Roger Delgado was immense, back when Dr Who was Dr Who. The intensity he brought to the role made The Master as a character and I think he's been even harder to replace than the people who've played the Doctor.

Now the Master is junk - turned into a woman, the back story twisted to accommodate SJW, woke sensitivities.

fjvideo yeah that’s hardly a reason by itself. Which master is the best is always opinion, but Missy’s character brought the insanity, evil, fun, genius, and manipulation of the master. At the very least Gomez played the role as well as Simm’s master (it’s best to compare new who to new who). Her being a woman hardly changed the character. I can see how The move for a redemption arc in series 10 would be controversial, but at the end of the day that’s was the writers choice. Still has nothing to do with the master being female. Plus I can believe that after finally being cured of the drumming and centuries of being at odds with the Doctor, the Master would be willingly to stand with him. If you’ve seen all of Missy’s performances and scenes and thought “no” then.... okay weird, but that’s your choice and preference. If you literally just saw the Master’s a girl and went “ew! The SJWs are ruining everything. Ugh.” Then that’s pathetic. I’m sorry, but you really don’t have much room to hate something that you don’t bother even looking at beyond face value. I dislike the 13th doctor. Not because she’s a woman, but because the writing is go awful, and her character is inconsistent and empty when it’s not a 1d plot advancer. As far as the acting goes, I really can’t tell. I’d need to see Jodie with a good script for the doctor. So far however she doesn’t seem to bring the confidence and power to the role that I’ve come to expect (Missy however, did).

@@vullord666 Missy was an utter joke. To start with her "great character arc" was Moffhack recycling the same horny fantasy he'd done three times with River Song, Tasha Lame and his godawful version of Irene Adler. Second yes, Missy was pandering to the SJWs. They viciously slandered Moffat as a sexist and so he caved. It's exactly the same as in the 70s when Mary Whitehouse slandered the show as being too violent and the Beeb caved and fired Hinchcliff. Difference is you are willing to trash the Mary Whitehouse types because they are wrinkly old conservatives, but when it's the SJWs people are as silent as ghosts out of fear of being smeared as sexist. It's cowardly and hypocritcal. Third Missy didn't capture ANY aspects fo the Masters character. You're full of shit if you think "she channelled Delgado" I don't recall Delgado French kissing Pertwee or prancing around like an oversexed Disney character.

The Master wants freedom in exactly the same way as the Doctor, they're almost the same person as noted by the 3rd Doctor, the Master just happens play the villain. Lets not forget the whole of time lord society shunned him for the noise in his head and dismissed him as insane, just as they dismissed the Doctor as mad. I think old Who does a much better job of portraying their friendship and current relationships as well as why they abandoned Gallifrey to begin with. If I ever write any Who it'll be a team up between the two-no tricks, double crosses. Just two men, a great war, and their increasingly different responses to the war. The Master talks to talk, uses the Omega arsenal and heavenly paradigm but runs in fear. The Doctor on the other hand refrains from such action, until the Master hints to him that "the heavenly paradigm wasn't the only unused weapon in the arsenal," before he runs away. The Doctor is furious, he feels betrayed and tries and to find the master only to realize this must have been how the master felt when doctor left Gallifrey without so much as a goodbye. The last scene is the War Doctor staring down at the Moment in quiet contemplation as alarms blare and both Daleks and Time Lords arrive and attempt to stop him. Flash forward to the present, Missy and the 12th Doctor are sitting in a classy restaurant and they're clearly having a blast, which clearly unnerves Clara. Missy tells the Doctor she'd had a wonderful birthday, and that it was nice to be themselves again, but tomorrow wasn't her birthday and hed have to say something nice. 12 looks pissed but he stays his anger "You want nice? How about this, how about happy birthday." Missy blushes and tears up as the Doctor says softly "Did you really think I didn't remember? Do you really think I don't care?" In a shaky voice Missy says, I want to find my daughter Doctor. Don't you ..wanna find yours? Shes not dead. Your daughter is alive doctor and so is mine Credits roll Next episode has them meet their daughters BUT, they're both Dalek puppets, the Doctor and Missy's eyes meet. I leave it to your imaginations what happens next!

Zero Ninety I always hated the drums thing. I remember one of the things Beevers said about the character in one of the Big Finish audios he was in is that one of the fun and interesting things about the Master is that there is no real reason for why he is evil, he just sort of revels in the misery he causes others. I like the Master as a villain because, yeah, some people are just horrible and given a time machine and boundless knowledge of the universe, some people would get a bit of a god complex and abuse that power.

