMonkey Kevin Feige wouldn't put strange in Wanda vision because he was a white male, I have no idea how you can say he has no faith in female characters when most of the new marvel characters being brought in are all female...
Well, personally I didn't want this movie to be solely about Wanda because it is a Dr. Strange movie, so I liked the movie overall. It was different and refreshing. (I love Wanda though, I want her to have her own movie)
I have seen it. I agree with most, especially the cameos…. BUT I only disagree with scarlet witch not showing up all powerful. She absolutely dominates and quite literally desecrates EVERYONE lol
Having just seen it, I personally found the Raimi visual style very nostalgic and fresh at the same time for a marvel film, especially with the horror elements, though PG-13 they may be. The story itself, however, leaves a lot to be desired. I felt the movie spent so much time jumping from point to point that we never had enough time to connect to any single plot thread. As for Wanda, it seems they boiled down the most basic parts of her character motivations from WandaVision and tossed out all the nuance and emotion that made that story so great.
Lmfao she was being possessed by the darkhold it’s pretty obvious why she acted the way she did. Also by the end of the film, you really think all the nuance was gone??? I felt the opposite.
I'm starting to wonder if Marvel is afraid to go full force because all their projects since Infinity War felt like they were teasing the full potential but always teasing it and not doing it.
I will wait to see the movie for myself, but the idea that WandaVision is completely undermined is really worrying for me, since WandaVision is probably my favorite thing to come out of the MCU other than No Way Home. It was my biggest worry about this movie, that Wanda would just go back on her development and that it would make the show's whole story pointless, so yeah... I hope I come out with a different conclusion than you...
lol grace is a vocal minority. the vast majority of the premier attendees have said that film is amazing from beginning to end. So i wouldn't let the word of one critic against that of many of others turn your opinion of the film sour.
@@TheAndrewJohnBennett My fav MCU product is def WandaVision as well to be fair. I feel more attached to Wanda and her family than any of the other Marvel characters tbh.
@@zinthaniel9913 Thats a lie. I literally saw dosens of critics saying that the movie is good/fun but it has multiple flaws. Its definitely not a minority.
I got a bit anxious when they announced the movie would only be 2 hours. For such a big movie, that felt a bit short. I think it should've been at least 2.5 hours (like infinity war and no way home) to fit in all the story with all the characters and give the movie more moments
yeah tbh i did not really understand because the scale of this movie seem to be something you would see in avengers moviies and they should have done it in 2 parts like with the thanos storyline. The MCU is starting with cosmic issues and they often have a lot of dephts and ramifications and you just can't sum up all of that in 2 hours, that was the same issue with Eternals. If they don't change how they do things, we'll find ourselves with a lot of mediocre movies coming our way
@@roudkaross That's the problem, just watched the movie and the plot itself is small-scaled than what the Title of the film implies. The film overall is decent but the plot is so disappointing, the fact that the film isn't about Dr. Strange trying to stabilize the Multiverse because of his actions and the other heroes' (Wanda, Spidey, Loki Variant and Sylvie) already tells you how Mid it is.
Sounds like Wanda's been given the Daenerys Targaryen treatment: a popular and powerful female character stripped of nuance and turned into a murdering, one-note, remorseless villain with little build-up.
I'm not so sure about that. The way she enslaved and mind f*cked those townspeople in WandaVision(so much that they were begging to die!) seemed fairly remorseless. That's the build-up. Right there.
Except they repeated like 20 times that the Darkhold corrupt anyone who reads it, so it makes sense that someone with as much trauma as Wanda would be especially susceptible to it. Besides, I still can't believe people didn't see Daenerys turning into a villain from a mile away, I was expecting that to happen from the very beginning.
I came into the movie without expectations and was blown away. Not sure why you thought Endgame Wanda was more powerful than MoM Wanda. Agree with your point on Vision and why, for some reason, they just totally forgot about him apart from a few callbacks.
Ikr, this film was awesome! Had style and character in addition to doing Justice to wanda(albeit by overshadowing strange in his own film). I loved the Raimi-ness of it all
I honestly felt this movie was a masterpiece - this will divide the comic book people from the people that only know marvel by the films. This was the most comic book accurate portrayal of the witch to date.
