Christopher Eccleston was the *only* person for the job of kick starting Doctor Who. He will *always* have a special place in your heart.

Fair warning: The fandom is very bad about spoiling things because they like to "educate" you and because they want to talk about things that are coming up and think they are cleverly avoiding spoiling things, as if you won't be able to figure them out.

It's almost been 4 whole years but I still absolutely LOSE MY MIND over Shayla's phrasing of "I don't want him to go!"

Christopher is definitely underrated because he didn't have a long run. He portrayed a great doctor that just came from killing his entire race. He had that anger and guilt in him but at the end of the day he was still the doctor. Tennant made the show popular in the UK and Matt Smith made the show popular in America, that's why you usually hear about them more. Amazing reaction I'm really glad you're enjoying the show.

Tennant is a lot of people's favorite Doctor...but definitely not everyone's. No one Doctor is objectively better than the others

Yeah, people always assumed that Tennant would be my favourite too, or they kept telling me before I watched the show, that I would like him the best and then Smith, but Eccleston was and still is my favourite Doctor. Season one is the best season for me.

Loved your reaction! This is one of my absolute favourite finales on the show, it's so iconic to me! You don't hear a lot about Christopher, in comparison to the other Doctor's, quite possibly because he was only in one series, but he is still very much loved!

Christopher is generally really loved and I'm so pleased that you point out how amazing he is here, but because he's only in the one season he is often not talked about a lot. He's magnificent though, and Matt and Peter are also wonderful, you'll enjoy them all I think

Christopher was my favorite until 12. Still, there was just something special about 9 that was so very special. Him and Rose are amazing together.

Eccleston was great and I enjoyed his work on series one, but of the new Doctors my favorite so far is Capaldi. Of the classics, my favorite is still the third (Jon Pertwee) even though the vast majority of classic series fans pick Tom Baker (Doctor Number 4), who was also brilliant, but just not my favorite. Look in the end of the day, there have been NO bad Doctors. They're all great in their own ways. To quote the Doctor's old friend the Brigadier "Wonderful chaps...All of them!" As to the Daleks, they've been coming and going from Doctor Who since 1963! You can never count them out for good. They always find a way to return. As long as a few Daleks survive somewhere in the Universe, they'll always be back someday. They are the Doctor's oldest foe.

I think the lack of Eccleston popularity is because he was only around for one season.

That first Dalek episode did such a good job of setting up how terrifying one was. And then they send them out in thousands

11:15 People don't talk about Chris Eccleston because he fell out with the producers/BBC, there was some bad blood so he left, he was supposed to stay on. Russel T Davies was keen on using Chris when he brought the series back from the BBC's mothballs. Chris Eccleston is a fantastic actor and it's a shame he didn't stay on, I would recommend watching him in his other roles.

Eccleston is my favorite Doctor and Series 1 is my second favorite season out of Series 1-10.

OMG I just found your videos, and getting to watch someone react to the series from the beginning of the reboot, for the very first time, in this year of our Lord 2018, is an INSTANT SUB from me! 😆 I may not be able to experience the shocks and horrors and awes the same way as the first time ever again, but it sure is fun to watch someone else go through it!

Eccleston is from my hometown and has a special place in my heart, I was 5 when season 1 ended and never mentally recovered 😭😂 same with the season 4 finale.... and Matt Smith 😂😭

I'm so happy to see people watching the Doctor I grew up with for the first time (aside from episodes of Pertwee and Baker I watched with my Grandpa when I was really little). It makes me feel like I've finally reached elder nerd status XD

My two favorite doctors were Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi. There at the total ends of the spectrum, and that is what makes me love them so much

Fun fact; this episode's title "Parting of the Ways", comes from the second to last chapter of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the film of which features David Tennant in a significant, if not particularly long role (the character has a big role but the part when he's being played by David is fairly small ). Even more fun fact, in early to mid 2005 when doing a press tour for said film, he was apparently quoted as saying he'd probably never be part of a franchise with such a large fandom ever again!

In fact the 2005 Children In Need Special (5 minutes long) comes next BEFORE 'The Christmas Invasion'. It's sometimes called 'Born Again' and you can find it on youtube. You will want to see it as it's a pretty important 'missing scene' between the end of that episode and 'The Christmas Invasion'.

Christopher doesn't get as much love because he was only the Doctor for 1 series. I love them all for different reasons. They're all so different, and yet they're always the Doctor.

I love Tennant as the Doctor but overall he sits around 7th on my Favorite Doctors list. The 9th Doctor holds a special place for me. He's tied for 3rd overall with Jon Pertwee, the 3rd Doctor. I discovered your channel early into your 11th Doctor reactions and I'm now working my way back through from the beginning. I'm enjoying every moment.

A few reasons why most people don't talk about Eccleston. 1) He only had one season. Those who came in late to Dr Who tend to forget him because he only had one season. 2) Christopher only wanted one season (even though he killed it SO HARD). 3) There ended up to be bad blood between Christopher and the showrunners, for some reason. That may have left a bad taste in some people's mouths. Now Christopher is a true professional and didn't talk smack about it. He was actually promoting the show quite well when it was out. But things just didn't work out. 4) Other doctors are younger and they appeal more to the target audience. Now I'm old school. I've watched the bulk of the original series. So I speak with a bit more authority and gravitas when I say that Christopher Eccleston is my number one favorite Doctor, followed closely by Peter Capaldi. Those are the Doctors that when they get mad, I get WORRIED. When Tennant and Smith get mad, it's like watching puppies get angry. They're just so CUTE! When Eccleston and Capaldi get mad, it's like watching military trained dogs been told to attack!