We love to play with the fire, don't we? The more dangerous something is the more we want it. The Master really knows how to use our own deep desires and curiosity against us. An excellent villain, I always thought, probably the best of the human-looking opponents as opposed to Things like the Daleks. Like the whole of Doctor Who, the Master had a sense of humour rarely if ever seen on, for instance, 'Star Trek'. This little documentary's rather fun, too. I'm a little surprised though someone didn't add as the police often do with dangerous criminals (especially recalling his hypnotic powers), 'If you see this man on no account approach him, but dial 999 immediately'! And the Doctor Who production team were extraordinarily lucky in finding Anthony Ainley to replace Robert Delgado who I believe died in a road accident in Turkey. Who is the mini-documentary's presenter?

3:29 He's referring to Sir Galahad by: Alfred Lord Tennyson My good blade carves the casques of men, My tough lance thrusteth sure, *My strength is as the strength of ten, Because my heart is pure.* The shattering trumpet shrilleth high, The hard brands shiver on the steel, The splinter'd spear-shafts crack and fly, The horse and rider reel: They reel, they roll in clanging lists, And when the tide of combat stands, Perfume and flowers fall in showers, That lightly rain from ladies' hands. How sweet are looks that ladies bend On whom their favours fall! For them I battle till the end, To save from shame and thrall: But all my heart is drawn above, My knees are bow'd in crypt and shrine: I never felt the kiss of love, Nor maiden's hand in mine. More bounteous aspects on me beam, Me mightier transports move and thrill; So keep I fair thro' faith and prayer A virgin heart in work and will. When down the stormy crescent goes, A light before me swims, Between dark stems the forest glows, I hear a noise of hymns: Then by some secret shrine I ride; I hear a voice but none are there; The stalls are void, the doors are wide, The tapers burning fair. Fair gleams the snowy altar-cloth, The silver vessels sparkle clean, The shrill bell rings, the censer swings, And solemn chaunts resound between. Sometime on lonely mountain-meres I find a magic bark; I leap on board: no helmsman steers: I float till all is dark. A gentle sound, an awful light! Three angels bear the holy Grail: With folded feet, in stoles of white, On sleeping wings they sail. Ah, blessed vision! blood of God! My spirit beats her mortal bars, As down dark tides the glory slides, And star-like mingles with the stars. When on my goodly charger borne Thro' dreaming towns I go, The cock crows ere the Christmas morn, The streets are dumb with snow. The tempest crackles on the leads, And, ringing, springs from brand and mail; But o'er the dark a glory spreads, And gilds the driving hail. I leave the plain, I climb the height; No branchy thicket shelter yields; But blessed forms in whistling storms Fly o'er waste fens and windy fields. A maiden knight--to me is given Such hope, I know not fear; I yearn to breathe the airs of heaven That often meet me here. I muse on joy that will not cease, Pure spaces clothed in living beams, Pure lilies of eternal peace, Whose odours haunt my dreams; And, stricken by an angel's hand, This mortal armour that I wear, This weight and size, this heart and eyes, Are touch'd, are turn'd to finest air. The clouds are broken in the sky, And thro' the mountain-walls A rolling organ-harmony Swells up, and shakes and falls. Then move the trees, the copses nod, Wings flutter, voices hover clear: "O just and faithful knight of God! Ride on! the prize is near." So pass I hostel, hall, and grange; By bridge and ford, by park and pale, All-arm'd I ride, whate'er betide, Until I find the holy Grail.

I really don't think that John Simm Master si bad, I just think that he matched very well David Tennant Doctor: young, bouncing, human. In fact their scenes together were very well. However, John Simm Master hadn't the same alchemy with Peter Capaldi Doctor, in fact I really didin't like them in Enough Time and Space (even if this version of the Master hadn't so much to do here). Michelle Gomez Master was good, she was a hell of an actress, but sometimes I just don't feel her like the proper Master, but like a different character. I don't think that the Master will return soon as a villain (because, as Missy, he was present for three seasons in a row), but if it'll be, I would a Roger Delgato-type of Master (rigid, elegant, charming, a bit old) with Jodie Whittaker Doctor (she seems to be young, enthusiastic, goofy, loonatic). I think it could be a strange and interesting balance .
