It’s fair to say the entire UK went a bit bananas for a week between this episode and the next. Bookies were taking bets on who the next Doctor was going to be. As I recall, Robert Carlyle had the shortest odds.

Now I'm imagining what kind of voices the Daleks could have that would make Deepa like them better. A Winnie the Pooh type voice? "Oh bother! The Doctor's foiled our plans for intergalactic conquest!". An Edward G Robinson voice? "Nyah! We are the Masters of Earth see? Nyah!" Or maybe a Scooby Doo voice? "Rexterminate!"

The Dr Who's episodes, Turn left/The Stolen Earth/Journey's End three parter, in my view, was near perfect tv when it was first shown, and I still think so. Davros is also my favourite Dr. Who villain (of all time, along with the Daleks) and probably one of my favourite villains in all of ScFi, and has been since the 70's.

The best thing I love about this episode is the colours of the Supreme Dalek and relationship with the Supreme Dalek and Davros. This is where the fun begins.

When I first saw this, I knew who Davros was, my parents got me a Doctor Who Monster book earlier that year, and it included a page on Davros so for me it was like seeing a figure from a time of legend appearing on the screen. I loved it.

Fancy that, two Stolen Earth reactions in one day! Since I haven’t caught up with Fourth Wall’s reactions (I'm up to School Reunion), I’ll definitely be watching yours first :) By the way, about the next Doctor. To prevent Deepa from spoilers, I won’t say much but... While Tennant was good in the role, I wouldn’t say he was my favourite modern Doctor. In fact, he’s probably my joint least favourite. His successor is also my least favourite and I probably dislike him more than Tennant if I’m being honest.

Personal list: 1. Tennant 2. Smith/Capaldi 3. Eccleston 4. Every doctor before 5. Jodie (I'm sorry I just don't think she handles the role very well. And she kinda feels like a cameo in her own show)

My list of favourite modern Doctors : 1. Twelve (Capaldi) - He's just great, has imo the best consistent performance throughout his run. Had a relatively weak season 8 (better than 7 overall personally, but still not the best), but season 9 and 10 were amazing. His character arc was great as well Joint 2.Nine/Ten (Eccleston/Tennant) I adore Nine to the point that I think if he had another series or two he would probably be my favourite, but Tennant has some great moments and stories like Family of Blood and Waters of Mars 3. Eleven (Smith) very good but season 7 was really weak imo, apart from Day/Time of the Doctor 4. Thirteen (Whittaker) I like her performance and a shift into a much more positive Doctor after the darkness of Twelve's run. But the writers haven't given her loads to work with unfortunately. I haven't seen loads of Classic Who, but l think my list would be something like First Fourth Seventh Fifth Third Eighth Second Sixth

I think this is PEAK RTD1! This episode perfectly conveys the threat that the Daleks poses and the hopelessness that they bring. And that ending! THAT.ENDING!! Plus, Harriett’s sacrifice is so good. The way that she faces her end with bravery and doesn’t cry for a second is so powerful.

God, the week between this episode and the next back in 2008 was tense. It was like the Avengers Infinity War/Endgame of Doctor Who.

It meant I didn't go to bed until 7 am, but hey, it's the weekend.

Oh yes! I've been looking forward to this! I remember feeling just as shocked as Deepa at times when I first watched this! This whole "to be continued" thing was really cruel... Can't wait for the next one! Oh, and "for reasons" you should do a reaction to the Classic Who story "Genesis of the Daleks"!!

The most interesting thing to learn about this episode: Sarah Jane manages to skid a Nissan Figaro, something which is meant to be notoriously difficult. She's an orphan, so her Aunt Lavinia raised her... meaning *LAVINIA* taught her to drive like that. And the fact that the TARDIS doesn't translate the Judoon language implies that neither the Doctor or Judoon are being civil in their language.

If I recall correctly, this episode had the highest viewing figures of any Doctor Who episode and was something like the second most watched episode of television that week. I was 13 at the time and I can still remember this being all anyone at school could talk about for an entire week, especially in terms of who was going to replace David Tennant. Bookies were even making official bets on it - I can remember the top names being thrown around were Robert Carlyle, James McAvoy, and Jason Statham of all people. The episode aired a few months before the BAFTAs where David Tennant made the official announcement that he was leaving so it *really* threw everyone for a loop since genuinely no one was expecting it to happen. I honestly don't think general public interest had ever been so high (or has been ever again) for an episode of a TV show.

I am not certain how big a time this was for 'Doctor Who' based on my own experience because I was just the go-to person in my academic year for anyone who wanted to talk about the show XD (Year 6 - I wish I still had people that cared when I was in Year 8). Plus I was just permanently obsessed, so every week was a big week for me. I do vividly remember other people's reactions to 'Blink', 'Utopia' and this though. 15:25 - "You could never get past that" One would think... [insert every Earth invasion from the classic series]

Hearing Davros' voice gives chills to old timers like me. It was the only person it could have been. The Daleks have come along way since the first meeting with the First Doctor. From what I have read, the Daleks made the show. The creators had no idea what the reaction would be, but after the first show with Daleks aired they heard lots of people talking about it. It was a hit. I always love seeing the Daleks pop up...though they are pretty damned annoying, but don't think they care.

Day of the Doctor is more like Infinity War or End Game because it follows a bigger arc lasting around a decade and has a crossover with all the other doctors and it better than this.

Deepa, the reason Daleks "shout so much" is cause the voice ring modulator Nicholas Briggs uses to apply for their voices wouldn't sound clear enough. Also they're basically alien fascists and Davros has always been compared to Hitler.

I don't know why everyone gets all defensive about Leeds. Anyone who's been to Leeds will tell you the Doctor Who filming locations are blatantly Cardiff rather than Leeds. Ditto with Ealing, Chiswick, Camden, Westminster & Peckham. Apart from Torchwood. Torchwood is filmed at Pontypridd.

I always hated the bit with the maximum extermination and the Daleks blowing up the whole family, as it kinda becomes very real then. Don’t normally see that kind of killing on the show. Love how Deepa likes Donna now! I remember how pumped I was at 11 years old for this episode and every time I rewatch, there’s still that gut punching moment when the Doctor is exterminated...
