One thing i love about the castle is that there's only one thing that never resets to its original state, the painting of Clara in the bedroom, it continues to get older, and older, and older, gaining dust, chipping and flaking away. Its the only thing that never changes, the fact that Clara is dead, staring him in the face at the start of every cycle.

Amazing story, Capaldi owns it 100%, and i cant see any other Doctor performing it to be honest, its all on 12 and he shows why he is one of the best doctors in the shows history. The music is also amazing in this story, murry golds music can sometimes be not noticed but this some of his best work in the show. Incredible episode and best one of the season, easily, although there wasn't much competition... excellent directing and editing also. Its neat that they show that time lord's if injured too severely aren't able to regenerate, which is cool and makes them more vulnerable than magically changing everytime, it adds tension that maybe it won't work sometimes and maybe it could be the end for the character as it was here. Drama and suspense. The diamond wall didnt reset because it's not part of the castle, its the outer crust so it stays damaged.

Peak DW. This is, in my opinion, the best episode in the shows history. It's everything you need in an hour. The monster is just there as a metaphor for a bigger societal issue. The companion serves as a tool to motivate and guide the Doctor. The Doctor does something only he can do, not because he's all powerful but because he is willing to suffer to save people. He has such a range this episode as well, from serious to somber and from scared to fearless. I'm going to comeback to this reaction a few dozen more times because you really got it.

Nicole, I'll be honest with you I've been watching you ever since you first reacted to Rose in series 1 and I look forwrd to your reactions every single week, but ever since then I've been waiting for you to see Heaven Sent. This episode is phenomenally well made, unlike anything before it. I recommend getting to rewatch it as well, now you know the twist you'll notice all the ways it was set up and hinted at. Peter Capaldi's performance in this story is unreal and I love all the doctors but I don't if anyone other than Peter could have done this in this way.

Nicole, you said you didn't know how to feel. THAT WAS THE POINT MY LOVELY. This episode is based on mental illness. The ice he chips away at over thousands and BILLIONS of years and dieing in pain over and over Represents the never-ending depression and anxiety u feel after losing someone u love in real life. The clinical term is complicated grief This is what the Doctor was dealing with after her death.

Here we go.. My favorite episode of ALL DOCTOR WHO ! This episode is so unique ! This big puzzle was so well done. The sequence when the Doctor break the wall was so stunning. I love every bit of it, all of those detail I love it. And Peter Capaldi ! He is such a great actor ! This episode is basically him monologing and it's so well done ! And the OST ! When the Doctor roam inside the castle, it's so mysterious, atmospheric and yet sad... And of course during the sequence when he is breaking the wall, the OST "The Shepherd Boy" is playing ! One of my favorite OST of all Doctor Who ! This episode is PERFECTION ! 😊😊😊

He probably changed his actions and failed innumerable times; there were a lot of skulls in the water, and only ever one in the regeneration chamber. But only one sequence of actions brought him to the understanding and exit. - after billions of failed tries.

This is my absolute favourite episode, the storyline is insane, seeing the Doctors thought process is amazing, watching the Doctor never giving up is inspiring, hearing the Doctor bearing his soul is heartbreaking then learning the truth is MIND BLOWING. Every skull is the Doctor's skull, the Doctor starts the day by picking up the dust of his previous life & ends everyday by killing himself to start it all over again & again & again for BILLIONS of years. Never Be Unkind, Never Be Scared & NEVER GIVE UP. The Best Doctor Episode Ever! 🤯 Oh & by the way amazing prediction on the episode. 👍 IMO The Doctor ran because he was scared of becoming cold hearted like the TimeLords.

"It's Timelord technology" There's a hint for the avid Whovians in the English title 'Heaven sent'. Heaven was the translation of a Timelord names of Gallifrey in extended media. The portrait had the number behind it (even the prop IIRC) but he never turns it around. "I am nothing without an audience." A meta fourth wall break - Without an audience, his show doesn't get renewed. "But he did all of that in the time it took to... What a swot!"😂 Stephen Moffat's mother was dying or had died. This is a metaphor for grieving

Two things struck me about those episode, first is the doctor must’ve had a LOT of faith that all of his copies would make the exact same choices each time/not drown. Second that line “how long can I keep doing this, burning the old me…to make a new one” isn’t just about this situation he’s in it’s also about how tired he is of regenerating.