Chris was the only one who could have brought Doctor Who back, no-one else. I couldn't believe it when you said you "don't want him to go". You'll like it when Captain Jack returns (although he is in Torchwood first).

I've been waiting for this episode since you began reacting! Ecclestone laid the foundation that the others built on. IMO, without him the series would not have been the success it became. In a way, the show partly re-invents itself with each new Doctor so be prepared for some changes in tone and style. I don't have a favorite Doctor; I've been watching the show since 1963 and I love them all.

maybe people don´t speak much about Eccleston today, but he was "the first" for a new generation, and loved my many. I love him to bits. The later Doctors get more than one season to shine, and therefore making more impact I guess. But I´m right there with you, I love Chris!

Oh man!! Watching Christopher Eccleston again is making me so emotional! It's okay to get teary Shayla, it was so sad to see him go after one season! He will always be my first! My experience with getting into doctor who was a little weird. My best friend had asked me if i ever seen it, and id never even heard of doctor who at the time so i thought he was talking about doctor suess, so i was like "yeah of course", and so he ended up putting on silence of the library on and i ended up loving the show and went to watch it from the beginning of nuwho. So my first doctor was tennant, and then i went to eccleston, but my favorite doctor ended up being neither of them. My favorite doctor actually became peter capaldi. Dont get me wrong i love the others ot course, 10 will always be special for bringing me into the show, 9 will always be special for being my first real experience with doctor who, but 12 ended up being MY doctor.

Christopher Eccleston refused to have anything else to do with Doctor Who after his one and only year of doing the show, he has done Audio Books with his voice since he said this but still refuses to appear in person on the show and at conventions as he said he did not want to be Type cast as The Doctor

Great reaction. No idea who'll be your favourite but _no_ Doctor is everyone's, we all find our own. If you learn only one thing about "Doctor Who" fans it should be that the only thing we all agree on is that we can't all agree on anything ;).

They didn't actually test or audition anybody else for the role of the Tenth Doctor - it was offered straight to Tennant, mostly because the two executive producers had recently worked with him on the costume drama Casanova.

You should add Torchwood to your viewing. I see that you have already seen further, and Captain Jack had an offshoot show that I think you would love. It's too late, but I know one reaction channel timed the shows so they matched up with a couple crossovers. But again that's too late for you, but still should be watched.

Eccleston did such a great job it's a real shame that in the end of the day he was (apparently) never fully happy with his work here. Judging from interviews he did years later, he was apparently uncomfortable with the character and felt it wasn't his sort of thing, that plus his disagreements with the production team spelled an early exit for him. And he's been so averse to further involvement with the show since that he's never done convention appearances or signings. It's a real shame.

Christopher Eccleston is my favourite He is a true actor. Like in that scene 2:41 the sadness on his face, you just feel it. And the end scene brings a tear to my eye. Nothing magnificent happening or no glorious music, just Christopher Eccleston's acting. He was fantastic as the Doctor. It's dangerous to say something and try to speak for the whole Doctor Who fandom (almost as dangerous as trying to pass off your opinion as fact in the Star Wars fandom, or the Star Trek fandom... arguments WILL ensue, for anyone who tries to do that...), I will however, voice my opinion on your point of "why the fandom don't talk about Christopher Eccleston's Doctor all that much. I think (opinion!), I think, maybe people don't talk about him all that much for a few reasons: He was only in one season and left due to creative differences, the first season is comparatively less "envolved" as the latter ones (meaning, less of a budget, less of an emotional impact perhaps, less time to really grow attached to this Doctor... maybe had he been given a 2nd season, things would have been different, who knows...), point is, I think (again, opinion, not fact), people don't talk about it all that much simply because, after season 1, there is a WHOLE LOT MORE that comes along, that is, comparatively speaking, more discussion worthy. Even though there is no denying the importance that this season has for everything that follows.

After that, you grow to LOVE the Doctor, and aftet that, he Regenerates... And then you're back to Square One... The reason why you don't hear a lot about Christopher Eccleston is bacause of the amount of screen time Tennant and Smith got. Besides, Nine was the ONLY Doctor (at least from New Who) to leave due to a "fight" with the BBC. HELLO, TEN! The reason people think that you will like Tennant more is probably due to a relation between Nine and Ten: Nine had just come back from the War, and was dealing with his entire race being gone... He was the Doctor who tried to distance himself from others. After he met Rose, however, he started opening up again, and decided to change into a younger man for her, and thus Ten became the Doctor who let himself love again... So yeah. That might be why! Here it is! Bad Wolf explained! This is the kind of thing that made me stick with this Show. Those Twists! Buckle up, Doll! There's a LOT more to come! Can't wait for the Christmas Special tomorrow! I dont know how someone could play a role so well then hate it and want to leave. a second season with Christopher would have been excellent and then the BBC didnt help by basically black listing him for refusing to do more than 1 season when he felt and rightfully so that he resurrected this show. So when the big anniversary came up they wanted to get Christopher back but he was still so bitter that we had to invent this "War Doctor" to take his place
