Doctor Who: The Brigadier Remembers 

So it only hits me just now that the bit of the incidental music that evokes the "weee-oooh" only plays when a former Doctor is onscreen. It's subtle, but it's a nice detail.

"well bless my soul Doctor you've done it again."

"We shall miss him terribly" - Tom Baker. Indeed. The Brig is as much a part of the show as jelly babies, the sonic screwdriver and the Daleks. "Chap with wings there. Five rounds rapid." The best Brig line of all.

It's scenes like this amongst many that make this show so special.

I think the best part of this clip is the very end when the Brig remembers and the Doctor drops the sugar cube in the tea. It's such a brilliant little moment.

I can imagine Perwee bringing up a line from the Five Doctors: "Brigardier Letbridge, Stewart, how nice to see you again!" with Hartnell commenting in the background: "Ah! There you are!"

Nicholas Courtney has just passed away, let's all have a moments silence in honour of the great man

I love that scene. He was a staple in DW history. Love that Kate is continuing the legacy.

Peter Davison was so underrated as the Doctor.

A really fantastic moment. I will always remember this as one of the greatest scenes in doctor who history, reminding me of the true doctor who series.

RIP Nicholas, you were and always will be, a legendary actor.

The Doctor was glad to see Brigadier Alastair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart for the 1st time in years. The soldier who helped him when he was marooned on Earth by the Time Lords and gave him a home at UNIT Headquarters,gave him Bessie,the yellow roadster and facilities to repair the TARDIS,though The Doctor was later forgiven. And also helped the Brigadier remember some old friends & monsters they fought against as well as remembering The Doctor's oearlier incarnations as well.

He was featured in an episode of sarah jane smith adventures (the same actor who played him in the old days to,which i thought was really nice of them to do) but, if he was to meet the doctor..i can't help but imagine the doctor remarking about how much the brigadiers aged since they last met. XD but yeah,i do agree.They should bring him in to do a DW episode.

It was good to see UNIT appear in the era of the 5th Doctor Who,which happened in The Five Doctors sometime after the Doctor got to see Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart working at a boys' school,long after their battle with the Zygons during the Doctor's 4th incarnation.

I love this scene except for one thing. No one ever mentions Mike Yates.

Brigadier Alastair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart was a good man for giving the Doctor a home after he was marooned on Earth by the Time Lords and helped him a lot in the fight against evil.

I was delighted to see they'd partly redone the flashback for Mawdryn Undead, they altered some of the clips and added the Master in as well.

One of my favourite scenes from this episode, made me feel nostalgic!, the clips, the music!

I also believe in heaven, not only will we see the actors we loved from dr who but we will also see our loved ones!

This is a nice little flashback sequence for the Brigadier. But an interesting fact: for the DVD release, with the new CGI effects for the story also came this flashback sequence with new clips and edited a little differently. I personally prefer this new flashback sequence on the DVD. Check it out if you haven't seen this yet.

I have read they originally wanted Ian Chesterton, but there was scheduling conflicts with the actor.

as for UNIT, Brigadier has shown his disgust and resentment on how UNIT is handling things seen recently in an episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures

The look on Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart's face when he saw the Doctor's TARDIS on the inside was priceless.

The Producers should definitely work the Brigadier into a new episode. I can imagine him turning up and recognising The Doctor regardless of his appearance. They'd both be pleased to see each other , but L-S wouldn't give much away other than a raised eyebrow - if that. His absolute disdain for whatever monster was trying to destroy the Earth and his 'stifff upper lip' attitude whilst all around were fleeing in panic always made me laugh.

I think I saw this one either my last year in college (in the U.S.) or just after I graduated. I know I saw it with a couple of buddies of mine! Wonderful episode!

I do hope that when the eventual Blu Ray boxset of season 20 comes out, they don’t edit this sequence to feature the recovered footage of the Brig and the yeti from web of fear and leave it as is

This is really making me think of when in modern who, when a time lord opens a chameleon arc and hears lots of voices before getting their memories back.

Brilliant, brilliant stuff.

I didn't as I was a brand new Whovian and I had no idea at the time who the Brigadier was. But after immersing myself in all things Doctor Who I came to love that character. So when [SPOILER ALERT: Power of Three] they brought in his daughter Kate as the new head of UNIT's science department, I squeed like a fangirl, then promptly choked up.

A surprise that the Doctor didn't ask Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart if Mike Yates did or didn't contact him since Yates had to resign from UNIT quietly to avoid getting court-martialed for being part of Operation Golden Age, which was to wipe out humanity except for a handful of people in a protective field, though Yates redeemed himself months later against the giant spiders, which was the 3rd Doctor's last adventure.

Let's see, the flashback consist of Yeti, a Cyberman, the Second Doctor, Axons (?), a Dalek, the Third Doctor, the First Doctor, Robot, a Zygon and the Fourth Doctor... I would have liked to have seen some of the companions as well...

I read in Doctor Who magazine that Bret Vyon could be a future-space-clone of the Brig. Because if you cold clone him, you would.

Great incidental music in this scene.. I think there's even a bass electric guitar doing a variation on the main theme.

Wish this episode had a scene in which the Doctor tells Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart that he was lured back to his home planet by the Master and that he was used as a scapegoat for the killing of the President of Gallifrey, was in an emaciated state, and tried to get a new cycle of lives by destroying that planet. Also, the Doctor should've warned the Brigadier about the Master getting his 13th regeneration later on and to be on the lookout for him, though he gotten a beard and was dressed in black again before seeing the evil renegade Time Lord later on.

The Brigadier Sir Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart lost his memory. How did this happen. Did that mean that the Brigadier didn't remember who the Doctor was to him. But with gentle coaxing from the Doctor he started remembering. And as he remembered who he was, who the Doctor was and Sarah-Jane was etc then he slowly got his memory back. What actually happened to the Brigadier that he suffered from amnesia(memory loss). It was with the Doctor's help and support the Brigadier's memory returned. He remembered being the Brigadier, he also remembered who the Doctor and Sarah-Jane were thank God for the Doctor. He gave the Brigadier his memory back. Thanks so much Doctor. I know all too well how the Brigadier and the Doctor's friendship means to both of them

So the flashback scenes come from Three Doctors, The Web Of Fear, The Invasion, not sure about the second Doctor, The Claws Of Axos, Day of The Daleks, Spearhead From Space, The Three Doctors again, Robot, Terror Of The Zygons (twice) and Three Doctors again. Does anyone know about the shot of the second Doctor?

Odd that Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart didn't mention to the Doctor how he felt when Sarah Jane Smith told him that the Doctor had to return her home after he got a telepathic call to return to his home planet and had to obey it as a Time Lord. The Brigadier could've told the Doctor he had a feeling the Master sent the call after all those encounters the brigadier had with that evil renegade of the Doctor's race.

Perhaps it was a yeti.

The third doctor era was meant to be set in the 80's

Nicholas Courtney appeared as Curt Vyon with The First Doctor, arguably, the only companion to die until Adric. The Fifth Doctor’s shows were filled with allusions and Easter Eggs.

It very well might have existed in his day, but was classified from UNIT eyes, as UNIT was an international organization & Torchwood was formed to further British Imperial interests. These days with Torchwood's mandate changing under Captain Jack Harkness they're running into each other more, but that wasn't the original point.