@@christopherfoster9438 how do you idiots have the inabillity to discern what actually looks like a video game versus actual CGI, especially Sam Raimi style is beyond me. No gaming system has CGI in graphics looking that great.
As always, I’ll reserve my thoughts on the matter until after I see it myself. I don’t always agree with Grace’s take on movies, but I appreciate her honesty and the explanations for her feelings on them. It doesn’t reek of click reviews that either praise or pan a film to the extreme.
Yeah, it was supposed to be spoiler free, but I feel like the entire film has just been sharted on. Remember, Grace did praise WW86. That film to me was as bad as it gets.
@@ijohnathonwhite8002 I didn’t mind WW84, honestly. Reminded me of old Christopher Reeves Superman movies. But for a recent example, I didn’t agree with many of her points about ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once’. I could see where she was coming from on some things, but they didn’t detract from the the movie for me.
From what I have read there was an early draft of the script involving Wanda as the opener of the movie that showcased more of what is happening to her post Wandavision and I think that should have been kept in the film for context.
I really was hoping to see Wanda being corrupted by the dark hold, and now knowing that's not the case.. I feel kinsa bad. And you're right they should have kept that scene.. To really connect it to wandavision
@@Ravendra_k i heard from others that have seen the movie that theres a tiny bit of exposition involving dark magic and how it twists the mind of the caster. So in essence it still is the darkholds fault even if Wanda isn’t necessarily possessed by anything.
@@mostcreative3680 after watching the movie i can say for myself, the exposition wasn't enough. They really said witches be crazy with this one.. I'm with grace on Wanda being underwritten by Waldron.
I disagree when you said that she looks more powerful in endgame and other movies. I mean sure, she looks powerful in endgame but it’s more “clean” powerful if that makes sense. In this movie she is BRUTAL, she doesn’t care, she’s coming for your life kind of powerful.
She’s not as brutal though- she was only brutal during the Illuminate scenes. For the rest of the movie and the scenes before the illuminati, we see things that we have already seen before.

@@phantomzxro1 I will give you that. My frustration is that, I hoped she would keep on going in that direction. We needed to fear her, she’s the scarlet witch of Legend.

She obliterated the Kamar-Taj by herself killing many sorcerers and literally destroyed a universe's most powerful Avengers (Iluminati) in the most gruesome way while possessing another version of herself....
She was literally too powerful. I don’t see how she could have been more powerful??? She took on Strange, Captain Carter, Captain Marvel, Professor X, Mr Fantastic, Black Bolt and beat all of them!!! If that’s not powerful I don’t know what is
After end game Kevin ran out of ideas. If he stopped after engame he would be a legend, but now he’s turning into just another out of touch Hollywood executive
The Eternals and Strange 2 don't compare. The first was a massive, ill-conceived, wannabe art piece with a massive blind spot, the second is a really entertaining Sam Raimi movie. Such a reach of a statement by Grace. She doesn't dig Sam Raimi; I get it...but her opinion is way off here.
When it comes to the hype train and expectations, I think the scoopers are to blame for it? We wouldn't know much about the cameos unless they reveal it to us? and thn later on when the studio decide to cut it, we feel bad even though the movie didn't really promise any of that in the first place?
Expectations overall are sooo dangerous. And i think that Grace had a lot of them considering how much she knew about the movie due to her insiders and of course shes a big xmen and house of M fan and what not so its totally understandable that the hype was built. I think its better to go in expecting the least even if you do know about spoilers that are 99% confirmed you should still take them extremelylightly
@@magicalpig6542 Right? even before No Way Home, I went in thinking I won't feel bad even if Tobey or Andrew is not there. That definitely didn't happen but if it's not shown in the trailer, why expect it in the first place?

Actually that was my first though after leaving the movies that he wasn't the Best choice. And I was straight on mad, as Grace, that they undid Wandavision..

