I assume its not a coincidence that the toymaker manifest and creates the giggle in 1925 and the maestro also manifests in 1925.

i DID see a video showing they both came out in 1925, and I didn't even realize that! So whatever 14 did at the edge of the Universe gave an entrance to the Pantheon in 1925!

I just came to say, that wonderful creature playing The Maestro is Jinkx Monsoon. Artist, singer, musician, actor, drag artist extraordinaire. After winnining Rupaul's Drag Race, she toured with her live show. Was on Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors, etc. Jinks really is an amazing talent.

Ya I had never heard of her, but was surprised at the fanbase she had! And this role was MADE for her! Its like I hate to see The Doctor scared, but damn every time Maestro was on screen she was just using every inch of her space to make that character more boisterous and intimidating...I can't wait to see more from her!

@DFQreacts That's actually the title used for that All Winners season. It was the very first All Winners, and it was last year as well. Her OG season was Season 5 back in 2013. We are on Season 16 now.

The Song "There's always a Twist in the end" may be referring to an actor called Susan Twist. Who has appeared in 4 episodes, Wild Blue Yonder as Newton's Maid, The Church On Ruby Road as a heckler in the crowd at Ruby's show, Space Babies as one of the officers signing off and in The Devil's Chord as one of the tea ladies. certainly something to look for in upcoming episodes.

Also Maestro said 'there's a song hidden' inside Ruby. Could she possibly mean a River Song.... or a Pond?' And continuing with the watery themes, we also have Mrs Flood.

Enjoyed your reaction. Really liked this episode too including Maestro and I'm intrigued by the connection to the Toymaker. Thought the song at the end was just a meta comment on the musical nature of the episode, the nature of the story being told, and possibly the importance of the characters being played by the actress Susan Twist who appears as a cafeteria worker in this one. Looking forward to your reaction to Boom!

AliceReacts explained that there was a MYTH in the Middle Ages that musicians were forbidden by the Church from using a tritone or sharpened fifth (I think it actually is a diminished or flatted fifth) because of the dissonant, demonic tone it made, thought of as the Devil's interval. (That opening scene should have made that more clear). It's worth checking out his video. So this is yet another myth brought into reality. So I think Ruby is a mythological character like a Goddess or some fairy tale character. My theory is Susan Foreman is the One Who Waits.

Oh I LOVE his Doctor Who reactions! He's on my constant rotation once a new episode drops! lol I haven't seen that one yet as I try not to watch any reactions for a show I'm currently watching so I don't inadvertently take something from them, but once the season finishes up I'm gonna binge him and a few different other reactors! That's a very interesting theory, because she has been waiting a LONG time lol

He. He did the thing... (insert owl saying who) and current theory, the one who waits is related to the toymaker and harbinger. H.arbinger was the son of Maestro, grandkid of the toymaker, so if my theory is right then its a family theme for the season (or daddy issue theme.)

"How does that note/tone banish them?" It's rumpelstiltzkin rules. A 'magical' creature can be summoned and unsummoned with magic words (or magic music in this case). Aka these celestials seem to be bound by a type of fairy tale logic

Also when the Toymaket was defeated his essence stuck around a bit so the doctor could claim 'a prize' for winning (he used that to duplicate the tardis) so i think in this case this musical dance number at the end was the doctor's prize for winning in this encounter

That does fit, but I still think there's something larger that we're not seeing, possibly universally big. The Toymaker's essence was still 'in play' because a prize wasn't awarded, but there was nothing like that for The Maestro...plus the look the Doctor gave the TARDIS before going back into EMI...idk, I think we're in for a massive reveal coming up!

I don't know if it was mentioned but the actress who plays Mrs Flood is Brian May's wife and she's already started on going to conventions. Doctor Who is a thing of its own. Great reaction. Hannibal the series and Dead Boy Detectives are my favourites to watch at the moment

Basically they are concepts and bound to their respective concept. the toymaker needs to be beaten in a game. Music needs to played 'the right way', etc.. It would be interesting to explore how they came into being, like who imposed those restrictions onto them. Not sure if this is official but I heard that the ending was meant to imply that some rest energy of the maestro is still remaining, like when the Dr. used rest energy from toymaker to split the Tardis after he was defeated. Either way it was poorly communicated in the episode and most people are confused by it I suppose.

Ya I can definitely see that, I would hope theres a bigger meaning to it- but it could just be that reward system or residual energy...and that could be the One Who Waits, perhaps? Haha, thats that basis for being a Doctor Who fan- wishing it was explained better, but just accepting what we get lol, its a hazard of the Fandom!

