People like me liked Donna because she stood in for regular people. She was brassy in the Wedding episode. Her change to pursue strange happenings and make a change in her world showed that the interaction with the Doctor woke her up to a reality she had been numb too. The Doctor holds a mirror up to societal issues and challenges us to change like Donna. She stands in for all of us.

Probably fair to point out that the Great Intelligence and the Snowmen go back to the 2nd Doctor but the stories wrre lost and coincidentally(?) ties in with the recovery of one of those stories in 2013.

mann I've said before I thought she was an actress from a different show, only to realize she was in the first episode. I didn't see anything else when I looked it up.

I think Martha is the best companion. Do you really think Donna was an awful person? She realized the Ood's slavery was an important thing when the Doctor didn't. Hey, you should check out David Tennant and Catherine Tate in "Much Ado about Nothing," though. Maybe do a reaction. It's funny that it's her season you think is the best. I love this episode. As a Sherlockian, it holds a special place in my heart, and I love Clara.

If I said she was awful, I misspoke. She was just a little rude when I had first met her, but I enjoyed her growth through season 4. So no, I don't think she was awful, especially when she wanted to save some people from the Fires of Pompeii.

I agree with you about Amy and Rory. I liked Donna as a companion, but I thought most of Series 4 wasn't very good, so she's not a top companion for me.