Even when I like a movie that Grace does, I still disagree with her. Her Onward review had me quite worried, but then I saw the movie and it became one of my top Pixar movies of all. Top six along with Inside Out and the four Toy Stories. The last of which Grace bashed, of course. She also hates Inside Out.

Saw an advanced screening last night with my whole family, hubby and 3 adult daughters. Our daughters all have their birthdays this week 2, 4 & 6 of May. We enjoyed it, but we aren’t that versed with the comics. We were there for both Doctor Strange and Wanda and I was excited. Yes I laughed at, not with the movie. The problem is that it’s hard to know whether you are supposed to laugh with the film and that to me is the main issue. The tone is off. Is it tongue in cheek or just ridiculous? Still my whole family had a blast because it was bonkers and had fun discussing it over tea and dessert after the film. We did discuss the Sam Raimi influence and agreed that it was a little OTT. I can’t say I was disappointed. For me, Marvel is just a bit of fun. I don’t have so much stake in it and as a result I was able to go along for the ride. My heart is with the Star Wars Universe. Bring on Obi Wan…
As much as I love Grace's content, there's a reason I don't watch her movie reviews until after I've seen the movie. Because I've learned that Grace's reviews tend to tell me more about her personal pet peeves than they tell me about the actual movie. Grace is a human being, like all of us, and her reviews are always filtered through her personal convictions and values.
All the Marvel fanboys were coming for Grace in her review when she basically said she was disappointed and everyone said she’s exaggerated. Yet now plenty of critics are coming up now saying the same things . Y’all need to admit your misogyny real quick
I've just watched the movie and I have to say as a Wanda fan, this is truly Wanda's movie as much as it was Doctor Strange's. I smiled (in a good way) throughout the Wanda scenes in the second act cause it made me so happy. However, I do agree that the didn't really acknowledge Wandavision that much, but I think that's because Kevin Feige said we didn't have to watch Wandavision to understand the movies. Elizabeth Olsen really was the standout in this movie and had an Oscar worthy performance in a non-Oscar worthy movie. I think the movie suffered from only being 2 hours long, I kept looking at the time thinking are they gonna wrap this up in time. Finally I think the cinematography/ visuals were amazing and were so different from other MCU movies and as for the horror elements, of course it wasn't on par with horror movie but I did jump in seat for a lot of scenes. Overall, I really enjoyed this film and would go see it again.
are the action scenes good? i heard the illuminati fights are a letdown because of how easily they were defeated and this person goes on to say that the illumanti went toe to toe with thanos or something. well i guess i shouldn't be surprised seeing as theses marvel characters are nerfed in some way.
@@beerme27 Actually cinematography wasn’t as good as he said. Cgi was very questionable at some points. And yeah don’t expect something from illuminati. They didn’t give them justice at all. It felt like they only liked wandas character in this movie lol.

@@gamerforlife3946 I guess I didn't really notice about the CGI. Is it the best? No, but I liked the cinematography and and how it was shot. As a Wanda fan, I definitely have a bias towards her, but overall all the actors were definitely the highlight of this movie. However, I can agree with you regarding the Illuminati. Personally, I think the script was the problem as the story felt too rushed. Is it the best MCU movie? No, but it was a great movie (in my opinion) to watch and enjoy even though it didn't quite live up to the "Madness" we expected.
@@beerme27 Personally, I think all the problems that movie might have may be because of the script and overall I thought it was a bit rushed. It's the most brutal MCU I've seen, cause when it was brutal I was really wowed, but don't expect too much horror. However, I still loved this movie and would definitely watch it again.
I wonder if Feige himself is just getting burnt out. There's been a lot of talk about fans potentially feeling fatigued from too much Marvel content (and superhero content in general, I think), but maybe we all failed to consider that Feige himself could be feeling some fatigue. I just find it interesting how some of the recent films have been so hit or miss, with this and Eternals, both of which seemed like definite hits when announced and first promoted. Maybe Feige's somehow lost his way when it comes to knowing what the MCU needs. Maybe he's spread himself too thin with the movies and shows. It does sound like his decision to make the shows only loosely connected to the MCU was a very bad one. Maybe the man just needs a break and should hand the MCU reigns off to someone else. I mean, George Lucas stopped actively working on Star Wars films when that franchise began its downward spiral, right? Maybe we need someone new to run this show.
