Ten said in The End of Time part 1 that if he dies DURING the regeneration process (eg get shot) then he dead. This episode confirms it... or so we’re led to believe.

Yeah, I remember being utterly dumbfounded when the Doctor was shot in this episode! This series of Doctor Who is probably the one that provokes the most questions from the beginning, as you found out for yourself, and definitely showcases Steven Moffat's love of a good mystery to tie fans up in torturous mental knots (you can definitely tell that he's in charge of the BBC Sherlock too, right...?!).

The older version of Canton Delaware III was played by William Morgan Sheppard, Mark's father. He passed away on January 6 this year.

the man who brings the gasoline for the Doctor's funeral is Mark Shepard's dad in real life. And one of 2 arch archenemies of the original MacGyver show. Family is very talented. Mark Shepard also plays in Burn Notice.

I really fucking LOVE the dynamic between these four!😅 The opening to this series is so great!! As are the locations and especially the soundtrack!🙌🏻 Definitely one of the more convoluted series, little messy, but still so so enjoyable! Really glad you’re enjoying 11 more and more, my personal favourite Doc!😄 P.s I really liked the fact that you spent some time sharing your thoughts on the episode!🙌🏻

Great to hear your increasing enjoyment with River. Some people don’t care for her. But if, like me, you love her, then these episodes are amazing. And, as you are realising, her entire story arc is something quite different and special. There are a couple of vids on you tube that try to explain her overall timeline, and they are worth a watch...eventually. And yes, when her story is done, you really should rewatch the Library 2 parter, but only with a lot of tissues ready. It is probably my most rewatched episode of, actually maybe anything!

There's gonna be a point when you know it is time to go rewatch Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead. (Technically you can watch it as much as you want lol). Just keep watching, you have a lot to see still. There's also a chart out there that chronicles River's timelines and the Doctor's. There's an episode list too that shows her chronological order that you can watch it in. I was gonna watch it, but it's a lot lol. Just an FYI :)

The library episodes are in my top 5 favorites because of exactly what you are talking about here - it's so unusual to watch an episode the first time essentially from one character's point of view (the Doctor's), and then be able to return to the same episode later on and essentially watch it from another character's point of view (River's). Wait to do your rewatch until after you know her whole story though, if you can :)

Maybe worth clarifying that Timelords _can_ die, regeneration is a biological ability, not a physical certainty (some poisons can prevent the process occurring for instance and if regeneration is interrupted at a crucial moment it stops). They also "only" get 12 of them, so 13 incarnations effectively (though in classic Who it was possible for the Gallifreyan High Council to circumvent this limit) and _eventually_ they can even die of old age. Some great stuff in this one ("The Legs, The Nose and Mrs Robinson" ;), excellent opener to the two parter IMO.

You probably saw the aliens as an action figure or promotion, they also bare a resemblance to so many alien encounter aliens, you know when people say they got abducted and probed. It's a little too soon to re-watch "Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead" wait till you finish the complete series, IMO. Pro tip, Time Lords can only regenerate 12 times and also remember from "Turn Left" if he's killed too quick before the Regeneration process starts he's dead... A little bit of Canon.

The thing is, if a Time Lord is killed while regenerating, or before regenerating, they can still die. The older Doctor is quite dead. You're definitely going to enjoy season 6 (6x04, The Doctor's Wife, is my favorite DW episode of all time.) I can't wait.

Mark's great and he's been in a ton of things. The old man in the beginning of the episode (@2:12) was played by Mark's father William Morgan Shepperd who has also been in tons of stuff including Star Trek, Babylon 5, the great 1981 mini-series "The Day of the Triffids" and an 80's cult classic sci-fi show called Max Headroom. I've met both actors, at the same convention actually, so that was great. In person I found William to be a lot warmer than Mark, but who knows, he could have been having a bad day or something. I'd previously run into Mark very momentarily at the giant San Diego Comicon which lead to a fun crossover. I was taking photos in front of a TARDIS which was on display there with some Doctor Who cosplay friends when Mark walked up, excused himself past us and lead Jared Padalecki from Supernatural into the Police Box prop for a look see! Yes Supernatural met Doctor Who and the cameras went wild!

I love how angry and dark the doctor gets in the episode, but also so happy and excited when he realises the Tardis is a person, then sad when she has to go back to the machine. that episode has a lot of feels and emotions in it I love it.

It makes me a bit sad when reactors recognize young Canton Delaware but not the older Canton Delaware. Beyond the fact that the two actors are father and son in real life, William Morgan Sheppard was an actor for nearly 60 years. He passed away about a month ago now.

Going to make this as spoiler free as possible: Yeah, The Doctor can regenerate. But according to Classic Doctor Who lore, only 12 times. Officially, Matt Smith's Doctor is 11, even though Tenant's Doctor regenerated twice.

Are you in for a treat. One massive revelation about someone at the end of the season :). Please watch it in order as it sets up things for show's 50th anniversary episode. It's also very 'timey-wimey' in a sense that the story arcs involve a lot of time travel effect-before-cause plot moments that will drive you nuts. As the good Doctor once said, 'Time travel, you can't keep it straight in your head'.

The next episode is probably the last time when you expect a lot from Moffat, and not only he matches the expectations, he exceeds them. Not the last good episode, not the only time he exceeds expectations, but the last one where he really works miracles after building up hype.

Oh this is a real good opening. While I like the Moffat era of Dr Who I feel as though that the first 4 seasons with the Davis era was at its prime. That maybe my personal taste but I think series 5 and series 6 were Moffat at its prime. Can't wait for your next reaction waiting patiently in Australia. Keep up the great reactions. Edit: The actor who portrays Old Canton Delaware passed way this year I feel really sad now. RIP Mr Sheppard.
