Fun fact: This is a prequel to the storyline of a couple of Second Doctor stories in the classic series. The Abominable Snowmen and The Web of Fear. An origin story for The Great Intelligence, the bad guy in these stories. The lunchbox with the London Underground makes so much sense if you know those stories. The Doctor is literally creating and safeguarding his own past with that lunchbox 😎

Having The Doctor's face in the opening credits is actually a throwback to Classic Who.

This was all so confusing when it aired in the UK. We had Jenna Coleman confirmed as the new companion before series 7 began (so we also knew Amy and Rory were off mid-series).So it was confusing as hell when Jenna showed up as Oswin and then got killed off. Then even moreso when she showed up again here and then snuffed it once more!

The "Great Intelligence" actually dates *waaay* back to the 2nd Doctor and the two episodes "The Abominable Snowmen" in 1967 and "The Web of Fear" in 1968 (which also included Lethbridge-Stewart's first appearance...as a mere Colonel). So this is basically an origin story for a Who monster from half a century ago.

For a second I was like, “why you freaking out haven’t you seen the tardis like a billion times before?” Then when I realised I was like “WTF”

DAMN, I'd forgotten that the voice of the GI in this was the Great Sir Ian. Nice. Also, Richard E Grant played the Doctor in an animated story known as "Scream of the Shalka," as a version of the ninth Doctor in an alternate timeline. It used a number of ideas floating around from the books and audios at the time (some of which ended up being Included in the show) such as the Timelords disappearing in the intervening time. It was released in 2003, on the 40th anniversary (And also featured Jacobi, AKA Professor Yana as a version of the Master. David Tennant was also in it as a minor role, as was the actress who played Liz 10 in the Beast Below).

This is one of the most underrated episodes of the show, similarly I also think The Power of Three, The Rings of Akhaten and The Name of the Doctor are also underrated. Series 7 wasn't too great overall but it has a few overlooked episodes that are actually really great.

Fun Fact: Richard E. Grant (Dr. Simeon) played The Doctor in an animated Web Series called Scream of the Shalka back in 2003. He played The "Ninth Doctor" at the time, just not the one we know. Since the launch of the current show the story is not really canon, even though the BBC themselves had made Shalka.

Haha, you so did not call that. Everyone who saw this went 'hmm, same actress' and when she mentioned souffles we ALL knew something was up. You totally missed her saying 'run you clever boy' and making the connection there as she died. Only when the show directly told you. But you are so enthusiastic and fun it doesnt really matter and I now feel a bit mean, lol. Hope you love whats coming, its a lot of fun.

As soon as the Great Intelligence started talking I was like, "Gandalf?" And it was Sir Ian McKellen voicing him. That was so cool.

The Great Intelligence, voiced by Ian McKellen. Funny how when high profile British actors are offered huge blockbuster roles, they have to think about it. Yet, offer one to voice evil snow in a low budget sci-fi show, they come running faster than you can say TARDIS. We Brits have our priorities straight!

I'll keep checking in - fun to watch someone experience this for the first time. Can't wait for you to get to some of my favorite episodes and favorite characters that you haven't even met yet.

The boys name that gives Strax direction is named "Thomas Thomas" aka "Tom Tom" xD

I don’t know if you’re aware but there’s a minisode set back on Demon’s Run which explains how Strax is alive again despite being killed, as well as how he’s ended-up with Vastra and Jenny.

Strax is honestly one of my favorite characters. The comedic relief he brings is so good.

I'm really very surprised that no one has mentioned Jenna Coleman was in the first Captain America movie, albeit in a brief role, being one of the two ladies Bucky finds before Steve was accepted into the super soldier program.

This is the first time in the show that there has been one single camera shot from the outside to the inside of the TARDIS. Obviously there has to be some FX trickery since we can't really build a box that's bigger on the inside.

I think this design of the TARDIS console room, along with 12's additions to it, is my favorite of them all.

24:32. The cat just sat up, but did so in a way that implied that it was used to these sudden, erratic outbursts from its owner calmly looking at a screen. He would just sit still for a while, then, suddenly, without warning, start shouting. It must be a difficult life, being a cat.

Just so you know, the actor who played the nasty businessman in this episode is Richard E. Grant. For a short time before the show was brought back in 2005, the BBC released an animated story called 'Scream of the Shalka' in 2003. Richard played what was then considered the Ninth Doctor in it, and also the planned but introduced sequel. So in a way, Richard is another version of Nine! :D

It was announced that the actress was joining as a new companion before the season began, and stated by several insiders (including Jenna Coleman herself) that she would first appear in this Christmas special. It was a huge surprise for everyone that followed promo materials when she showed up in the first episode of the season, so a lot of people were already highly suspect of what the freak was going on here.

Wow was shocked by this quick upload, nice. Last episode is so sad. Can’t wait to see how things develop from here.

Fun fact, the reason some RU-vid videos have titles and descriptions in English but are in another language themselves is a simple reason, when setting a different language some people have titles in multiple languages to attract broader attention.

The actress who plays Oswald was in a drama, Waterloo Road ... she was brilliant in that too. She played a schoolgirl who murdered her own father to stop her sister being sexually abused. She handled the role and storyline brilliantly.