How are you going to call it "Multiverse Of Madness" when they cut out the cameos. This is WandaVision ending all over again. Like how did Sony beat them at a multiverse story? 🤨
@@thatomanaka323 the multiverse story was first done by Sony with spider verse and don't forget that all the cameos in NWH were characters that only Sony made. Not Disney.
To be fair Grace, the MCU has rarely been great at establishing memorable and distinct locations within it's world. Nowhere and the Stark Tower were the only locations so far that have been established well. In contrast Doctor Strange and Thor so far have suffered because they're supposed to be these wondrous magical worlds but their locations are so drab and forgettable like the Sanctum, the Sorcery School and the worst one Asgard.
Having watched the movie myself, I have to agree with your comments about it not feeling like the same Wanda. Without spoiling it... To me, this felt like a completely different Wanda. It didn't feel like a desperate mother searching for her kids who is corrupted by the Darkhold. It felt like a Wanda from another universe who was a bloodthirsty, psychopathic killer. I have no issue with Wanda doing bad things, but she isn't an evil person. I felt like we had no idea as to how we truly got from A to B. Saying she was corrupted by the Darkhold is just a bit flat if you ask me.
Wandavision Wanda kept hostage an entire town, even if he didn't knew at first, she kept doing it for a while, she's definitely not a victim in this scenario, she was willing to do morally bad things after the darkhold, adding that to the mix she can definitely kill all those people
@@IvanCH98 I agree but she was not Wanda for me anymore and I think that is what they wanted for her to be the Scarlet Witch and leave the Wanda persona behind
@@zullymaldonado2122 I mean, yeah, it's pretty clear in the movie, she is the scarlet witch, she's a very powerful magic being corrupted by the darkhold, but even in WV she was the MC but she definitely wasn't a hero there, and it literally ends on a shot of her reading the darkhold so... I don't see why it is said here you don't see where his evil side comed from? Since WV was her "breaking bad" showing us how far she's willing to go to "be happy'
At first I was confused on why Wanda would be so different but now I understand. The Darkhold corrupts the user so WandaVision Wanda has been kind of erased for that reason... It has a "dark hold" on her.
Grace says this undoes Wandavision. No way. Wandavision was already a series in which Wanda was the villain. Then, Wanda was corrupted by the Darkhold at the end of that series. Wandavision completely set this movie up. And even if you haven't watched all the TV series in which the Darkhold was present (Agents of SHIELD, Runaways, maybe one more (I forget)), it's explained in this movie the effect it has on readers. I just don't get "we never see her go bad". Wandavision was where she went bad. And at the end of the show, we saw her in possession of the Darkhold, which clearly exacerbated her villainness.
I have been waiting for this movie since it was announced. I was extremely excited to see Wanda in action, especially after her growth in WandaVision. So to hear that they’ve reduced her to nothing is absolutely depressing.
@PK can you explain why? I just saw the movie and wandavision was just her descent into more despair to reach the climax in this movie, she kept an entire town hostage in wandavision and even after knowing she had some part in it she kept along with it, I don't see how people think she was redeemed or something at the end of WV
I really enjoyed the Illuminati scene and it got a huge pop from my crowd. The cgi at the tentacle monster fight is indeed bad, but I thought it got better. I thought Wanda was rather OP in all of her fights. I enjoyed how merciless she was, even though it felt a bit like Khaleesi at the end of GOT. At times it felt like a trashy B-movie with a 200 mio budget but in a good way. I think as a fan of the MCU you‘ll have fun with it. I can remember a couple of nice action scenes. I‘m definitely gonna watch it again. I‘m just not sure if this will make a billion, The Batman is the far superior movie even though it’s apples and oranges. Let’s see what the people say about the Avatar trailer. Thought it was cute but didn’t wow me.