My first episode I watched was in Oct 2013. I watched all of NuWho until after the 50th movie came out. Matt Smith's regen was my first LIVE episode, and then it took until Feb 29 2014 to finish all of Classic

@DFQreacts Yeah, I actually liked him immediately, and that was unusual for me at the time. He's the epitome of what Doctor Who is. The 6th Doctor Who is the same to me, as the Capaldi take was ahead of its time back then but was misunderstood for a while. Colin Baker is actually a favourite for many fans these days with his 6th Doctor Who so in the end it is a shame the BBC Controller back then tried to sabotage him. He was signing on to do even more seasons than Tom Baker. The storyline was Doctor Who regenerates into this unhinged crazy uncaring Time Lord (due to 5th forcing a regeneration when he shouldn't have) that changed back to who he was right before regenerating. I imagine Sasha Master did the same thing as Missy and forced a regen as 5th died the same way.

I reckon that whole musical number was the “prize” for banishing Maestro. 14 and 15 got their prize for defeating the Toymaker in a game, and so the defeat of Maestro allowed for music to return and for a whole uplifting musical number to happen. The twist definitely must’ve been Harbinger’s appearance, and I reckon there’s some foreshadowing going on as well.

That's an interesting thought! But I don't know if Maestro would give an award for beating them like the Toymaker...there's obvious rewards for games, but for music i don't know. Sure it was a 'Music Battle' but i still can't shake the feeling there's something bigger still at play, but damn that's a good thought!

I love love love that ending! 🎉 There are 3 twists at the end, and you could argue 4. Harbinger in 1963 survived from 1925; the base dance in the number was the Twist, the musical number itself which hasn't happened before. The other could be Susan Twist who keeps appearing in each episode....

I think they are hammering in theres a twist at the end. I think the twist is the one who waits is Missy since the red nails picked up the Master tooth at the end of the Giggle and that Missy is the last regeneration of the Master and this is the start of Missy's story and then in 12 era is the end so Sacha regenerate from Simms and then Sacha to Missy. In the Giggle the Toymaker said that he messed with the Doctor's past so i think they are retconning the Timeless Child as the Doctor's history was changed by the Toymaker in canon and that is the reason they are breaking the 4th wall because it is retconning IN universe not just the writers.

Very interesting thought on the timeline of Missy, because people do tend to forget theres a lot of time the Master is alone doing...Master-y things. I do have another theory that I will be talking about in the next reaction, so I wonder what you'll think of that.

Ncuti and Millie are excellent together once again. I feel a little cheated that they’ve just skipped 6 months. I loved Jinkx as Maestro and this season's Gods of the Universe mystery box. My complaints come from the writing. It feels like we are getting sped through Doctor Who basics with heavy exposition that also feels a little too unrelated to the question being asked. And the song at the end was kind of cringey.

Ya for sure, Jinkx wasn't anybody I knew before this show, but damn it I love them now! lol Ya that was RTD's weakness, but I'm still giving it leeway since its a soft reboot and there's new fans coming in who need that...I'm hoping Season 2 has better explanations, but even if it doesn't, its still Doctor Who! lol and ya, it was...oddly placed- but I think it might be a hint at a bigger 'thing' we're not seeing yet, and I think that its their in the Celestial's Universe or under their powers...WHO knows lol

You ask all the right questions. But then demand mediocrity. The Musical number at the end was there to emphasize that this was a Musical episode. Like the Musical Buffy episodes. Was done just because it could be done. This is the 3rd episode of the season. Having everything "explained" now would be self-defeating. Let the season play out. I loved your reaction though. Your energy came right through my screen. Thanks.

Its more of just me NEEDING the answers now more than demanding them haha I'm excited to see what plays out, but I think we might be in a pocket Universe where the rules of the real world are thin and easily broken...perhaps why we see the Snow, or theres a musical number in the real world...idk. It wasn't my favourite episode of thie series (I guess we should call it a 'season' now with DiSney funding) but I respected RTD doing something new. Didn't mind the final 'glee' number but Paul/John/Cilla looking/sounding so fake took me out of the plot a few times. Funnily enough they seemed much more believable in the 'Unleased' (Behind the Scenes) episode for this story.

And ya, you'd think they could've done some prosthetics maybe for the Beatles, make them look more like themselves, but I guess all we get is a close voice and thats it lol Weird, I wonder what happened when they were on set to make them so different?

@@DFQreacts Look for a mini-series from about 12 years back called "Cilla' showing how she came to fame from having the Beatles as near neighbours. The actress who played Cilla Back and sang her hit songs (Sheridan Smith) was also a Doctor Who companion back in the day (audio not TV). The guys who played the Beatles in that mini were much better than the ones in this story.
