I love that the Master returned on the 10th anniversary of The End of Time, Part 2 (that episode also had the Master in it).

To be honest, I really like the new Master!! The actor who plays him seems to capture the atmosphere of the character pretty well! And also I actually liked the episode itself, it was sort of better than the whole of season 11 all together, in my opinion.

Can honestly say that the master made it an overall good episode. He’s a very quirky master and definitely insane.

The Master is The Doctor’s friend. BUT they are also rivals and he loves The Doctor so much that he wants to kill him! (Well, this round, her). Hey, they are Time Lords, displaying emotions is complex as hell with them.

I actually liked the Master reveal, sure they dip into the Master well a bit but they definitely needed a wildcard for this. And Missy died 2 and a half years ago so I don't think it's too soon, they need someone to actually challenge Whittaker's Doctor

Don't you just love not knowing things? Welcome back, guys! You got soon to this party! I feel you guys, it's strange to get a new Master chapter right away when so much has been built in terms of Missy's continuity and where we were heading to. But I'm all in for Sacha Dhawan, he has that Ainley/Simm vibe - destructive, classy, chaotic with a spark of something more sinister. Not sure if they're going back to "dangerous flirting" or if this Master is in for ruthless vengeance. I'm not sure how the pieces will fit into this puzzle. Rule 1 of espionage - don't trust anyone. If the Master didn't intend to kill the Doctor, we can assume something different about that final advice. I think it's the Master to some capacity (he's a narcissist), but I also feel there's some bluff coming. P.S: Btw, I just noticed that when Stephen Fry gets shot, he says "O!" ;)

Hate to say that it is the Master, he always has escaped death in one way or another in the show over the years, with no explanation on how where and when. Loved the way he has played the character.

"Everything you think you know is a lie" ok I really hope that this deals with her past. Galifrey? The time lords? Her family? Previous companions? If multiple earth are involved, what if we see rose? What about the timeless child thing from last season? I'm being really hopeful but there's so much they could do when they have this huge of a first episode 😄

NOT A SPOILER - just reading between the lines... Sacha Dhawan's master either came a) between Eric Roberts and Derek Jacobi (hence the tissue compression) and wasn't a true regeneration so much as identity theft b) actually came BEFORE Roger Delgado's Master...hence having to read up on the Doctor (most of his research look to have been in old books) My guess is this version of the Master is from earlier in his time stream and he isn't meeting the Doctors in the same order we are.

Watching the Master pretend to be O now that i know it's him , i can't help but grin. The Master was ever so crafty and clever.

I think this Master is between John SIMM and Michelle Gomez. Missy’s Death felt final so i hope they don’t say she regenerated. I think it’s more likely that Simm regenerated and turned into this Master.. hopefully we will know on Sunday :)

The Multiverse may explain why there is a reset on _The Master._ And I was thinking as you were ─ that it's a way in for previous Doctors to show up. I had hoped that when they made the switch to a female Doctor, they would have gotten an actor with more _gravitas._ I'm trying to think of what actor would have worked for me. _Dame Judi Dench_ perhaps? _Olivia Colman? Helena Bonham Carter?_ Okay, okay, those are, admittedly, pretty unrealistic. But since I'm in the unrealistic part of this wishlist, my ultimate would have been _Tilda Swinton_ (but I *do* have an ultimate selection at the end of the more realistic list below). Alright. . .perhaps more realistically: _Kristin Scott Thomas. Joanna Lumley_ . . .and yes, _Dawn French_ comes to mind. But if I absolutely *had to pick **_one_* actor that might conceivably take on the role for a season or three, it would be _Tracey Ullman._ Thank you for indulging me. Sometimes one has to vent a little. I _really_ wanted this switch to a female Doctor to work. Unfortunately, it doesn't for me. There didn't seem to be a strong _reason_ for the sex change beforehand, and none of the stories afterwards identify a reason after the fact either. If it had been reversed, like if a previous incarnation was one of color but then regenerated into a caucasian Doctor and said that. . .Or a female Doctor turned into a male and said that, it wouldn't be acceptable. So, why is it acceptable here? Sadly, I'm really not happy with the new show overall. I simply come away after each episode feeling _"it is just _*_not_*_ Doctor Who."_ And this is coming from a guy who has watched since the 70s (and of course went back and watched the earlier ones when they were available in the 80s). So, I've seen a lot of drastic changes, but they all still _felt like_ Doctor Who to me. I'm left feeling not as excited beforehand, nor feeling as satisfied afterwards. The Doctor's reactions to things seem to follow a very typical *human* female trope portrayal: Open mouthed, wide-eyed, _"Oh, no! Something's happening! Whatever shall we do?!"_ Again, it leaves me feeling unenthusiastic before each episode, and dissatisfied after. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ By the way, the _Master_ reveal was spoiled for me 5 minutes before the in-screen reveal, because I looked up the actor to see if I had forgotten him in a previous episode. But, along with that spoiler, I did learn that he actually wanted to play the Doctor. And I feel he had the potential to be a really good one. . .but his _Master_ was charismatic. *Addendum:* My dream casting has always been comedian _Dylan Moran._ Unfortunately, even if he were to play the part, I would always want him to be the Doctor with the attitude of Bernard Black, his character from _Black Books._

Haha... washbag! 'Snap!' also my fave line. But yeah the twist reveal kinda undoes the Capaldi era for me and a bit too soon but i guess its to try bring this series back on track. Otherwise i enjoyed the episode

my idea with this is that, due the fact that when they had the map of where all the glowy things are(?) there were multiple earths, so maybe it’s an au!master that met the simm!master or Missy (or both) in this universe somehow and they were like ‘you wanna have fun? mess with this dude it’s real fun we’ve been doing it for years’ and this master was like ‘aight fair i’m bored let’s go’

That reveal at the end, totally a surprise. The way they let the mystery build around Missy over several episodes made her reveal hit with so much more weight. I look forward to seeing what happens next though.