A word of advice don’t talk about dc movies in an MCU review movie lol. And i agree with you, the movie was good just not great. It also didn’t do justice to most characters and i would say wanda was the saviour of the movie actually because without her the movie would have been bad. Plus i think the hype its fans did for this movie will actually hurt it more than help it lol
i very loudly said "they're variants they'll be back in a couple movies" when it fell quiet after the Illuminati sequence and everyone around me laughed. felt powerful lmao
Grace I trust you the most which is why this was such a gut-punch. But at least you've managed to guarantee that it will be better than expected because the thought of this movie having a negative impact on WandaVision has sent my expectations to the floor.
"I can't think of a single stand-out action scene in the movie" - Grace. Are you kidding me? I dunno...for me it was a wild ride that I can't imagine any Marvel fan not enjoying.
I think the fact that the movie jumps right in, and we don’t get to see a build up for Wanda being upset is the reason we should watch Wandavision yah? That’s how we are able to reference her anger
it still doesn't make sense coz at the end of WandaVision she had accepted her loss and chose to move on, now all of a sudden she's angrily killing everyone
A lot of reviewers are saying this is a mixed bag movie, not as smart or emotional like a usual MCU big movies and that it seems like a comic book movie from 2003. The rumours about the movie testing bad and large parts of he movie being reshot are true. I think Marvel are best when they have an up and coming director. It seems like all the worst Marvel films are by established directors.

I disagree on almost every point here. The action was phenomenal and these characters were without a doubt at their most powerful here. The acting and effects were fantastic and Raimi's style was perfect for the tone. The one point I will agree on is that it did feel rushed, 20 more minutes would have given a few character moments and plot points more time to breathe.

True. I felt like the movie showed a lot of strengths but was a bit held back because of the run time. Another thing to note is that everyone is riding high off of No Way Home.
"We have no idea how Wanda got to this state." Seriously? That's what Wandavision was all about. My best guess is that Grace isn't taking into account the corrupting power of the Darkhold. Even though it's clearly explained in the movie.
Exactly. This is literally a direct continuation of WandaVision. The Prophecy of the Scarlett Witch was teased all throughout WandaVision as well and maybe the big time Wanda fans just weren’t ready to see this part of her character
After watching the movie, i disagree with you. Wandavision was connected to this. Dont know what you mean. It was a delightful blast. It was so fast pased that i didnt even have time to think about the things i didnt like

Was really disappointed with how they handled Wanda. She had the best development in WandaVision and somehow it was thrown out of the window without any explanation in this movie.
Bruh did you watch the same movie I did? It made perfect sense. The Darkhold corrupts the people that read it, and Wanda already had a LOT of trauma. The whole movie is about Wanda getting back what she lost in the show.

Really wondering if Europe get a different cut or not, if it comes to the graphic/horror part. There were some scenes that were pretty brutal, which are spoilers. But overall I do agree that the movie wasn't as strong as I had hoped. The surprises DID blew my mind tho. I went into the movie without knowing anything about the story, spoilers or rumors.
There was one extremely obvious zoom that for sure cut some really graphic stuff. I noticed it right away and it kinda took me out of the movie for a second. They need to loosen up on ratings and maybe make a movie or two for a more grown up audience.
There was a time were europe, especially the UK or Germany, had a different cuts... but not for movies like Marvel blockbusters... more like Cannibal Holocaust or Metropolis. but today it happens even less and less because of digital distribution and imports of physical copies.
I always appreciate Grace’s takes. But, as always, I take these reviews with a grain of salt. Looking forward to seeing the film. I do believe we overanalyze these projects a bit much
She's not the only one saying this tho I don't agree with alot of her reviews but I think there's merit to this one. I'm gonna lower my expectations. I can already guess by Xavier being in the trailer that the illuminati is gonna have the members from the comics. Even ones we haven't seen on screen before. And they already showed captain Carter's shield and Deadpool in the poster. So they already ruined the cameo hype
You once said that Kevin Feige's plan was to keep the movies "independent", so you don't have to watch the TV Shows, therefore, keeping Wandavision off doesn't sound so odd to me (it doesn't mean it was a good choice tho)
They literally showed most of the movie in trailers. Especially, the Illuminati and Billy and Thommy. “Final trailer” almost every single day with new crucial footage. Like just chill and don’t spoil. I hate how movies just basically show you everything in trailers.
