You're always bright [brainy], Nicole.😊 It's the orange suits again! Capaldi states he's worried about finding David's hair gel inside the helmet.😂

I'm not sure I like the plot of this episode, but as usual Capaldi and Clara shines through. And the supporting cast is quite good too. Thanks for a great reaction and a fantastic youtube channel ⭐

I liked this episode for the conflict it created between Clara and the Doctor. Very interesting moment. Loved that part. He trusted Clara to make the decision but didn't realize it might put too much pressure on her, which terrified her. The part I just can't get beyond was...the moon was an egg. Really? Maybe that part could have been handled better. More plausible explainations on how the moon was now suddendly an egg. Oh, well. On to the next episode.

The Moon is very different in Who lore than in reality, and very, very suspicious in its behaviour, if that helps any - this episode answers a question about the moon in Who first proposed in the 3rd Doctor era.

@farview13 How is the moon being an egg more implausible than a face changing alien travelling through space and time in a wooden box thats bigger on the inside?

This is one of the episodes that really polarizes the fan base. Not well loved, which is sad. I think it's great. So much important stuff for the relationships between Clara and the Doctor, and Clara and Danny. A great classic scifi-horror set-up. A classic golden age 'humans make a moral choice' story.

The moon has figured in several stories now, but one story in which it was missing was Stolen Earth. What happened to the Moon when the Earth was in the Medusa Cascade? When Donna and the Doctor opened the TArDIS door they were both gone. Had the moon already started to fly off toward the sun ?

The more I watch this with reactions the more it gets me emotional, I think when the lady astronaut says ' how do we kill it' is when the doctor leaves it to the humans to make the decision, . Gets even better this series, great reaction from you.

I´m sorry, and it might come back one day. It´s just not nice engough for me at the moment. Since we live in a very small apartement, I don´t have many choices where to put my desk. We are planning to move, maybe next year already. And when that happens the real backround will come back for sure :)

Please, please, pretty please believe me when I say that The Doctor DOES trust Clara that way. A key element around Clara - and I hope that this isn't too spoilery ... I don't think it is - is how much she becomes like if not actually almost becomes THE Doctor on occassion. They're just so alike it's as if fate has thrust them together for some reason. And I think he regards her as more of an "equal" in many ways than he ever did about other companions ... that's not to put others down, of course, its just the special dynamic of their relationship. Theyre almost too alike. And let's not forget that, so far, she probably made the biggest sacrifice than any other for him AND knows of/ about all of his other selves in a weird timey wimey kind of way .. and that's just from her being down at the bottom of his timeline when John Hurt showed up; other "versions" of her actually save TD's life! Anyway, sorry, I'm rambling, it's just I adore them both, truly I do, and I think they "love" each other more fiercely than any other of TD's "duos" thus far. Hand on Heart. This wasn't him being too distant it was actually him getting too close to Clara (to be so very confident that she'd make the right decision.) So yeah, keep the faith!! X

I enjoy your reactions! I agree that there is a lot of great character developments and dealing with how different the doctor is right now. I think there is a lot of great dialogue.

