A good statement, that one in the end. As I've always stated, the worst enemy of the show are fans themselves, along with their three capital sins: the selective memory, the double standard, and the philosophy of _"let's pretend this thing I didn't like never actually happened"_ so abused since the days of Robert Holmes (so much so some of them actually tend to invoke reboots of the show because they wish a different take). Same thing goes with the writers: instead of dealing with the past in order to build a future, they simply tend to ignore it pretending some things never occured at all. That's why I appreciate the Timeless Child concept: it alone basically resolves almost every single ignored lore point and inconsistency about the Doctor in the Classic Era giving a "believable" explanation to it, without going against the New Era stuff. The times the Doctor stated to have a different age from the one they have previously stated? Unconscios memories from their hidden past. The flashbacks of past incarnation before the Hartnell one during the mind battle with Morbius? Forgotten memories breafly resurfacing. The clear hints about the ancient past of the Doctor from _"Remembrance of the Daleks"_ and _"Silver Nemesis"_ ..? Same thing. It's a perfect catch-all justification that unifies those points, instead of continuing to pretend they've never existed. As for the character of the Doctor, I blame the writers for the continuous perpetration of the idea the Doctor is always the same ( _"same software, different hardware"_ ), despite the changes among incarnations, when what is actually presented on screen shows us a completely different story. The only aspects that remain unaltered through the different incarnations (as pointed out by yourself in this video) are: the desire to save lives, to repair wrongs, and to discover new people and worlds. That's it. After every regeneration, we see the Doctor not just with a different face but also with different approaches, tastes and even morality values. Just think about the Fourth Doctor with the Seventh Doctor in regard to eradicate Daleks once and for all: the first one refused to do so in _"Genesis of the Daleks"_ because of his moral values, while the second one is perfectly fine with the idea in _"Remembrance of the Daleks"_ (to the extend to force the last surviving Dalek to end itself). Just look how the different incarnations of the Doctor approach each others in _"The Three Doctors"_ , _"The Five Doctors"_ , _"The Two Doctors"_ , _"Time Crash"_ , _"The Day of the Doctor"_ and _"Fugitive of the Judoon"_ : they talk and interact with each other as if they were different people, old friends, rather than themselves (despite the effort from the writers part to conflate that character approach with jokes and catch-phrases to show otherwise - like the _"Same software, different hardware"_ bit or even the _"same brain"_ dialogue). The day fans will take the show as an all and not just as the bits and pieces they like, and writers will stop enforcing this false idea of the Doctor as "the same person", that will be a great step in the right direction to keeping the show in good shape.