I just got back from seeing the movie, and I liked it a lot personally. There was something I've been waiting to see happen in this that I've wanted for many years and it finally happened in the movie, that's enough for me to be in the top 10 MCU films for me. Yes it isn't perfect, I did want to see more evil Wanda and Multiverse tbh and the runtime definitely could've been pushed forward to 3 hrs instead of 2, but sometimes we don't get that and are left with a directors cut or deleted scenes to see more, overall this film was a mind bender and thrill ride for me, and I can see where Grace is comin from this and I can respect that, we all see films differently
I agree with your review. I just saw it and I have to say, I left the film disappointed. I missed the first 10 minutes but I have to say, the first half is quite amazing and had me thinking: 'This is the one that could be better than 'The Winter Soldier' but then, it lost it. The pace, plot and structure was annihilated. I feel there is an obvious change in director/direction half way through and capped off with the worst mid credit and end credit scenes to date like, they didn't even try.
Why is no one talking about the scene, Where Chavez asked " do you have any experience with the multiverse?" And Dr. Strange says yes the most recent was with Spider-Man? Originally Dr. Strange said "It'll be like you never existed." In Spider-Man No Way Home. But its pretty clear he remembers everything that happened.

I personally love that Wanda is going crazy villain mode here and i dont think that that fact alone dismisses wandavision. I watched your review before watching the film and I am sad to say I agree with a lot of what you said. I still really enjoyed the film, there was much to enjoy. The creativity of the use of magic, Wanda’s action scenes and the some of the style was quirky and different. But the film falls flat and feels like it’s building to nothing, there is not a lot at stake throughout the entire film for the main ensemble cast. The cameos weren’t an issue, I really enjoyed the Illuminati scene. I appreciate that the film drops you right into it but they give you absolutely no explanation that bridges wandavision Wanda to doctor strange 2 Wanda. You just have to accept all this information without an attempt to be explained and just let it be. I will definitely be watching again, there’s some scenes (especially with Wanda) I have to see again!
Just to point out, Wanda accepts her list of vision, it’s literally the point of WandaVision. That’s her development in the show. Bringing him back would undo her growth or more or less making it redundant. I am just going off of what you said as I haven’t watched the movie myself

Maybe i had to many expectations? I mean it’s the Multiverse of madness, they hyped this story up from Wanda/vision, loki and then no way home. Ps: i have no idea why peeps keep saying that Wanda carried the film. Just because she had a lot of screen time does not mean she carried the film. Her part annoyed me to be honest. They could have just kept and finished her story in Wanda/vision. The deus ex machina in this movie is wild. Ps: There are not alot of cameos as you may think, if that Is what yall are expecting. You
I’m not following how Wanda going villain “undoes” Wandavision… WV began with Wanda doing evil out of ignorance, lost in her grief, and ended with her willfully doing evil, delving into the Darkhold, to actively undo her grief. Haven’t seen this yet, but it sounds like we’re just following the arc.
Based on this review and others like it I have decided not to watch this movie in theatres opening weekend. Not because Grace didn't love it. I have very different sensibilities than she does in many respects. But because of it's treatment of Wanda. WandaVision is top tier content and if Wanda's emotional arc in that show is ignored or negated I don't want to see it. More importantly I want to vote with my wallet for things I like: fewer horror elements in the MCU, more obsequious fan service, female characters with realistic emotional arcs and personal agency, etc. As Grace always says, "Money talks." Let's speak.
There is no excuse for this movie to fail. The money, the talent involved… It’s insane to me that we need to LOWER our expectations going in. What the actual F.
@@kidevans1399 Don’t you think though that with a 100+ million dollar project a decent script should be available? Like there should be no question this script is the best of the best?
If the footage exists, there's a possibility for an extended cut. That's all I can say. It's sad that the best MCU material is coming out of the shows and not the movies
@@greygorygaming Not really, the shows are really well made and emotional. The movies just dont have the right directors and writing. Having to drag out the show for at least 4 episodes that cant be explored in a movie.
