Hi Dr V I was in the shop and I believe the products that always have alcohol in them is toners. Though as you mentioned not all alcohols are bad. I also discovered on ChatGpt the ingriedients that I provided that it won't say alcohol however there are emollients in them. Good alcohols such as Butylene Glycol is found in Cetaphil Brightness Radiance Toner. Here are some toners I discovered in South Africa while shopping Eucerin Derma clean (hyaluron) Eucerin Derma Purifier (alcohol denat) LaRoche Effaclar Eau micellaire LaRoche eau micellaire ultra Cetaphil bright healthy radiance H20 boost Avene cleanance eau micellaire Here are some other brands but I didn't get an opportunity to write it down. Vichy, Neutrogena. Would be great if you can make a video on toners with regards to these brands as there is not a lot of information out there on RU-vid specifically obtaining to toners on the brands mentioned above. Always appreciate your honest reviews on products. Thanks for the inspiring education content.

I just know Denatured alcohol and "ethanol" is bad and Cetyl, stearyl and cetearyl alcohols are good for hydration which I see in a lot of creams. Awesome video, very informative. Almost every Japanese sunscreen has denatured alcohol in it, no one wonder they have such a lovely texture that sinks in without a trace.... but at a cost. I didn't know they increase active penetration though, very interesting. I can see why some serums might use it. I used to use Japanese sunscreens for years until I learned only in like 2020 that all the alcohol in them is bad for skin, so I stopped using Japanese sunscreens now.

Everyone has their opinion, and respect to that. But tons of other dermatologists have stated that these “bad” alcohols you point out are not the devil. The drying effect can be combatted if the product also has humectants like glycerin in it. Just because it has alcohol denat in it, doesn’t mean you should automatically discard it. Example: the Kose Suncut UV perfect Gel has alcohol denat in it and it is awesome, not drying at all. They balanced it with other moisturizing factors.

Are any of these doctors people of color? Chemically, those “bad” alcohol binds to humectants and evaporated them. That’s the nature of those alcohol. You can’t change its chemistry. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be alcohol.

Hello Dr V, Happy that your collagen boost has finally been released..!! However I have a lot of doubts now that I want to incorporate it in my everyday diet. Is your collagen boost a supplement for protein drinks unlike the others in the market. If not to what extent can you ignore your protein drinks when you are regularly using the collagen boost. How can we incorporate both for fitness purposes. And also please differentiate between a typical protein drinks and a traditional collagen drink. Further what happens when we consume all the other supplements in it even when we are having a balanced diet. Can we actually consume supplements on a regular basis continuously. Is there no chance of overdosing on any of it if done so..? Moreover, can you make a video how everything in the collagen boost actually helps your skin and hair (what each ingredient does for skin and hair separately to improve it). Additionally also please inform us regarding various nutrients important for healthy hair growth (for different hair issues and depletion of hair quality with age) Had an out of the box question: Is biotin actually an essential supplement for goid hair or is it just a myth...? If yes can you please include it in the collagen boost drink. I also wanted to request you to not actually discontinue the antioxidant power serum with retinyl palmitate so that youngsters who don't yet need a high dose retinol can use this. On the other hand you can release the stronger version separately saying 'super antioxidant power serum' so that people with more tolerance and the elderly can benefit from it. It took me a while to figure out that my skin HATES fatty alcohols. I break out badly if they are in my skincare and get rashes or body acne (which I am NOT naturally prone to) if they are in my body care products. Needless to say, all of my moisturizers are now gel only and my body products are FA-free. Plenty of other people say they have this issue as well. Just because something is deemed 'natural' or 'safe' doesn't mean it is for everyone.

Thank you for this video! I had to buy a skincare product today and it had cetyl alcohol and I nearly cried because I thought it's a bad product. So with alcohol denate, is there absolutely no way to reverse the damage caused by it? Also, if possible, please may you do a video on Blackhead Salicylic acid cleanser that are good and not good - my dermatologist always recommends it but I can only find ones that either have alcohol denate or fragrance in them 😀

Can you do a video on essential oils and hidden fragrance? I have seen products that say no synthetic fragrance added but then I look at the list and I see loads of flower and plant oils/extracts and it feel like it maybe problematic ingredients hiding in plain sight, but I don’t know for sure.

I'm trying to find a good suncreen too as someone who has acne prone skin. I had colour science which I thought was a good one but the vitamin e in there is causing clogged pores and more breakouts. Most that say that they are non comedogenic are not when I use this online checking system to check. So I'm still on the search too

Hello Dr V, Thank you for your videos! I am currently trying to come up with a nite time routine for my skin. I have oily skin in the summer, I get light acne and I have a lot of hyperpigmentation. I want to start using 2% Alpha Arbutin at night but I want to use a retinol in this routine as well. Can you tell me what retinol would be best for this routine?? And where should I layer it?? Here's the layering routine list I came up with.. 1) Simply Cleanser 2) 2% Alpha Arbutin 3) Niacinamide 4) Vitamin c (not the high concentration) 5) Light Moisturizer - CeraVe or Rosehip oil **I also plan on using the Azelaic Acid with a Salicylic Cleanser on the weekends to tackle the acne

Hey Dr.V I came across you lactic acid for SOC and have some questions I found one from the brand Deconstruct in India...it is 5% Lactic, 1.5% probiotic and 1% HA 1. Can I use that once a week on my dry skin in winter and normal to oily skin in summer? 2. Does anyone think its better to stick to same moisturiser after first time using it? Just finished Neutrogena hydroboost gel cream. Highly recommended, its very good. I did wanna try another moisturiser since it contains aloe vera 😍, but i dont wanna have to go through purging again.