I think it's an early version of the master. A Classic Who incarnation that got lost in the shuffle.

I have to say I like this premiere more than the premiere of last season

If it’s not really the Master, could it be a play on “O”? Omega? The Other? Order of the Black Sun? Just fishing...

I'm wondering if: 1) This is a Past Version of The Master (as to not undo a lot of what went with the Capaldi Era); this would make sense, considering the use of the Tissue Compression Eliminator. A Pre-Yana version? 2) If this is a current version of the Master, could that last line be his way of indicating maybe he's a double agent, working against the aliens. This would make sense, considering the oddness of their weapons transporting The Doctor and Yaz instead of killing them.

I'm actually the opposite on this. I want it to actually be the Master but the "everything is a lie" theme would suggest it might not be. As you said every Doctor (almost) has had one and Sacha Dhawan has showed through the switch at the end of the episode he has what it takes. Overall though this was a strong episode and Whittaker's best performance outside of Rosa and Kerblam!

Trust the writers, Jodies, next Season 3 was written a year ago. It;s a long process, writing scripts. Love the James Bond twist. And yes, The Master is back, Or forward, or behind. We all of us know, The Doctor will almost win--even on the line that 'Everything you know is untrue' The theme began with the cloth creatures in Ghost Monument, "The Timeless Child, lost and abandoned." A clear reference to the Master from his Professor guise (see Utopia) I've watched it all of my life. Won't miss it. I'm a writer/author, but Ive avoided scripting a 'Who' episode. I'd rather clutch onto my cushions and just enjoy the thrill of it as I did as a child. Magic is MAGIC. Long may it last. (love your You Tube and your enthusiasm. The master acting was good.

Watching your videos is my favourite part of watching Dr who!!!! I really didn’t like his interpretation of the master. Plus, I feel like we need to lose a character because there are just so many people we need to keep up with we still don’t get to see a lot of character development. Plus a main character death would be a good story line.

If you're like me you love second part as much as first part. funny and scary my grandchildren and I loved it let's hope she gets even better. And to newspapers give her a chance to grow. I think the other creatures from the parallel universe remind me of the 4 5 6 in Torchwood children of earth and the 4 5 6 would have had chance to change And evolve. Time whymy should be able to save Jack and Torchwood . I think that the creatures could be responsible for gallifrey???

Finally a good episode in a long time

If you watch the episode from the beginning with the knowledge that O is the master it makes you wonder how he could let someone working for him be so powerful. I suspect that the black guy is the Ronnie and we are supposed to not think about the gender switch because the master is back.

I had this theory that this was the Master in between Missy and Simm's Master. I think the Master had said he had one regeneration before Missy so it very well could be a Master right before she became a good.

While the writing continues to be mediocre and Jodie continues to be annoying one thing I will say is that Sacha Darwan was awesome, the way he slowly turned from timid and human to manic and mastery was .... well masterful .... ugh that was an awful joke 🤦‍♂️, also my theory is that this is the incarnation of the master just before the time war happens and after before the war ends he runs away and becomes the Professor seen in Utopia with David Tennant thus setting up the Harold Saxon incarnation 🤷‍♂️

It isn't just 2 episodes. It is a whole new season btw guys.

I think he is the Master between John Simm and Michelle Gomez - as John Simm had a TARDIS last time we saw him and so does this Master and then afterwards he becomes missy. Otherwise her story arc doesn’t make sense becoming him.

Sadly, I think it's a straight-up Master ploy. Just like the Dalek from the last special, they're pulling out the fan-favourite villains to try and call back the old fans who were disappointed by the last series. Honestly, I'm not holding out hope that this season will be much better, but who knows?

Finally, Doctor Who is Doctor Who again. After a very disappointing (and boring) season they bring us a very incredible episode, which is a huge improvement to what we saw in Series 11, this, THIS is what you should have been last season : Yaz finally feel like a real character and not a extra, a foe that gives a presence of danger, a massive plot twist that really did not see coming but above all, that this was incredibly entertaining, God, is that i end the episode with a huge smile on my face, i really hope that all the series 12 is maintained (or at least close) to this level of quality. P.S. I really love the Master's version of Sacha Dhawan.

i am going with yes... and no. although it is possible for time lords to take others faces as we saw with capaldi they don't normally have that much control. i think it's a clone or a robot being controlled by the master. this is james bond, the master is blofeld, remember the blofeld doubles in diamonds are forever?

What was that. Guns & 'splosions & car car chases! Felt like the worst aspects of Torchwood when it took US money and made a US show. Bullets only hitting headlights. Hope this isn't what we have now, especially considering it took an amazing existing story line and completely undid it with this episode. FFS!

S11 We want new aliens. Ok cool you got it. This season is lackluster. S12 Here's The Master. I don't like it. I loved the reveal. I think it's what the show needed. We are still getting new things, but the Master provides the intensity the show was missing. Plus Missy died three years ago now and had her redemption arc.

this episode was like watching a children's play, the acting is terrible.

Too soon? It's been nearly 13 years since Professor Yana revealed, "I. Am. The Master..." John Simm couldn't carry the role that RTD also didn't know how to write, and as for Missy...whoever she was or wtf Moffat intended her to be...she was no Delgado or even Jacobi. This new guy shows great promise though. I hope he's more than just a Davros/Stolen Earth style two-parter one shot! And please, lets not have him follow the "Doctors Greatest Frenemy" path. There should be no love lost here. The Doctor might be a bit soft where he is concerned, but The Master? The only thing he holds close to his heart should be a little matchbox with the Doctors name on it