@@redfielduniverse The shows have turned the characters into parodies with uneven paces and a lot of sitting and talking in rooms. WandaVision was probably the best one (haven't seen Moon Knight) of them and that's not saying much due to all the plot holes and inconsistencies.
After watching Everything Everywhere All at Once, I set my expectations for Dr. Strange 2 very low because I knew this movie would just not be able to hold up a candle to sheer brilliance and magnificence of EEAAO. I'm glad I don't have Disney Plus, so I never watched WandaVision.
I finally got someone who thinks like me except that I had the misfortune of buying all three WV hype and I actually sat and watched the show. Colossal Time waste. Nothing else. I had really hard time finishing last 3 episodes. Skipped some scenes here n there too.
I feel like if Dr. Strange 2 went into character development and DEPTH with both Wanda and Strange, it could very much be EEAO. HOWEVER, one movie I think that did the Multiverse phenomenal and perfect is Spiderverse (we had Peter B. Parker and Miles both learn from each other and have two separate amazing character arcs that we never ever ever see in the MCU).
Yeah for once gotta admit Marvel got beaten to the punch and owned usually they do the owning of DC. Actually thinking about it, they also got owned by DC this year with Moon Knight. Everyone was trying to tell me, see MK its like Batman but way better, its Marvels Batman who hangs out with dopeass Egyptian GODS. I mean kinda but nothing about MK is even close to the latest Batman movie. So MCU definitely slipping lately.
@@Ruddline I've been reading Marvel comics since the 80s and even in the comics, Moon Knight has always been a second/third rate Batman. Marvel movies would never go as dark and gritty as the Joker and Batman films have. Moon Night's Rogues Gallery is a joke.
To be honest I gave up on Kevin Feige direction very early on actually. I find his reasoning for not incorporating certain characters, changing certain characters and storylines that are now plaguing the MCU in some aspects.
Main thing that got me was the fact people who can use magic used cannons and a bows and arrows to try and take down the scarlet witch 🤦🏼♂️😂 like do they not have spells?
Idk what she’s talking bout lol this film was outstanding and sam raimi did a great job directing . Not a soul in my theater laughed at the 3rd act lol . The fact that I’ve seen Wandavision , whatif and loki made this movie fun . I stop taking grace reviews serious a long time ago. Please go see this movie
I have never disagreed so much with a review as this. I thought it was excellent. I think this must be a Grace from another universe giving this review
I thibk It's bcuz they introduced the series into the fold and it's kinda dodgy have all those extra moving parts but just like phase one I think with time it Wil be great
The cameos were only underwelming to people who ride on every rumor for 2 years before the movie comes out. Most people will be thrilled with the few cameos that are in the movie.
This I never believe what the internet say and never get myself over hyped because I don’t listen to a bunch of rumors and shit I remember rumors were we would get different universe versions of marvel characters , like Tom cruise as iron man lol shit just seem wacky
They could’ve still added a variant Vision since the variant Wanda lives on the property he bought. He doesn’t have to be the central focus but it didn’t make sense to me why it was just Wanda
I just finished watching Doctor Strange and I'm very confused by your criticism. This is the best MCU movie I have ever seen. And you say youdidnt understand it ...the whole movie made sense. What's mot to understand? You critics im confused??? Well sit back Grace and watch it blow all box office expectations away. Have a nice day....
SPOILER ALERT! I don't know what movie you were watching then.... Scarlet Witch went from lifting things, energy blasts and mind control on previous movies, to straight up incinerating someone with a flick of her wrist. I'm guessing you don't want to be sensational but c'mon, she was straight up savage in this movie.
@@nomercy4186 I love campiness, especially it almost bring a staple with early superhero movies. It almost is a tribute those old days, it may not work for some but I'm totally here for it.