The best episode and it has a lot of brilliant philosophical messages in it. "Rory - So how big of a problem are we in?" "Doctor - How big? On a scale of ten? 11..." Heaven Sent - I give this episode a rating of 11 out of 10, and even more, 4 and a half billion out of 10. This episode talks about some people who faced difficulties and who had to go through the metaphor: “through fire, water and copper pipes” - in order to get out of their situation and find a way out, from which there seemed to be no way out, show a lot of perseverance. 1000 metaphors and philosophical wisdom were crammed into this episode at once. How many times should you burn yourself? - Talk about how often we have had to sacrifice our old selves, burn ourselves out, change to become something new in an attempt to overcome difficulties, stop being who you used to be and become something new. Impenetrable wall - The doctor often escaped through an elevator or a door, in this episode the doctor’s hope was taken away, they mocked him, the door that he opened was supposed to help him, but there was a dead end, the doctor immediately lost faith in himself, but did not give up and overcame this complexity, so next time they put a door that opens only through difficult moral recognition, and so on until he reached the strongest wall, through which it was impossible to pass. - This is about how a person encounters difficulties and in front of him is an obstacle, behind it is another and in despair you understand that there is no way out of this - humble yourself and give up! A difficult test that forces you to give up, because fighting is torture, God sometimes makes a difficult test for a person, but through deep work you go against fate and sin, where you need to prove that you are a worthy soul. Prison - Labyrinth, torture, also a philosophy about how often we make a prison for ourselves, create four walls for ourselves. Grave - There are also a lot of philosophies and quotes embedded here, including, you dig a hole, you yourself will end up in it, don’t dig a hole for yourself. A person falls for a long time and thinks about important things, remembers his relatives. Conversation about death, stars, time, coronality, even the monster itself is interpreted in the role of inevitable death. The Dead Sea and nothing beyond it, etc. This is a very deep episode and there are a lot of deep philosophical meanings embedded in it. Ps: fact. I personally have already watched this episode 211 times and since Pompeii I have been waiting for a long time for you Nicole to get to this episode, when I counted on the calendar when you will get to this episode, watching only your episode of Pompeii that just came out and was happy about the appearance of Capaldi, I told myself - Little bird... How many seconds are there in eternity? - Oh... let's walk this path, we'll wait, Nicole will get to this series someday... I've been waiting for 1000 years and finally I've waited! :) For me, this one episode made me consider Capaldi the best Doctor. It seems to me that he not only shot this episode, but also eclipsed all the seasons of the Doctors' Friends. If Capaldi had only one season, and not even a season, but only one episode, but this particular episode, then I think he would still have surpassed all the other doctors with their full seasons. How happy I am that Capaldi has more than one episode or season, besides this episode, there are also other episodes with him, there is time to enjoy his acting and stretch out the pleasure longer, I will appreciate every minute with him :3

It's one of those episodes you have to rewatch over and over to entirerly understand the plot but it's considered one of Peter Capaldi's best episodes and performance this is the episode that gave Capaldi a proper chance to shine as the Doctor after the whole Clara burden as I felt she can overtake the show at times but this is a great episode.

I know for some of them, like Chique Geeks for example, the camera cut out. And stuff like that happened to others, too. I just can't name who off the top of my head (because I watched a WHOLE lot of reactions to this 🤭), but still. It did happen. So, count yourself as one of the lucky ones, if nothing happened. 👍

I agree, I even forgot a little that the episode was cursed, but I felt that it was necessary without spoilers to carefully warn Nicole! I wanted her to double-check everything 5 times, so as to spite the curse and say: “NOT TODAY!” But the episode is really cursed, because I always remembered what to say in all the episodes, but in this episode I forgot - curse. Fortunately, the curse only affected the moment of her crying, important emotions, I have never seen anyone cry like that here, but in other places everything is fine, although it’s sad that they didn’t hear her cry here, but you can at least see how she cried and Imagine her crying, it makes me happy. So the curse passed almost mercifully for her.

Interesting facts behind the episode. Fact 1 - The episode is cursed, I will write a small separate post about this. Fact 2 - Usually Oscars are not given to long series, but Doctor Who managed to win an Oscar, the only episode that deserved an Oscar. Fact 3 - When the epidemic of 20 began and people were required to stay at home, the BBC purposefully decided to include and broadcast this episode on television in order to give motivation to people to cope with this difficult time. Fact 4 - This work was so good that other people wanted to buy out the authorship of this script and make a whole film, a separate film based on this script idea. But fortunately they were refused, they proudly and patriotically preserved the creation, and it remained to belong to Doctor Who. Fact 5 - There were a lot of comments where people said how this episode affected their lives, or even helped them, here is one example that I read. - Some dad: I have a daughter, she had a very hard time studying, and I myself can’t motivate her and force her to study, and after watching this episode, my daughter sat down to study and whispered a quote from a bird, “how many seconds are there in eternity?” ?" (This is so cute) - About me: This episode also helped me, I was just faced with a difficult time when I could have died, but I decided not to give up, however, I was already losing hope, and the other day this episode came out, it came out just in time for me! It motivated me and I continued to fight even when I was tired. As you can see, I’m here in front of you and smiling, talking about Doctor Who, so I’ve already passed my AD and other problems now seem nonsense to me, everything is fine with me. :) Meme - Quote from the episode: Go to the city, find someone important, tell them that I'm back, if they ask who I am, say that I came from far away... This is not a popular meme, but it still makes me smile - In the hallway, the granddaughter with a sad look and biting her lips looks at her grandmother, and the grandmother stands and tells her (Go find someone important, tell them that I'm back if they ask, who am I?..) this is funny. In general, the essence of the meme is that the grandmother is apparently a tough woman and the granddaughter will have to go to her parents and tell them the news - your mother has arrived!

The curse of the episode I forgot to warn you to carefully check all the equipment, this is truly a curse, fortunately, almost everything seemed to work out without this. This episode is cursed and many reactors had problems with this episode, some did not record the entire episode, some had no sound, but more often the problems were with the final denouement and breaking the wall and repeating, then the recording stopped recording further, then it was a little different who had their lights turned off or what, so people officially began to consider this episode not only the best, but also the damnedest. For many, this episode was ruined by the recording. You are lucky.

It's in a high echelon but it's so overrated - it used to be this way with Androzani and Remembrance of the Daleks (which I would have over this any day as an all time top 10 entry but they were always looked at in a certain way which meant other great stories got overlooked)! I also think it had too much over exposition (in terms of writing)? As much as a lot of us love Moffat.

@@annieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee which is fine. It's a show designed to be accessible by children as well as adults and it pushes that line ridiculously hard sometimes. Considering Heaven Sent as a meditation on grief, it's an extremely realistic portrayal of helplessness - Moffat finding a way to give that some kind of 'happy' ending is okay.