It can rightly be said that of all the reactions of different people, your reaction to this episode is the best of all You know, I just realized that it was the spoilers for the next episode that spoiled most people’s impression of episodes 7 and 10. The funny thing is, your reaction was almost the same as ours in the episode “Listen,” first fear, then delight at a different ending. To be honest with Nicole, at first I didn’t like this episode either, although the final scene of the scandal was a diamond! My rating for this episode was 6.8, but a friend helped me explain the concept and I raised it to 8.2, I was ready to explain it to you Nicole, I thought you wouldn’t understand! But you surprised me, you presented everything so correctly... moreover, you even made me understand this episode better, which is why I am now raising the rating to 8.5. Thank you Nicole, it was you who taught me something, not me, it was very interesting to hear your discussion about Hitler and all the other Doctor Who plots. :) I am very glad that you were attentive here and caught an important detail of the plot regarding relationships! You were able to separate the plot and relationships, you understood everything that the episode wanted to convey to us, bravo! Brilliant! Everything is correct! Well done! :) Explanations for the low score. There was a lot of good in this episode, but when people saw the climax, they forgot what the rest was, they were angry at the climax, okay, an egg, but for a creature to immediately lay an egg? It was a hot aggressive topic, like what nonsense! If they had said that this dragon was like a phoenix from the ashes, that when it is born, it immediately leaves behind an egg, people would not be so angry, but there was no such answer, so people were angry. In fact, in the classics they often talked about the old and new moon, I'm glad to finally get an answer to the ancient question of the classics, this is canon. The second reason, there were fewer such people, but there were people who were angry that Clara had a negative attitude towards the Doctor, like the Doctor needs to be cherished and loved! And anyone who offends the Doctor must be the Doctor's enemy! These people with rose-colored glasses, from that moment on they stopped loving Clara, “how dare she?!”... they don’t understand that the Doctor was wrong and that Clara did the right thing! The audience is too blindly defending the Doctor where it is not necessary. First of all, we see how badly and irresponsibly the Doctor behaves at the beginning of the episode and in the middle, there should have been swearing and a quarrel! But since the show is not 16+, it was necessary to filter the swear words with other words, people, alas, did not understand this, they took everything as a joke, the creators of this episode did a poor job with the filter and explanation that they were having a conflict right now, only in the final scene it was for them managed to do it right. Okay, we got that out of the way, now I want to talk about the episode. I'm very glad that you thought and understood the series so much, and were not distracted by the rapid birth of the moon. You literally got everything you needed and more from this episode. In this case, I will talk about the episode: When Clara started arguing and crying, I was shocked! This was the best part of the series! Rarely did anyone manage to talk with the Doctor on an equal footing, for example, Donna was one of the few who talked to him on an equal footing; with the rest, the Doctor spoke in such a way that he was older and smarter, had power over his friends in his own opinion, although he did not abuse this. The doctor always believed that he was doing the right thing and did not even notice how he went too far with the correctness and ended up acting too cruelly and incorrectly, although he believed that he was doing everything right. And Clara went further, she talked to him in such a way that she crushed him with her authority. The Doctor began to look against the background of Clara, like a small child against Mom, or like a student against a teacher. I was delighted, she put it in its place! I shouted “Yes Clara! Serves him right! Otherwise he’s completely insolent!” I was angry at the Doctor and respected what Clara had done, no one had ever talked to the Doctor like that before! I understand Clara’s tears and screams, I even began to worry a little, has the Doctor really stopped being the Doctor? Clara had already made her own decision and sacrificed herself to save Dr. Smith, she had already done that... Doctor, why the hell did you decide to abandon her and test her decision? Even if she needs to make a decision, be there for her!Danny was right, he is an officer doctor, he got what he deserved from his friend! At the last moment, I saw the Doctor’s expression, he felt shame and guilt... like a little guilty child... at that moment I felt sorry for him... he realized that he was wrong and he was ashamed... Yes Doctor, you got what you deserved, but the fact that you understand your guilt makes me feel sorry for you, I hope you can fix everything.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Nicole, but I'm sorry to say that I found this episode to be very poor indeed. The story was very weak, the science was awful, the resolution was terrible, and the Doctor was acting out of character. Oh, and the characters were uninteresting, and the general idea of the moon being an egg was just plain stupid. On the plus side... nope, can't think of any real plusses... Still, I shall carry on watching your reactions, there is much better to come!

If it helps any the moon is Who is very odd, it's not like the real moon. It piloted itself into our solar system from parts unknown, on a seeming collision course, forcing the Silurians to go into hibernation and send their arks into space, then instead of hitting at the last moment it 'parked' itself into a perfect orbit. It turning out to be an egg is not that weird in comparison, and it answers a mystery that was begun about the moon in Who in the 3rd Doctor era.
@bookswithike3256
@bookswithike3256 8 месяцев назад
@@pettytyrant2720 Um... that's literally what happened with the moon in real life. It's not that it was intentionally piloted anywhere, it's that it was an astral body that hit the Earth, and the debris was caught in Earth's gravity and formed the moon.
@pettytyrant2720
@pettytyrant2720 8 месяцев назад
@@bookswithike3256 No you are utterly wrong, in reality our moon was formed when the early earth was struck by another body approx 4.5billion years ago, the resulting debris from the collision forming the moon - in Who the moon doesn't turn up until the era of the dinosaurs, a mere 65 million years ago, and it pilots itself into our orbit and it doesn't collide with anything. It's nothing like the real moon let alone 'literally what happened'. It's nothing at all like what happened! I do hate the use of the word 'literally' in a context where its usage means exactly the opposite!

A first Doctor Who script by Peter Harness, it's not Steven Moffat this time. When you look beyond the craziness of the giant creature hatching from the moon it's actually a pretty decent episode with visuals to the fore in the first half and a great performance from Jenna in the second delivering that well deserved tirade at the Doctor. Really like how Clara's character is progressing this season too.

To me this is a very pro life episode. Moffat said it was supposed to be a very pro choice women empowerment message. Men should not have a say. “Respected is not how I feel” is really well said. What I want to point out is that Clara goes against the majority who want her to kill the baby. Because when it is you making the decision it is in the end a personal choice you have to live with. I can tell you from personal experience women in tough positions are often faced with pressure to abort/prefer career from friends and family. It is scary to choose life because you don’t know how it will work out, whether people will abandon you, career will end. Life wins. It finds a way.