I think it's time to call out the elephant in the room..Kevin Feige has fumbled Phase 4 of the MCU, so far. I'm looking forward to Thor: Love & Thunder (but honestly, wasn't a huge fan of Ragnarok). I'm more interested in Blade, and whatever they do with X-Men, more than anything, else. This "multiverse" concept sounds more like a gimmick, than something that's going to be vital, going forward. I mean, lets be honest...No Way Home relied on nostalgia, for it's success. It wasn't the movie, itself, but the fact they brought back all of those characters and actors. So, using this "multiverse" concept, to rely on cameos, rather than creating compelling, stories...I can see is going to be an issue and a gimmick that will lose steam, fast. So, Kevin's risky decision -making, with the kinds of films and shows in Phase 4, in terms of quality and expectations, so far...I mean, it's worrying. And, Disney and Marvel should be worried. Argue, if you must, but you can't deny that things with the MCU right now are definitely, in shaky waters, post Endgame/Phase 3. Bring in X-Men, Fantastic 4, etc and maybe, I'd have hope.
Love you Grace & normally I’m in an almost lockstep simpatico with you, but in this case we part ways for a bit. And that’s OK. We can’t always agree on everything! 1) Sam Raimi is perhaps the BEST thing about this film, not the worst. 2) You yourself said this is obviously a cut that has been whittled down, strongly implying the common sense conclusion: this was studio interference/editing to pull back from an R-rating. 3) There were some great action scenes. 4) I was happy this didn’t turn into a cameo fest. That said, I do agree the script is below average. Basically, Raime & the cast clearly did the best they could given some very poorly written scenes/dialogue & a TON of material taken out in the Disneyfication process. The editing & the script ripped out the heart & soul in a presumed quest to get this to a 2hr6min “streamlined” process. It felt like it needed another 30 minutes or so to explore various ideas & it wouldn’t surprise me to find out at least that much is on the cutting room floor. I would love to see the full R or unrated cut if it exists, just to see how good this could be with Raimi unleashed. With all that said, I really liked this movie. Borderline loved it despite the aforementioned issues. I’d call it a satisfying mess that’s a bit too rushed but I ultimately had a ton of fun. I’d give it a solid 8/10 or a B+ if you prefer letter grades.
Raimi hasn't directed a movie since 2013 (Oz and the Great and Powerful)... then the equally missable Drag Me to Hell (2009). His last big movies were Spider-Man 1 to 3 in 2002-7. 15-20 years ago. Hell, I don't know about you, but what I did 15-20 years ago isn't a good indicator of me now. That's how I felt with this movie... the obvious Disney/MCU guardrails were easy to see... because the rest that were Raimi felt like a student film with a horrifyingly big budget. The fact that they greenlit the Fantasia battle makes me also wonder WTF was going on with Disney? And the Bruce Campbell cameo and (spoiler) end credit scene was just ridiculously bad-taste (as an F U Disney)
Thanks Grace for your honest review. I think I'm a bit more forgiving on movies than you, but I'm glad your review has tempered my expectations a bit. I'll wait and see this on Disney+. I waited to see Spider-Man until I could rent it, and I have to say, the movie was over-hyped, but It was a fun movie that my family and I enjoyed watching together. I suspect I'll just enjoy this Dr. Strange movie for what it is.
Covid/Pandemic is out here clouding Feigie’s mind. 😭 I’m disappointed to hear so much negativity towards the film but I’m still excited to see it. Hopefully the Wanda Stan’s calm down about “Mother” seeing as she won’t be fully realized and not unleashing complete potential.
Wanda Vision did well to set her up as a villian so makes sense to me if she is just that in movie. The movie not explaining why she became such a villian seems to me that yes you indeed do need to watch the D+ shows to understand the movies.
That’s the thing, they did well to set her up as a villain. Yet the movie doesn’t deliver that. As grace said, she didn’t feel ‘ all powerful’. Anticlimactic as hell too.
So, Multiverse of Madness by reshoot is just Feige, _by comity._ I heard someone say that a camel is a horse made by a comity. This could be what’s happening. There’s a lot we don’t know when it comes to non-disclosure agreements. Companies make confusing choices, but it’s weird to see Disney doing the same thing. I personally don’t feel Feige lost his touch, you can’t lose something that’s not apart of you to begin with. I’ll probably enjoy myself, but from what you described there’s a good chance _there was a lot of executive meddling in the end product._ Great Stuff as always.
